We are a family of 6 living life in North Pole, Alaska! Where Santa Claus House is right down the street! We love spending time together as a family, having fun, learning through homeschooling, growing in our faith, and building our forever home! Our last brand new car was in 2014, a Ford Escape. We were going from two cars to one because my husband was retiring. Sold our Malibu to CarMax for a truly decent price. Very easy, too. We had a trade-in, an Aveo. Both Chevys were costing us too much in repair bills, too. Trade-in amount was good. Very low loan rate. Made payments for six years; was paid off in 2020. The climate crazies took over; gasoline went sky-high. I love my car. I’m going to drive it for as long as I can. It has less than 30,000 miles on it. I do not want an EV, & I am furious that these are being pushed/forced.

@@UserHunca I had a 2001 Ford Escape XLT. It was a good running SUV. I traded it in for a 2017 Ford Escape in 2019. When I traded it in, it had 322,000 miles on it and it was still running strong. I retired and wanted to get something newer. I miss it at times. Great SUV.

My boss bought a Ford suv and it kept leaking oil. She had it in the dealership shop so much, she basically didn’t get to drive it much. She decided to invoke the lemon law. Ford took her to court and had their expert get on the stand and testify that it was not unusual to have to put a quart of oil in the suv every day. That doesn’t say much for their vehicles. I will never buy a Ford.

Now I know why I have seen so many vehicles here with Alaskan license plates in our area. I heard they have been coming down here, buying vehicles, then driving them to Seattle, taking the ferry, and then driving them into Alaska. Other than the price of vehicles here, they have mentioned that ours don't have rust because of our dry desert climate. I bought my 2005 Minivan brand new, 2 miles on the speedometer, and she now has 280,000 miles on her and still going. I drive her everywhere, even off-roading. LOL! I may be old, but I ain't dead, I still like adventure and to have fun.

Live here in Orange county ,Florida..always bought .... " pre owned " , last one went to 305,297miles!! A tough GMC truck!! Got it for $900, n ,sold it to a junkyard for $450..after driving it to over 305 k miles!! A good truck!! Miss 'em!! Lookin for another!! Your new one, is amazing!! The CRV is a great car. We have one here in Tasmania. It has taken us through floods, unpaved roads, river crossings and snow. 😂😂 yes snow in Aus.. Hope our car lasts a few more years even though our poodle pup has eaten the edge of the back seat while we were on a road trip. While you worry about moose we worry about wallaby and wombats on the road.

I bought a new FWD-only Mazda CX-5 in 2014...$32K? Its been great. Short hwy/city driving it averages ~26mpg. Some long Summer trips, with 4 others in the car its done 35mpg with the AC running the whole time. I've been very happy.

I have a 2006 Chevy Cobalt 4-door no rust completely in good shape and it only has 90,000 Mi on it. And it's continuing to run. I only drive it less than 3,000 miles a year because I'm a senior citizen and the only place I ever go is to the doctor's office or to the grocery store. And it's been a wonderful car and I love it. I only paid $10,000 for it back in 2006 when I bought it it had 32,000 Mi on it it was a leased car but it was in great condition and it's still doing great

I’ve always bought new. I bought a 2016 Honda CRV EX Touring, for $32K cash, sold it to Carmax for $25,400 so it cost me $7K to drive it for 6 years. The only money I put into was a battery and oil changes when the car said it was time. Bought a new 2022 Honda CRV EX-L for $38K put the Carmax $$ towards it and paid cash for the $13K difference. I pamper my vehicles and they are always in a garage, which helps with resell value. Jessica, I’m picky also on the color. I’ve had black before, but they salt our roads here in Ohio and it looks terrible until it is warm enough to wash it. So now I have had several White colored vehicles and that work out great! Ive never bought new. Last summer we bought a 2012 Honda Odyssey from Arizona. My parents drove it up to us in Minnesota. We bought from Arizona so there would be less rust. It eas the most we ever spent on a vehicle but we needed it for our 5 kids.

