That’s a nice package! I bought a DD2 at launch in 2019. It sucked really bad for a few reasons. Performance and the QR. Had to be RMAd once as well. Finally I got wise and bought a SC2 Pro in early 2021. Fanatec had ruined my opinion, or made me really skeptical on direct drive as a sim racing steering solution. I honestly felt my Fanatec CSW V2 I had been using for 2.5 years prior was a far better feeling wheel then the DD2. I had my first drive with the SC2 Pro and immediately posted the DD2 and all my Fanatec gear for sale. It was clear to me now that dd was the future and Fanatec had just got it wrong with the Podium. Performance, QR and even form factor along with redundant gimmicks like the LCD tuning screen. I recommend an HRS XeroPlay QR for the SC2. It’s a much better QR compared to the SC2 QR. If speed and convenience is important when swapping wheels that is. Both are flex free.
Question for ya. Did the Simucube come with the right plug so you can plug it onto the wall. Sim racing garage the one they sent him came with a UK one. & Someone else I saw came with the wrong one & they had to go buy the right cord. Also. Does the Gomez wheel feel fat compared to Fanatec. I have the Porsche wheel from Fanatec & love the feel.so idk if I should keep wheel or buy a bundle like you. thanks
From Gomez, the simucube came with the correct US plug. The wheel itself is def a bit more girthy than say the fanatec formula wheel. As for the Porsche wheel, unfortunately I’ve never held that one before 🙁 however I don’t find it too large, but I do have big hands.
When I upgrade from my Fanatic club sport v2.5. I'm leaning heavily toward the Simucube. My brother has the DD1, and it seems fine. Hard to get a good feeling because he's big into Dirt Rally, lol. Hopefully the sim tech will have matured some more by the time I'm ready to pull the trigger.
I’d recommend the Simucube to anyone honestly. It’s got some much customization that you can make it feel anyway you want. FFB is all about personal preference, and it’s a one size fits all solution. The hardware is outstanding, as are most sim brands these days, but it’s the software and the fine tuning that really sets Simucube apart. IMO of course.
One Question I have is the feel of the grips. I felt a 1st gen SimCube rim 4months ago and I was immediately sensor shocked by how soft yet firm it was and comfortable for my hands, I grip hard but I've begun to slowly train the mind to hold back. I really would like your reply. TSPC rim, I thought was great, but it is very hard and uncomfortable, but bareably COMPARED (still a great rim). Thanks!
The grips are a high grade silicone, and they have a little give to them. Naturally with the silicone it’s soft/rubbery to the touch, yet they are firm when gripped hard. Very comfortable in my opinion.
Several others have said the same thing. Is there a certain part of the video or the whole thing? It's very loud on my end.... I don't get it.... I do apologize
