Darren Boman I work at a dealer in WA. We JUST got 2020 Macans last week. We got our 19s like 8 months late (couple months ago) because of the stupid government doing emission inspections at the port
FWIW, my '17 Audi A4 also allows Waze to run in the background and it's a lifesaver. I much prefer Apple Maps or Google Maps for Nav services via Carplay but the ability for Waze to alert is huge. Good job pointing this out to people who may not be aware of this. Cheers.
Get out of the left lane if you're not passing. Idk about CT, but alot of states it's illegal. Not like they enforce it, but it's the thought that counts
Yeah Nick what are you doing? I'm sure you don't appreciate people cruising along in the left lane when you want to go a little faster. Don't do it to others
Sadly most drivers in CT don’t understand what the left lane is for. Also in CT you will find on-ramp merging into the left-most passing lanes which really makes you think wtf.
You have to agree Macan is the most sporty 4 seater Porsche especially in that price range. Easily the best driving SUV in the market as well... The high speed stability of Macan is unbelievable... For me with 2 kids having Macan is closest I can get to a sports car feel on road trips...
I've had my silver 2019 Macan S (my first ever Porsche) since May and driven 7,000 miles (11,000 kms), and love every minute that I'm sitting in it. Great car ! It's a sporty, luxury SUV.
@@ormand3000 Wrong - I ordered my Macan from Porsche; Porsche designed and built the Macan; Porsche sold it to me. It has a 'Porsche' badge. I have a Porsche Macan. Yes, I know that the engine is from Audi, which is also a premium brand that makes excellent engines: Audi is a sister company to Porsche: they collaborate. ALL cars are assembled of parts from various manufactures: brakes callipers from one company, brake discs from another, tyres from a tyre manufacturer etc., etc. What's your problem ? Why are you trying to disrespect me ?
Hi Nick, 2020 Macan will have USB-C chargers. The smart phone compartment will have wireless charging too. PSCB brakes are offered too. Thanks for the videos.
Hey Nick, I like your open and honest discussions about Porsche cars you have owned and cars in general. I think you are a motor enthusiast like many of us out there. I just bought a 2019 Panamera 4E hybrid. Here's what I propose - a first among Porsche owners globally - why dont you fly over to Norway (Stavanger) next summer and we can drive around in my Porsche while sometime later I can visit you and you can show me around where you live in your Porsche. Each pays for flights and the host, well hosts with food and accommodation for a few reasonable amount of time. Each gets to discover and explore a new country, another Porsche and meet another Porsche owner. And then another. And then another. A truly first global Porsche owner's club.
Sad to see it go Nick. I have a 2017 Macan S Diesel in Volcano Grey here in the UK and it’s a stunning daily car and wonderful for the motorway. I prefer the old model rear lights to the silly new rear light bar. To any Porsche fan who hasn’t tried a Macan you need to give it a go. So luxurious and comfortable
Hi! Yes that is a good idea. I got the Turbo and 20” were standard. When I was thinking about 19” a number of people in the Porsche world said that the Turbo with the 19” wheel is not enough tire. The issue is rear tire width circa 40mm narrower at rear on the 19”s so they would not provide enough stick an positive throttle. I was not able to drive a Turbo with the 19”s to test the hypothesis. I think the 20”s are OK on the bad NYC roads but would love to have that extra margin of sidewall the 19”s provide. Has anyone on the thread run a Macan Turbo with 19” with all season or summer tires?
Color can certainly impact the Macan. My wife’s 2017 S is in “Mahogany”. Much less pedestrian than many of the other more standard color options. As always thanks for another enjoyable vlog episode. 👍🏻
My 2017 macan S DOES run waze in the background while listening to Spotify. I pick a destination, then hit stop then go to my music and it alerts me of police, etc. It's so nice. My apple car play totally lets me go in and out it works fantastic. Just have to be plugged in to work but that's ok.
FYI I have a 2018 macan gts. With carplay enabled and waze open in the background, it still has notifications of police/road hazards. For instance if you're on the spotify screen or google maps screen, waze notifications still play in the back
I live in a city that is an hour from the nearest Porsche and Audi dealers yet I see way more Q5’s here than Macan’s. They share the same drivetrain yet reports say that the Q5 has a roomier rear seat. The Q5 also has more leather inside.
I agree with you about color but in the end didn’t care enough and ended up with 2017 CPO black-on-black. I just don’t care about color as much as you do. Thanks for your help with your dealer but I went with my local Greenwich dealer. It is a brilliant luxury car. Cheers!
As an Audi Q5 owner in which the Macan is based on. I know what you mean. It is an SUV that works best when driven in a relaxed manner and pushed at 30-50%. Once you get it above that level, You'll quickly start to think about a sporty sedan like a BMW 3 series or Porsche sports car. I am not sure a Macan S will be able to fix your cravings for a sports car though. You may end up getting a real sports car in the end.
2:13 for many cars today, the colour pallette is limited to black, white, silver, some type of grey metallic, and one shade of blue. It's depressing. In the 1980s you could buy an Oldsmobile in a myriad of colours many having 2 or 3 shade variants, with pinstripe, two tone paint, and Landau roof options. It was fantastic.
Good to see you back in the saddle Nick! In 2017 I tested the PP vs the Base Macan and actually found the Base to be the most relaxing in town. The PP was just too high strung. This year I tested the new 2019 Base and found it a bit wheezy on the country roads, but it might have something to do with coming from a Panamera ST Turbo.. But why a Macan? Aren’t you a single dude now in need of something more potent like a 911 or Cayman?
