It makes me wonder how much access does google really have to someones computer... Given that when you install it it allways adds a few startup services, it is just another reason for me to not use it at all.
It has almost no access to your computer. Like the above comment says, it's just a partnership between Bitdefender and google. BUT Google has access to android phones with google services, so that might be why this comment actually makes some sense. I do agree that chrome has some access to personal documents, but would have been exposed long ago if it actually did that.
A lot. I sadly don’t have proof but I’ve heard my Data/backup drive go absolutely nuts. Opened task manager, chrome had a shit ton of disk access. Killed it, immediate silence.
i ran this on a computer i was working on with the most obvious, old and known, malicious stuff running and installed and chrome was like "all good". seriously this computer was basically a virus museum and chromes check found no problems.

Well you can prevent that pretty easily by not using Chrome and changing the default search engine to something more privacy respecting. You might as well switch to another open source OS like Linux or BSD.

Hey man, so I think I have a serious virus whenever I click reset and clean up in the chrome settings it closes the tab and yes im being directted to yahoo and bing.

Yeah I know this bastard well, if you have a terminal server with multiple users, this crap tends to run under all user accounts at the same time, killing the machine. Hard to get rid of as well
Yes and no : there’s no need if you use Windows Defender or any other AV. Also, it got SmartScreen that does the perfect job when you browse and try to download something potentially harmful. Google must have made that feature for the purpose of getting what you run on your system and less for security reasons. All their security features are crap : Play Protect does a mediocre job everywhere it has been reviewed, and SmartScreen won when evaluated by TPSC.
It may be an useless feature on other OS’ as I don’t even know if an userspace launched software can populate running process’ and services by default.

Oh I know, one of the main reasons I ditched Google chrome entirely. Ate battery on my laptop and loved to scan my HDD array slowing it to a crawl. No thanks google, don't want you digging through my disks!
