What we’ve found recently is that although we have increased our daily spend budget by 30% we are getting the same or sometimes less clicks and the same of sometimes less conversions. How can we be spending more but getting less return?

That is the question. Could be down to your impression share before and after the increase. If it was already quite high before the increase, then you'll need to spend a lot on clicks to get more traffic

My CPC has doubled since Google changed their keyword format from exact, phrase, and broad match to AI-generated keywords. My CTR and quality score have halved as my ads are now being shown to the wrong audience. I have had Google representatives assisting me, but every time I hear the same story - we need to allow the algorithm to work while we test different strategies. I don't understand how the algorithm is supposed to work if it doesn't know what it's searching for. My business installs and repairs electric fencing, but Google no longer differentiates between "electric fencing" and "fences". It seems like the business is not going to survive this new google experimentation.

Tip number 1. Never speak to a Google rep. And use exact match if needed. I basically never use broad unless it's justified (basically only 1 in around 20 campaigns I audit could be benefit). Tip number 2. Use negative keywords when needed!

the QS are a joke, seems G is using those to boost their revenue. I have landing pages being flagged as non-relevant, and they are nothing but relevant to the ads and keywords. Same keywords at MS ads are 9s and 10s.

Thank you Darren! Great and insightful video. Interesting that you mentioned TikTok regarding Google search traffic. Recently TikTok launched their new search engine on the platform. I believe more traffic is turning to this channel today.

For us, only using bid strategies with a max bid setting is imperative. Otherwise , we see ridiculous bids without any positive results. Max conversions, and Pmax have been our most wasteful culprits.Yes, the average cpc has jumped.

I think it can definitely happen. If you ever set budgets too high or don't use portfolio bidding when required, Google will rip you off!

@@darrentaylordigital ok Darrin, I am researching this portfolio bidding, and it appears that a maximum bid could be set for Pmax if Pmax was included in the group of campaigns? Same with max conversions strategy?

Aside from the point about CRO. I am pushing people towards first-party collection and setting it up properly. Being about to target effectively will boil down to data collection and usage within Google Ads. Consent Mode is a big part of that, but there's so much more they've baked into the tools.

Hey man, great video as usual. I work a lot in the trades niche and with less people going to Google to make searches where can you see them going to look for service based services? The old Thompsons phone book ain't making a comeback is it? 😆😂Interested to get your POV.

Still search engines. No one using chatGPT or Gemini to get a service fulfil in the trade industry. Even if they did, their options are limited which when it comes to getting a service, is not something you want to happen. The options should be vast where the ones who secure customers are those whose Ad and landing page resonates with the market. The decrease in people using search is related to everything else apart from what I just mentioned. There are shopping Ads within these AI software as well. I’d expect AI search engine advertising to expand to search Ads. I wouldn’t worry so much and when search Ads do become available in these AI search engine software, assess the market demand within these softwares, and then see if it’s viable transitioning, staying to search engine or using both platforms for an omnipresence approach.

Its great actually. It means you really need your stuff from conversion tracking to campaign set up. Buyers who have bare minimum skill level will be found out quickly and left in the dust. No client wants their buyers to learn on their dime. You should come in very strong in terms of knowledge.
