Goofs in Rusty to the Rescue 

What’s weirdest about this episode is how does a narrow gauge line run all the way to the other railway? This line is never seen again

In the UK and international versions, Thomas has Edward's whistle sound as he passes through Bluebell Valley Station. This is fixed in the US dub. In the same scene, Clarabel is also facing the wrong way. In the UK and international dubs, when Rusty and Stepney return, Thomas, Gordon and James' whistle sounds are heard, yet they are nowhere to be seen. This is because stock audio of the engines whistling is reused from the first series episode, Thomas' Christmas Party. Rusty's truck and brake van disappear in the close-up shot of the driver in the cab. Dried-up glue is visible around Rusty's face during the line, "Right, we'll find [a 'Bluebell Engine'] tomorrow." When Rusty first arrives on the Other Railway, some chains are hanging beside the signal box, but when Rusty says "Oh, what's that?", the chains disappear. When Stepney's fire is lit, one of the people inside him is wearing a driver's uniform for the North Western Railway rather than the usual Skarloey Railway one Stepney and Rusty's drivers wear. There is visibly a chip in Rusty's paintwork when his engineer agreed to be Stepney's fireman. The tar wagon seen between BoCo and Daisy disappears in the last shot of the Other Railway. On the Other Railway, the diesels constantly change places: When the voice calls out, "Who are you?" Mavis has somehow moved from Rusty's right to behind Diesel. In the shot after Rusty says, "Then I'll just go and inspect," Mavis is back to her original position, Diesel has somehow moved in front of her and Class 40 appears in front of BoCo. In the point-of-view shot of Rusty escaping, Mavis is on Daisy's track. In the following shot, Daisy is on the far right track and Class 40 has somehow moved to the smaller shed. Additionally, Mavis and Diesel have moved to the narrow gauge track. In the final shot of the Other Railway, Daisy and Class 40 are back in their original positions. In the shot after Rusty escapes past BoCo, Rusty and Stepney pass a shed they already should have passed. When Stepney and Rusty are on the Standard and Narrow Gauge Viaduct, the house and shed next to the track have moved compared to when Rusty went over the viaduct the first time. Stepney's eyes are misaligned in the final shot. In the Danish narration, when Rusty is taking fuel, the narrator incorrectly says that Rusty is drinking water, despite him being a diesel.

Here are the Goofs found in Thomas and Stepney this one has a lot of Goofs. Goof 1 clarabel is derailed in the background Goof 2 Thomas's headlamp is crooked. Goof 3 Thomas's whistle valve seem to be crooked. Goof 4 studio equipment on top of the corner. Goof 5 Percy's lamp iron is crooked. Goof 6 in the next scene it's normal. Goof 7 Thomas's eyes are wonky. Goof 8 Percy's face moves. Goof 9 Percy smoke box seems to. be Dusty in the previous scene It. was sparkling clean. Goof 10 studio equipment reflecting off of Percy's eyes. Goof 11 Percy's eyes are wonky. Goof 12 the narrator cut his speech. Goof 13 what whistle sound does Percy have this is definitely a goof. Goof 14 Stepney has dukes whistle. Goof 15 take a look at Stepney's funnel it's upscaled in the previous scene it was small this is definitely a goof. Goof 16 there is some sticky tack on Rusty's headlamp. Goof 17 Rusty's eyes seem to be wonky. Goof 18 Stepney's eyes are wonky. Goof 19 Percy's whistle is crooked. Goof 20 Percy's funnel is low scaled. Goof 21 Douglas's name plate is loose. Goof 22 Edward's eyes are wonky. Goof 23 Edward's face is dirty. Goof 24 Edwards whistle is crooked. Goof 25 oh my God Stepney has. Duke's whistle again so wait so he's going to change whistles left and right this is definitely a goof. Goof 26 Thomas's eyes are still a little bit wonky. Goof 27 when did Stepney gained headlamps in the previous scene he didn't have any headlamps. Goof 28 also when did duck gain a headlamp. Goof 29 and duck's headlamp is crooked. Goof 30 studio equipment reflecting off of Thomas's eyes. Goof 31 Stepney's iron lamp seems to be crooked. Goof 32 duck's eyes are wonky. Goof 33 if you listen very closely if you slow down the video when the singlalman answers the telephone you can hear somebody I don't know what it is this is definitely a goof though. Goof 34 one of the passengers arms is falling off. Goof 35 Thomas's cab is dirty. Goof 36 don't you mean in unfamiliar WHISTLE. Goof 37 also Stepney gain another headlamp. Goof 38 there is a spec on Thomas's cab. Goof 39 Thomas's eyes are wonky. Goof 40 there is a headlamp on one. of the coaches that doesn't make any sense at all. Goof 41 Thomas's face plate is falling off. Goof 42 that might have been a cut film they were going on in the episode but however it was cutted at that scene so this is definitely a goof. Goof 43 Stepney's wheel is derailed. Goof 44 Stepney's headlamp is crooked. Goof 45 Thomas's eyebrows seem to be Missangled. Goof 46 Thomas whistle valve is missing. Goof 47 if you look closely at Thomas there is a chip in his paint. Goof 48 studio equipment reflecting off of Stepney's funnel. Goof 49 there's a big gap between the eye and the face. Goof 50 Stepney's smoke box is dirty not very easy to see. Goof 51 studio equipment reflecting off of Stepney's buffer's. Goof 52 Stepney's lamp iron is crooked. Goof 53 Thomas is dirty in the previous scene he was clean. Goof 54 Thomas whistle valve is damaged.

