Hi everyone, welcome back to another entry of my diary.

After months of living in my car, I decided to take a break and return to Vancouver for Chinese New Year
Back in Vancouver, everything feels so familiar-my old office, my desk, and the city itself. Life here is a lot more predictable: work, eat, sleep, repeat.
Being under a real roof has made me realize how much I miss stability. And it got me thinking-is car living the best way to figure out where I belong?
As I leave Vancouver once again, I have made up my mind “Once i return from Europe, It’s time to close this wild car-living chapter of my life.” But, is it really what happened?

Please take care of your mental health, there are times you let your emotions run wild. Don't let the weather affect you. It is part of life. You should read some advice from people. Best of luck & hope you can find peace and make friends

Hannah I hope you can also take some advice from others and dont just listen to comments that you agree with. Take in some constructive criticism. Your emotions rely on weather alot, which should not be the case. If you are genuinely at peace and happy, you will feel the same even during stormy weather because nothing can make you feel down. Weather is part of the world and not something we can control. We can however control our emotions and by being grounded. Being too emotional is also not healthy. When you travel too much, sometimes you may think theres something better out there, but in reality it may not be true. Put in more effort in reaching out to people to make new friends wherever you are and hope you can find some support for your mental and emotional health as well. Humans are meant to live and grow in a community, so I hope you can find your community soon and be less lonely. All the best

You are still too emotional. Please reach out to new people and make some friends Hannah. Wishing you best of luck and yes maybe you always feel the need to move about, leaving places/countries and not feel at home because you were living in a car for some time which was not sustainable. Hope you seek the emotional and mental support you need. You will only know you are truly happy and contented when bad weather does not affect your mood. Wishing you best of luck and hope you can grow.

Oh no you left Halo behind. He's gonna be lonely without you now and it may affect his health. Travelling around in Europe alone as a woman can be dangerous, please stay safe. You can be emotionally all over the place Hannah, you gotta learn to be more logical and less emotional. Take care of yourself and you have to know your limits always. Hope you find some friends because you still sound lonely

Life is not about surviving. It's about living. And living in a car is not truly living. If you have a job and can afford to pay rent for a small space, it is worth it. Sure, you save money, but money means nothing when you are not truly living.

Depends on how you look at it. Freedom. To travel. No worries about bills. Some people live better than others without those things. No doing what you want to do. That's what I call living. Straight gangster.

As an international student currently in the Uk, I believe that making friends and conncections is incredibly important because my first year here was incredibly lonely. I believe were biologically programmed to socialise and if we dont, our limbic brain just starts putting us down and it develops into depression.

I used to live in Silicon Valley. I was a teacher, and I knew many single young teachers. I know housing prices and rent in that area are high. However, even on a modest teacher salary, all of my single colleagues had a home. I am sure Hannah makes more money (or at least the same) as my colleagues, and I am not sure the reason Hannah chose to live in a car. The only thing that made sense to me is that Hannah wanted to save money. But what is money? We know money can't buy happiness. It's what we get for working, so we can live. Watching these videos has been hard for me. I hope Hannah didn't value money more than herself and put it above her safety, happiness, health, comfort, dignity, etc. If you have a home, it's much easier to build connections, as you can invite people over. There are ways to live simply, but living in a car while you have a full time job is not it. You can rent a room, you can rent a cheap studio in a not so nice part of town and make it a nice home, you can get a room in a mobile home, or live in a trailer. There are so many options. I hope Hannah knows that she is worth having a place of her own, and that no amount of money is more important than her safety, health, and happiness. (By health, I meant both physical and mental.)

hi Hanah, so next time when you back to California, please rent small place. living in the car may save some money. the cost is your energy ，you never sleep as good as when you sleep on a real bed.

I think it’s difficult to really experience a city when you don’t live in an actual dwelling, whether a house or an apartment, because doing so makes you have to live like those who live there do. Particularly chores such as going to the grocery or home store, in addition to the recreational and social places. Good luck Hannah!

Leaving Halo must have been very difficult and also for Halo. Halo will really miss you. It is good to see the stability and friend you have in Vancouver. Must have been a total change after living alone in a car for so many months. Wish you well and be safe in your next journey.

Thanks. I can't take him on vacation because I don't want to risk anything happening to him on the flight (too many horror stories of dogs dying in the cabin due to oxygen issues)

sometimes you just have to take different paths to find the right one, to find clarity as to what you want, and you did that and with your experience you probably have a much better idea of what you want and need to truly and happily live on. Hats off to you

Frankly you need some good friends in your life, join some clubs socialize with people you admire and can learn from. You have too many choices in your live and running from one to the next when the going gets tough.

I think Hannah might be afraid of commitment, which could explain why she avoids settling down in one place. From my experience traveling the world and building lives in two challenging locations-LA and Hawaii-I’ve learned that if you truly want something, consistency and perseverance are key. However, constantly moving without focusing on building the life you desire can detract from forming meaningful connections. Some of my closest friends came from simply showing up consistently and taking the time to get to know new people.

I wish you a great time in Europe and then a great reunion with halo! I had to leave the city where i did my studies and was very rooted (just felt like „my city“) after graduation for my first job. The first year I was really homesick and unhappy, had a inner feeling of being ready to leave the new town at every moment. I only saw the negative aspects for a long time. However I got a great job opportunity (medical specialization) there and decided to stay. After 2-3 years the „new“ town started to feel like home. I slowly built a social network, have great neighbourhood with neighbours becoming trusted friends, have my favorite Café spots and shops and I have learned to appreciate the positives of my city (it is a very unglamorous german city but very green and you can go everywhere by bike and live relatively cheap). Roots and a social Circle take time! You will find or Build this I am sure, but I guess you need some time and calm (eg fixed spot) for that

I am from San Jose, Silicon Valley. I work in a big known tech company where mostly Indians and Chinese. One Chinese guy asked me if I know any parties that I can invite him. He wants to meet girls. He’s already 25. He also asked me if he looked nice with his new hair cut. He also told me that he wants to go to the gym to look more masculine. He’s a typical Chinese guy. You can meet him if you want. He lives in San Francisco and drives a Tesla car like yours.

Why do I feel like this is me when I finished my CS degree and started my work life. I’m an introvert and socially awkward and I’m still trying to understand myself. honestly at this point I think you overstayed your welcome in car living. It probably not good for your mental health. you should probably plan for the next 5-10 years do you want to stay in California or go back to Vancouver. What is better for you and halo long term in terms of quality of life, friends and family, relationship. If you live in California to be closer to your job your probably going to have to get roommates or live further away from work. If you quit your job and live van life and travel the country would be cool for like a year. Going back to Vancouver would be cool too. All you have to do is think long and hard what you what for your future and take actions to achieve that because only that will make you happy in the long term

I am glad you got the opportunity to work somewhere else. It is only then that you can figure it out what feels like home. I think at the end of the day, the city that feels like home is the place where there are people that understand and love you. It is not so important to figure out where to settle down but it is better to understand what you need and what can work to maintain that balance between work and personal life.

I'm not sure what ur doing exactly. enjoy your life girl, lease and break the lease if you don't like it (yes you pay more but you buy freedom) don't be afraid. fly on business class, life is short and you are wasting valuable time by staying in a car. Money is not everything. time is.
