I think the strawberry seed/gun swap implies that Frank and Tess were trading things all along. Also, when Bill tells Frank to call Joel, there’s an implication that Bill and Joel had a grudging relationship.
The strawberry scene also shows how much Bill has changed with Frank. When he says he exchanged a (little) gun, everyone watching (including me) cringed for a second wondering what Bill's reaction would be but you see him chuckle and get into the moment.
@@TheBearAspirin Yes very much so, easily shows Bill at his weakest as far as his cold demeanor and lack of trust for anyone. He had become completely domesticated and in love with Frank by that point
That's how he evaded the day of the evac fs but it's clear he had a significant presence in the town in terms of CCTV, and you'd expect townfolk to rat on him as well, or at least I've come to expect the sympathiser turned informant that every captured group has. But it's a valid point all the same, his little basement probably implied a network of scurry holes
In episode 1, Joel said he was on the atkins diet, which seemed a joke. If he was on it though it explains how he dodged the wheat. They also forgot to buy pancake mix and a cake, dodging that wheat too. It is nice to get a little more information on some of this stuff.
It's funny people are mad because Bill and Frank are gay. Boy, the haters are going be surprised when the main character Ellie is a lesbian later. Also did people forget Joel (Pedro) played a bi character in game of thrones? But they have problems with Nick Offerman playing a gay character.
A lot of new people are experiencing this world for the first time, so they're going to have their own opinions and wishes for the world. They'll see things that game fans didn't and they'll (wrongly) believe that decisions like Bill and Frank were to appease anyone, when Bill was known in Part 1 to be a gay man. I think anyone missing that in the game can be forgiven too as it wasn't explicitly stated.
I have not watched the show (yet :D), and won't do for a while. I am really enjoying your reviews here. It is very clear that the first 2 episodes were really different compared to this third one. Even for someone that has not played the games, the first 2 seem to be setting up the world'ish, clarifying what happens and getting people understand the reality of it. This third one seems to get people to be emotionally involved with the world and characters. I find myself wanting to watch it properly to connect all the little bits and pieces you are showing and reviewing. :D
