Man if they can build these and keep them in the 20k-25k price range they will sell like hotcakes! More people are looking for a useful, smaller pickup and the Tacomas are now as big as first generation Tundras
They will never sell that cheap. The dealers will mark them up like they do everything else. I just about tangle with a rattlesnake than listen to a lying ass car salesman.
Great news. I’m sick of the only option in a ute is some Hugh monster you can’t park neatly anywhere and not be able to open the doors. Plus the absolute crazy prices they charge. I’d buy one.
No one wants a 2 door regular cab. Maybe you and 20 other people. The single cab will be dead in the next few years. It will go the way of automatic seatbelts
You took the words out of my typing fingers. Couldn't agree more. Manual transmission as a option is a huge thumbs up. Small cab and a 6 ft bed would sell like hot cakes for all service work, delivery, fleet vehicles...Please make this happen Toyota. Being the ONLY small truck with a optional 6 ft bed would refreshing and forgotten niche. Drivers who don't need seating for 4-5 people have been overlooked for far too long.
@@stevendouglas6593 this message is for all dealerships and as well as the manufacturer's to show how much that car dealerships are crooks and taking advantage of us the consumers. Not crying about the price upset how easy it is for them to take advantage of us and nothing can be done and how impossible that it's legal to do so.
Basic ac controls. Analog knobs. Not much on the steering column. I doubt they will be able to keep it in the 20k range. Also if it has a Camry motor than how long till people are swapping v6’s in them. I love those old school Moni trucks
TOYOTA, listen to me... STOUT nameplate 6spd Manual & Auto tran Beefy 225hp -250hp engine. Gas, Diesel & Hybrid Towing 5000 lbs. Radical modern design Price -$20-30k "Available GR Turbo (300hp) $35k Sells like a million hotcakes. The new benchmark. Give the guys what they want. A solid, powerful, modern, decent towing, smaller size truck!
The 50/50/50 Hybrid is a great platform. A 50 horsepower, 50 torque, 50 pure electric mile range coupled with a 2.0, 2.5 or 3.0 litre gas motor that could deliver over 50 mpg in a car, crossover, suv or pickup truck with manual or automatic transmissions. I just through a late winter ice storm that knocked out electric power for four days. The roads any highways were littered with electric cars that had run out of juice. I had half a tank of gas so I was forced to stay nearby and only venture out for necessities.
I would kill for a fuel efficient 4 cylinder engine small for truck. I love the concept of a hybrid but I'm just worried about the maintenance cost and reliability.
Selling a $25K mini truck (Stout), while simultaneously selling JDM Kei trucks for 4K. What am I missing? Well, at least this Toyota has the best chance of reaching 300,000 miles. I'll always have a Toyota in my stable.
Yes a reasonably priced compact hybrid truck is what we need . I'm in my mid 20s and still daily my 1999 camry b/c its so reliable & nothing in the US market is good or grabs my interest. All the good stuff is elsewhere ie the suzuki jimny. This toyota though is exciting . Love the boxyness of it but the look needs some revisions. Reminds me of a lego car. Something more like the fj cruiser or something like a modern looking 86-88 4runner pick up. You put something out like that and it would sell like hot cakes . Would definatly take over the maverick and even mall crawler broncos !
Thank you Toyota Engineers/Developers/Markiting its about time someone is listening, 4 years ago i post a comment to Toyota describing the same thing as this editor, except for one thing like I said I mentioned exact wording but forgot that one thing and that is " Unibody" , I did not think of that at all, but never the less give us Die Hard truck driving Toyota, come on in and Bring It Back .Thank you Toyota for going back to the your roots. Oh What A Feeling Toyota!.
Toyota always get it right, you may be able to convert these to full electric when the time comes...they are absolutley on the right track with the hybrid....
I have small pickup toyota 1992 driving for 30 yeas Never gave problem, I Iove my truck. Many people want to buy.. I can't waiting for this NEW ONE. I WILL BUY.