Gordon has Duck’s whistle sound pretty much throughout season 4. Also, I didn’t hear Thomas’ whistle sound when Rusty made it home with Stepney.

When you watch Rusty to the Rescue but then afterwards watch Stepney gets lost, you really can't stop watching it.

Btw, Thomas has edward's whistle because that's his alternative whistle, and gordon has duck's whistle cause its his alternative whistle, so yea they dont count as goofs.

Time frame 1:29 you can see Gordon in the back hauling trucks instead of his express

3:49 Stepney is referred to by his name even though he hasn't been introduced yet by the narrator, then at 4:39 he is referred to as "the engine", before finally being formally introduced at the end of the episode. Also, the manager from Duke's old railway is seen at the end even though he should really be dead by now (maybe it's his son or grandson?) Also, Stepney says "I wouldn't be here if it weren't for Rusty." This is bad grammar; it should be "...if it WASN'T for Rusty."

There's a goof you missed at 1:58. When the narrator says Rusty's driver came back to the shed, it's actually a siding. Also at 3:52 when the narrator said that Rusty's engineer agreed to be Stepney's firemen, that would be impossible because Rusty wouldn't be able to move on his own.

When Rusty asks Douglas where to find another engine. Gordon was pulling trucks in the background.

A small piece of trivia, the scene where Rusty and Stepney return, the engine whistle sound effects (being reused from "Thomas' Christmas Party") are replaced in the US version with a stock crowd cheering sound effect (that being from the Hollywood Edge Sound Effects Library), and it's the same one that was also used over a hundred piece of media since the 1990's with such examples being, just to name a few, Batman Returns, Phineas and Ferb, The Brady Bunch Movie, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Aladdin (2019), Shrek 2, SpongeBob SquarePants, Camp Rock, Criss Angel Mindfreak, Family Guy, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and The Book of Boba Fett. I think the reason that it was only in the US version is because that version was the first to air (it first aired on the Shining Time Station family special "Once Upon a Time" in January 1995, and then on the Rusty to the Rescue VHS which was released a month later), and then for the UK version, they went back and changed it to be those stock engine whistles. Also, the Sound Effects Wiki claims that it's on both the US and UK versions, but the Thomas the Tank Engine Wiki states that it's only on the US version. Thus we can conclude that that sound effect is only present in the US version and not the UK and international versions. Hence why I think the UK version is the superior version (that and also using additional whistle sound effects). P.S. Please do not set me a link to both that sound effect and its Sound Effects Wiki page, because #1, I wish not to hear it yet, and #2, it's one of the most overused stock sound effects in all of media (this and another stock crowd cheering, that being used in "Three Cheers for Thomas" and "Harold and the Flying Horse" in Series 7, along with that stock crowd gasping (which I think is the #1 most overused stock sound effect in all of media), the "Baby Kate Cry" (the most annoying and irritating one of all time), and that stock train horn sound effect (the one used in Power Rangers (2017), Are We There Yet?, and Me, Myself and Irene)).

You missed a couple Goofs in this episode there was paper on Stepney's iron lamps. and Douglas's eyes are wonky. and the truck next to Rusty disappeared in the next scene. Notice how Rusty and Stepney are on two different tracks well in the very next scene they're on the same track on the bridge. the Moon is moving in the background as well.

I know it's seen as a goof but I had always assumed that the main reason they kept switching the Diesels around was to make it seem like there were more than just 5 or 6 Diesels on the Other Railway just to make it look busier 🤔 Although I never understood why it was a loud booming voice 🤨 It almost made it seem like they were all talking at the same time

Can you please do the US version of Thomas and Friends Thomas and Stepney because there is a goof in the US version because if you slow down the video when this person is answering the telephone you can hear somebody in the background if you slow down the video and I can't understand what they're saying and fun fact it's only found in the US version it's never found in the UK version unless if it's in early narrations.

Okay, unpopular opinion: Rusty to the rescue was the third worst Narrow Gauge episode, Skarloey the Brave being the first and Push Me, Pull You being the second. Yeah, I said it. Now I know how insane I may sound, but before any of you Thomas friends can lash out at me, my review has already established why I hate the original episode. Rusty to the rescue, along with Henry’s forest, was the two eposides Awdry most hated the most. God knows Wilbert Awdry wouldn’t approve of All Engines Go. Now I love Henry’s forest. It’s one of the best eposides ever written. But at the same time, I didn’t like seeing Henry upset. Well, did you? Hell, I don’t even think I’d want to an engine like Alfred or Crovan or Geoffrey as upset as Henry was in Henry’s forest, and that’s saying something. But even that doesn’t ruin the eposide, neither does the rule breaking. Well, I gotta agree with Awdry about Rusty to the Rescue screwing up the original value Bluebells of England had. I mean sure, Skarloey the Brave and Push Me, Pull You were even worse because of Skarloey and Rheneas’ flanderization, but at least I don’t think that they were flanderized too far. Stepney’s backstory, on the other hand, was butchered one step too far, and that’s the overall problem with the original eposide. In my rewrite of the story, I decided to replace Stepney with Ivor The Engine. So that idea came from Lol 4 Machines. I know it’s still be illogical for Rusty to go that far, but at least this doesn’t butcher Stepney's true backstory!