I'm 70 and have had both new and used vehicles. I'm currently driving a 2005 Honda Pilot that we bought new. It had 6 miles on it and currently has only 59,450. It's a great car and hope to live out my driving days with it. 😊

We live rural, it takes 30-40 minutes to the nearest store etc. Whatever we drive has to be reliable. We're on our 2nd 4-runner, 2001 our first one is still running great. Sadly Toyota royally messed up the 2025 modal / 5th gen will be our last one, no way a turbo 4-cylinder is going to withstand high mileage like we require. Buying a car is never easy, you guys did great! Love your content and love for God.

You made a GREAT color choice. We only pick black also. And the sticker shock of buy 2 new "to us" trucks in the last 2 year hurt!! But both of our previous vehicles were at the don't drive them stage. I felt the SAME SAME emotion as you both so I get it!!! And our vehicles were newer then we ever thought we would get but it was the same prices or better then some older ones we looked at.

Those steps are great, but our motor in the steps went out and now the step stay down all the time. We stay at a Staybridge in Florence, South Carolina last week. It was a wonderful stay.

We have electric steps on our truck they work fine most of the winter. If you can thaw them out every night you’re good.. we are in Fairbanks!

Please to help yourself , check into Ford, if anything happens to the computer in their vehicles, it will cost 4000 to reset computer . Only Ford can do this and they can charge what they want . My brother had a Ford truck , so it is parked and not working . Love your videos and love your family . Good luck on your journey of vehicle looking .❤

I’m a new car gal all the way. In my 20’s I had clunkers, now I’m 69 and my last 4 cars have been new. I always traded mine in and someone got very lucky. Extremely low mileage, TLC inside and out. Never had a problem with new and definitely don’t want to buy someone else’s problems? Congrats nonetheless.

First off, there's nothing wrong with Ford. I worked for 10 years at Ford Motor Co in Germany. Second, what would a replacement engine have cost for the broken vehicle? When I worked in the motor trade we frequently replaced engines on Austins and Morrises with factory reconditioned units and it worked out cheaper than just renewing pistons, valves etc.

Try adding a quart of Lucas oil additive to the old expedition. The quart of oil additive replaces a quart of normal engine oil

my mom has a 2019 ford expedition xlt without sunroof , but that one is super nice my mom ever get and this is her 2nd expedition she ever owns (other was 1999 and sold it) very reliable vehicle to own never ever have a major problems at all.

Bought my 2004 Expedition new, $$$$$ hubs said you’ll drive it until it dies or you retire. 🤣 Retired in 2019 , traded it in, still like new! ( except for the paint bubbling on the rear!) Loved my expedition!

I live in North Carolina and I am 69 years old. I have never bought a new car. The last car I bought is a Chevy Equinox and it was 2 years old when I bought it in 2020. I still love it. It is my retirement gift to myself. I always save my money so I can pay cash, because I hate car payments. It seems as if you make the payments and just get it paid for and it's time to buy a new one.

I’m like you, I bought a 21 Expedition Limited 4x4. I was not going to spend the money they are asking for new vehicles now days. I got one with 55k miles for 42k here in Tucson. I have bought new vehicles in the past, but I just could not do it this time. Even used it cost me more than my first home did!! It has taken me some time getting used to the 10 speed transmission. It seems to get confused around 3-5. It jerks around a little. Fuel, best so far has been 22 mph. It has all the bells and whistles I’m still learning about. I feel just more to go wrong. Lol. I have the captains chairs for my second set of seats which I like. The big sunroof in Az is really not what I’m liking. So far though, I am happy with it. I would not have spent the extra 5k either. I bought a 2012 kia soul brand new. I paid about $27k for it then. I sold it last year for $11,500. Car prices are crazy everywhere. It doesn't matter what the make and model are. I live in Vancouver Canada so these are Canadian dollars. Also the car only had 83,000 kms on it when I sold it which is a little over 50,000 miles.

