I decided to put together a bunch of random autocross runs from the Goodguys Des Moines 2020 event. These aren't all the cars that were racing at Des Moines but it's a decent amount of them.
Thank you so much! I wasn't there that year but I've spent a whole bunch of really fun days at that show over the years, and quite a few hours watching them autocross. That includes several of the cars you show.
Most are rear wheel drive but some guys that run optima events and events like Grid Life do run AWD and are very competitive. Most Goodguys events are classic vehicles hence the rear wheel drive.
@@Phuong_Nguyen_ well at a Goodguys event it depends on how many vehicles show up. If they get 100 vehicles that want to autocross you’re probably only going to get 4 runs max a day. If only 20 cars show up you might get 20 runs or more. So it really depends on the vehicle count
Of course. The handling is different with getting in and out of corners but there’s many drivers that autocross Honda’s. It’s just not the goto setup but certainly you could.
Arcane Shadows I had a Saturn ion although it wasn’t the redline model. There should be a SCCA near you that does autocross track days for novice and advanced
@Mukund Shivakumar, stupidly accurate. Drag racing is basically only an engineering thing. And cars like most things usually get better if you throw money at the problem so it’s a sport of who has the most money