You should have gotton the Turbo. The additional power is transformational. Still too heavy too high to feel a sportscar in corners. More like a GOOD sports sedan. Gives some 911 feel via the staggered wheels and incredible rear wheel stickiness.
Same here in the UK. Nearly every car on the road is grey. I actually saw a red Land Rover Evoque today. I though they only made grey ones 😂 It’s a total yawn fest. A few years back it was white, inspired by Apple’s obsession with white at the time apparently. To quote Monty Python: ”We are all individuals. Yes, we are all individuals!” I filled up with petrol/gas yesterday and the lady behind the counter said: “I love the colour of your car. Never seen a BMW that colour before.” Mine is Sunset Orange and I love it. Mind you, I’ve seen reviewers comment that they love Sunset Orange, but would still buy a grey one! What happens when grey becomes ‘last year’s colour’ and there’s a glut for sale secondhand that no one wants? Be yourself. Buy what you like people!
Interesting the assignable steering wheel button (diamond button) will not advance the track when using the Apple Car Play music app in your 2019 Macan. The button in my 2018 Macan works perfectly with Apple Car Play. I noticed the difference when I had a 2019 loaner from the dealer. The assignable button also works fine with Apple Car Play music in my 2019 911. Guess it was a PCM change, or omission, by Porsche. (Incidentally my 2018 Macan did not come with the Apple Car Play option but I was able to retrofit it to my car with a software upgrade.)
Nick! I have a cool idea for a premium mid engine super car! Guess?? ....RIGHT, a 2020 Corvette. No one better to review the new Vette. Best 80+k your channel ever spent!
I have a 2004 Ford with more dents and scratch that you can count and I'm emotionally attach to it. Few years back I had to change the transmission. It takes me back and forth to where I need. I'm an American because I was born in the Dominican Republic but of European parents and ancestor. To me the real Americans are those that look Mexicans
@@mattwasilewicz9677 Most dealers in my experience put no value on PPF or ceramic Coatings for trade in. Even if he wanted to get 50% back of the 10K the tax benefits would be very little if any. Probably just doesn't want to deal with the hassle.
@@chrisethans8233 Most dealers honestly don't care but the manufacturer may care if he's trying to get a better chance at a allocation. Many people like to show off them getting a new car from the dealer. On the other side though if they screw up it could be a problem. Imagine when someone starts showing scratches or damage after a car was improperly serviced tarnishing the dealership.
Hello sir, I’d like to talk to you about Macan GTS. Have you accepted GTS as your lord and savior? Actually, I think I can explain why Macan GTS matters. Hopefully. So, the 911 and Cayman are already sports cars. So a GTS trim might be just an options package. But the Macan is not a sports car. So the GTS trim makes more of a difference to the Macan. The engine map is different (must be to get that HP bump from the same engine, right?) and it handles better. So does it make it a sports car? Well it’s as close as an SUV can get in my opinion. So the way I see it: Turbo is the fastest Macan, and GTS is the sportiest Macan. I suppose that makes the S the best value Macan so whether that’s good enough may be just a matter of how eccentric you are. So really, please drive one. I’m interested in the new GTS so I need you to scrutinize it for me. Really appreciating all the info in these latest Macan videos. Thanks!
Given you have found a reliable Porsche that you like that is in a popular colour which is good for resale and your only issue is the colour would it not make sense to just get a wrap? You could even have it pink if you want!
Congrats on the next Macan Nick! I happen to like my Cayenne S in Quartzite Grey Metallic but hey to each his own as they say. I think with the limited number of color choices on the new cayenne that seemed to be the best choice other than plain black to me? White cars a are kinda girlie if you ask me but whatever. Also Cayenne is bigger and bright colors like Lava Orange seemed a bit over the top to me anyway! Another terrific video and keep pissing off those GTS guys! Cheers.
good lookin' out Nick, if i was in the market for one, I'd hit you up. does your dealer also run similar discounts on outgoing model year for caymans/911s? also, you the sound effect in the transition into the 4 banger macan made it seamless
Yes the Macan GTS owners are defensive because they’re insecure about the fact they didn’t get the turbo. The GTS is an S with a few insignificant options. Most GTSs are optioned up beyond the base price of a turbo.
Well Nick ... took my Turbo S in for its first service and I thought of you when they gave me a Macan , Nice right , but I cried when I punched it AWWWW where’s my baby.
Thanks for clearing up sport mode. I thought it lowered the Macan, ejected the rear seats, changed glass roof to cloth, and moved the engine just behind the driver. Or is that only in the GTS.
How are you liking it so far? I've been driving the base model Macan and it feels pretty solid for a 2.0. Specially when you put it in sport mode and use the paddle shifters.
um-- sure hope it's not too spendy to switch to the '20, merely for color. That is the only thing u've ever decided on that makes less than zero sense to me. I'd wait a year more to get different color, by which time, u might want a different model. This really 'seems' like early midlife crisis-light type thing, so if so, maybe put the money toward some other endeavor or anything. It's just not worth it for non-gray color--just isn't and any personal friend/family or professional thinker, would say same. No idea if u've ever considered the LR Defender, the new one, but it's worth considering and relatively inexpensive.
Nick - in regards your comment that the previous version of the PCM did not allow apps like Waze to run I’m the background, is this not an evolution of CarPlay itself and also allowing Waze to be part of the apps? In minute 12:48 do we see your home address :-0? The little arrow to the right of the CarPlay screen is to indicate there is a second page of apps and not expand, me thinks.
Porsche should have cut a deal with Mazda to buy their 2.5 ltr turbo engine. They could have easily tuned it to kick out 300 hp. Mazda conservatively keeps it at 250 hp with premium fuel.