Working definition of a pickup truck. A vehicle with an open bed that takes up more chassis space than the cab. Got it, Toyota? Nope? Didn't think you could.
Saw today local CL 200k miles Tundra 15yrs old selling for 25k and if this new truck comes out here in US I will buy in a heartbeat.I am afraid if not act quickly it will sell out matter of hours for entire year of production.
I am a longtime Ford customer and just recently I did a trade in at my local Ford dealership and I managed to get my hands on a 2015 model Toyota RAV4 which was the result of the local trade-in of course but now I'm curious this new truck that's going to be based off of the RAV4 chassis I have read an article a few hours ago that said this vehicle is being designed to win back RAV4 customers because apparently a lot of people have been taking their RAV4s to Ford dealerships and trading it in for a 2023 Ford Maverick pickup, and now this new pickup is being designed by Toyota to compete with the Maverick. But at any rate I'm absolutely loving the RAV4. :) I was just simply wondering if the rumors have been hearing are true.
How about making another Tacoma for me? Single cab, 4 cylinder, 5 spd mt with a 6'2" bed? The one I already own has been unbelievably reliable and a perfect work truck with it's large, over-the-cab ladder rack. It has 300k miles, so I'll be looking for a newer one when it hits 500k. I hope you figure out what we want by then. Toyota messed up when they started making only double cabs after 2012.
Access cab is perfect, just enough room behind the seats to store a few items out of site, or put the regular stuff you carry with you. Extended cabs with those chintzy seats just are not worth the loss of bed length.
Liking the look of the CGI pictures for the new Toyota stout pick-up. Would love to see it be body on frame withe a transfer case /4x4 low and gas engine. Something cheaper than a Tacoma still descent off road that can carry 4 passengers and 500-600 lbs of of stuff. If Toyota needs an ev more city oriented compact pick up they need to look into turning the RAV4 into that. Then they can make the stout into a cheaper truck for those who want descent gas mileage some truck capability like 4 passengers maybe throwing 500-600 lbs in the bed besides, and the sweet spot for towing with this size truck would be 5000lbs limit. If the truck can do this be us for going camping or mountain road and moderate trails you would have my dream truck if buying new. But if all trucks continue to be 40k or more for midsize and more like 50kplus for full size i will be trying to find a used deal at some point. I would not buy a unibody compact pick but until someone makes my dream compact pick I will keep dreaming. I would buy a hybrid but not a plug in hybrid or all electric vehicle.
Thanks for posting so many of us do not need big big gas guzzling pickup trucks anymore board Maverick has all the started I've been waiting over here for mine getting pretty sick of it
Retro 4?cylinder 4x4 manual transmission gasoline low tech is what the market wants and no chips at an affordable price. Durable, Simple to maintain and affordable = Toyota would sell millions! Date the marketing departments float the idea of an analog no frills worker to judge the interest.
2 door with extended cab and 6 ft bed Turbo on 4 cylinder 22R engine! Simple but effective just like 90s and early 2s models. 4dr with same engine set up but ability to to increase 4 ft bed to 6 ft. Seats with bed metal on the back to line up with existing 4ft bed and maybe hinged rear windshield or a removable one like the 68-72 corvettes yeah baby!
I would be happy if we could just get the hi-lux here in the states. Would def be more than 25K but it would be the last truck you would ever have to buy.
As long as it's not FWD like the Maverick and Santa Cruz. That mini FJ Cruiser concept they have is pretty cool too and likely shares the same platform as this one.
I have a Maverick on order. Ordered it as soon as it was available. To replace my 09 Ranger I am SICK of these giant trucks/SUV's! I have had full size trucks, and they just don't suit me.
Why does every truck have to have 2 doors? When P/U trucks came with 2 doors nobody complained and said I wish I had 2 doors. Now there’s a whole generation of people who can’t imagine a truck big or small with two doors. What are we doing here?
Just bring back the Toyota pickup you made in the early 80's . We don't need more of this 4 door junk . Besides a vehicle that size is to small for 4 doors . If they want doors they can go buy a suv or larger pickup .
