Depends on boards. Some have turned to shit. But some kept the anonymous culture and -without being friendly towards newcomers- will accept them wen they are here to adopt the culture and expand it (not try to convert it to whatever). Also, even if the golden age is long gone, creativity still have it's place. But again, on a handful of boards. /pol/ really spread bad image and stupidity, and is filled with larpers. /b/, I can't say, I never go there. But it's said that it's not creative anymore and is just bad content now. Go to some blue boards, and make your own experience. /diy/ is sympathetic.

But the thought of browsing 4chan willingly had always churned my stomach lol maybe it's cuz I'm not used to it, or the people, or the lingo that they use that always make me cringe, dunno. ​@mylittleparody2277 how is /sci/ these days? I never really used 4chan that much but, I kinda liked /sci/ because sometimes they'd talk about AGI and research [stuff]. But you know, some days you go on there and predictably all the threads are about the bell curve, so I stopped going on there because it'd be dead and boring. Shame though, /sci/ used to be respectable enough to solve a research math problem. Solved something with permutations.

Some would say that there are no true Jonnes anymore, as they were 10-15 year olds about a decade ago. The term Veeti has been gaining traction as the current equivalent of the former Jonne, as youth culture has changed. Jonnes aren't on tiktok.
