After nine months in Australia, it’s time to say goodbye! We tie up all our loose ends and set sail for a 3,000 mile passage across the Indian Ocean to the Maldives, one of the only countries open allowing non-vaccinated tourists to enter at miminal cost.

So so soooo sad to seperate and have to go our different courses. After being almost joined at the hip, especially the boys, for 2021 it was a tough decision for us to stay and feels like farewelling family, not knowing when we might be reunited. Kieth and his wife are fake. Spent the last 19months taking about not taking an experimental treatment. Now their heading back to America for Xmas. So rather than continue to stand up for what they had be saying for 19months, they have folded because it’s easier to comply than stand alongside a persecuted minority. If you can’t see fascism running rampant throughout the world then you not educated yourself on fascism. Hope this explains my opinions. Thanks, hope you have a wonderful day.

I’m not a sailor in anyway, shape or form but your kids seem like pretty accomplished sailors to me. At least they are well on their way. You gave them all a real gift when you chose this lifestyle. The dividends will provide a payoff lasting the rest of their lives.

I realize they’re kids & sometimes kids do foolish or thoughtless things, like leaving a hatch open while under way. Fortunately, it wasn’t the end of he world. That’s what parents are for.

I’m so jealous of how much control you have over who your family is exposed to. I’m dealing with my kids coming home from school and testing positive for Covid . Not only is your wife an excellent home school teacher , you are a great teacher of life. Your kids will never forget what they’ve learned and have a good foundation of life skills . Hats off to the Zatara crew.

Great video ! I had a St.Bernard with that same dinghy love look :) The cost of visiting these countries is a shocker; Phuket costs $7000 to visit?! You should do a video or FAQ that explains the visiting tourist costs.

I sailed across the Indian Ocean twice. It's incredibly hot and in places the sea was like glass with no wind. I also remember seeing flying fish every where. They would leap out of the water and flap their pectoral fins and would sail over the water a pretty good distance then dive back in. The nights however, are incredible. You can see the Milky Way almost completely. You can see billions of points of light and you see the disk of the galaxy. You have to be in total darkness and hundreds of miles from man made lights to see that. I remember on clear nights you could see shooting stars almost every hour.

So happy Keith got his dingy back, a man can’t survive without his dingy ☺️ Glad your freezing peppers Renee, preserving food is a must for me and I live on land 😘 Just an idea for you, a great way to preserve food is with a $50 dehydrator, saves space in your freezer, fridge and storage compartments!!! It is so easy to do, retains most of the nutrients in food, saves space and weight, keeps a long time and gives you more variety. Looking at all those bananas on your table made me think of it because home dried bananas are like eating banana candy, they come out like fruit leather, chewy gold !!! Apples sprinkled with cinnamon then dehydrated are Devine ! Throw store bought frozen vegetables in there and then put in airtight jars or bags, a 2lb bag of peas is less than 1 cup after dried, no freezer burn, no spoilage and keeps for a year or three 😍 I’ve got 4 dehydrators 😉one going now with “sun dried” tomatoes and one with herbs, I’m headed to the garden to get more vegetables 🥰 anyway it’s an easy way to store food. Blessings to y’all, I sure hope you get to see Anna soon ❤️

Yes! I just got in to dehydrating, I take all of our vegetables and greens, that are starting to go bad, dehydrate and then powder them. Add to smoothies and other recipes, we are now down to ZERO food waste

This along with a vacuum sealer and you’re good to go for long term food storage!! Just make sure to either over dry the food more so than usual or use food packs that suck out the rest of the air before sealing in case there’s any remaining moisture in there because even a little bit can ruin the whole batch of food!

Good episode. May want to add one or more tarps for sun protection to the ditch bag as well as dyes for daytime, salt tablets, cash. I always added a sextant, almanac and waterproof slate and marking pens. To prevent ditch bag from getting too big or cumbersome best way is to have two, one secured in dinghy and other easily accessible. I think if she wanted to, Kate could get her Captain’s License before Jack or Fynn could. She has that no nonsense ability much like Anna that the boys lack. Have a safe passage Z Crew

I have never realised that world maps are different depending on where in the world you buy them. I have only travelled through Europe and Africa and all world maps I've seen has had America to the left, and Europe/Africa in the middle. Ha ha...

You can freeze bananas also. I peel them, cut into 1” chunks, put them on flat tray to freeze. When they freeze, then dump them in bag in freezer and they won’t stick thoghter.

I keep old ugly sweaters and Coats in the cars for all the family so they won't take them out and wear it. Plus cans of ravioli's, mixed fruit and bottles of water.

My dad got hooked on these videos about 3 years ago and now he wants to go sailing. He bought a boat and we're leaving in January. But I don't know how I feel about it, I'm 14 and still in high school.. I kind of want to go to high school.. but I also think sailing across the world is an amazing opportunity.. but I'm just conflicted.. But I love being on the water.. We have had other motorized boats and Lake Powell is a family tradition on our Cabin Cruiser.. but committing to a new life style is a little scary. I'm not sure how I feel.

You should look at your sunblock expiration date - the old sun block in the ditch bag. There was a recent article that old sunblock changes chemically once it expires and can cause cancer. You can probably find an article on it.

regular cereal....bad meal. Steel Oats, natural grains, fruit cups (on passage) 6 bean mix with basmati vinegar and olive oil, cheeses, eggs (from frozen), yes you can freeze eggs. Place 6 eggs (out of shell) in to bowl. Mix thoroughly and add 1/4 tsp of sugar then place in a small freezer bag. Good for up to 6 months. Another idea; crack eggs into ice cube tray then freeze.