We buy certified pre owned (usually Mazda). Our son just picked up a certified pre owned Chevy. I don't think we'll ever buy new. Prices are outrageous. And OMG Liv saying bye at the end was the icing on the cake!

Keep close eye on transmission. For the dealership to hold firm on their pricing the way they did, the one that was $5000 more likely has a new transmission.

My husband bought me a brand new 2011 Jeep Patriot.. 4 cylinder.. 4 wheel drive.. love it! I still have my Jeep, love the gas mileage, the color red.. I always had old used cars.. we were blessed that we were able to purchase my Jeep! He worked so hard to provide for our family.. I never want to trade, sell… This was a gift, that I appreciate, and I tell my husband that quite often! Blessings ❤

I had to buy a new a few years ago and I notice how the prices have increased. As we were hit by a massive ice storm buying second hand was not an option as they all had hail stone damage. with hail stone damage in Australia Insurance is difficult to obtain. Ultimately, it you are happy with the car and the price, then it is a good deal

I feel so blessed to say I actually bought a brand new 2023 Subaru crosstrek my 2nd vehicle I paid cash for. You guys did a fantastic job picking a vehicle. Love your sweet family. We buy new. Just got a Yukon XL Denali with employee pricing discount. Saved $12k off the bat. Car industry in lower 48 is crashing as we speak. Do like your dad and buy from the south and ship to Alaska!

It feels safer to drive an SUV than a smaller, lower vehicle, so I would say it is money well spent. It is better to keep the family safe while driving around with all the snow and all the wildlife there. You made a good decision. 😊

You can buy horns that clip to your grill for the moose.We use them in Tn for the deer ,which is everywhere.They hear it and run away.

I've always bought used. I started out with a 2005 subaru legacy white. Then upgraded to a 2015 nissan rogue black. Just recently was in a car accident so in the process of buying a new vehicle, and I gotta agree seems like vehicles are so expensive anymore

With all the discussion about the truck, you didn't mention the year, how old it is, how many miles it actually has on it and whether it's still under warranty, or if an extended warranty is available. All of these things go into a decision about any used car.

I own the same car, but a 2020. Bought used 7/2022 for $46k with 70k miles. Today I am at 126k miles. Has been great, with zero issues, until the transmission started acting up around 115k miles. The 10r80's are known for this. Only other issues are cam phasers, but a 2021 should have the new design. Congrats on the purchase.

The hubby and I went through this roller coaster last year buying my new to me Ford Fusion at Ford. I cringe everytime we make the payment. But 30k for a 2020 with 70k miles and no dings, scratches, damage etc and I have never had a newer nice car, so my hubby got it. He hates it bc of all the fancy smancy, but I just appreciate the fact he forced me(in a good way) to accept I deserved a new car lol. I do enjoy the 32mpg I get bc gas is insane still. I'm 5:01 in and I can tell you that I've never bought a new vehicle and I'm 60. The used vehicles are now so overpriced so I think I'll drive this 2015 Mazda CX5 until it dies. It's a wonderful SUV. I paid like 17K and now they are selling them for 21K. I'm so over this inflation and I'm sure it's way worse in AK.

My husband does not like buying new. Not sure if this happens in America, but in Australia a new cars value drops about 15% the second you drive out of the dealership

I have a love hate relationship with car shopping. Shopping is fun, pricing/negotiation is a headache, and the you deal with the paperwork. Why does it take all day to buy a car? Your mileage question, would depend on how many miles it already had on it. The closer to 100k or over, the less I expect to pay.

I have a 1998 Honda CRV.. have had it for 6 yrs and it runs great... Over 400,000 km now but still great ... I would never buy a Ford. Sorry Found On Road Daily Fix Or Repair Daily Means stay away .. good luck with it... Love watching you all.... Got to run the dog out take care 😊

I would NEVER buy a Honda. My husband’s old Ford truck had over 300,000 miles, but he sold it to a friend. We still drive our 1997 F-150 though. My daily driver is a 2007 Chevy Trailblazer, and it’s still going strong
