I'm certain you would love using a Blendex U Cup unitized wheel from Walter for this work... Not cheap... but they are excellent for buffing & blending stainless, bronze and iron.
I do this all during winter on a budget. I definitely could use better equipment and occasionally buy stuff. I try and keep the tools cheap and minimal so anyone can do it
If I recall, aren't these wedges electroplated with nickel or chrome? What happens when you sand through that? Polishing steel only helps with rust prevention to a point. Just asking as I'm going to be starting a set of Vokeys myself
In my face restoration video it shows it a bit. You can use a low grit sand paper or metal file while the toe and heel are taped. Then tape the grooves and polish the toe and heel.
I have an air compressor and the harbor freight blasting cabinet (around 40 psi with black aluminum oxide ). About 1:50 into my "wedge final touches" I show the blasting.
@@snooor95 yes, chrome wedges are limited on refinishing since you will sand off the chrome. You can do the etching on chrome as seen in my etching video.
