Assuming he's being serious, heck yeah! That's kind of our thing here in Michigan, head North and you get much of the same wonderful geography as our neighbors in Canada. Dense forest and tons of lakes, mountain ranges in the UP as well. I like to think they take nature vacations as a company, for all their faults, Canada is a beautiful country. Lol

If you want my honest opinion, I wouldn't trust a single word from any large company, especially Silicon Valley companies

Sad that I can't escape seeing the same ad many times in a row, whether I swipe straight away or dislike then swipe. "OMG how many AI gf/bfs do you have?" with the lamest and most dogsh*t acting known to man. Not to mention the metric ton worth of literal scam ads that run freely without consequence using either AI voice-over or terrible actors.

you don't understand how training these algorithms work if you see something you don't like close the app/website/whatever immediately and don't come back for the day if you instead stay on the platform and watch something else, they see it as retention, e.g this content made you stay, we should show you more of it don't interact in any way, just leave Pro-Tipp: use the subscriptions-tab and not the normal startpage (available on pc and phone)

The RU-vid app is probably what I use my TV for the most. I just enjoy watching long form RU-vid videos while doing stuff around the house or while eating/relaxing, and my computer is in a separate room in the office...

RU-vid TV does have recommended shorts though, right? I've seen them in their own row on the homepage (at least when I last used it, which was quite a bit ago.)

I just want something that makes movies watchable to someone in a house who wants it to be as quiet as possibly while still hearing things (and not needing headphones). Every movie for the past 40 years loves it's audio mixing to have explosions and gunfire be the loudest possible sounds, while lowering the voices and everything else to compensate. Can't count the amount of movies I watched with a remote near hand to lower volume during action scenes and raise it right after as people talk. I have seen tech take stabs at this, but nothing ever works flawlessly.

The presence of bad content is not the absence of good content. RU-vid is easily the best source of nonfiction videos out there.

There was a period of time between about 2016 and 2017-2018 where RU-vid was actually pretty damn good about recommending genuine experts on subjects if you were searching for a particular kind of information, for example, if you were looking for a carpentry tutorials, you would get genuine carpenters and not random people who don't know a damn thing about how to operate a table saw, or if you were looking for a welding stuff you would get genuine welders and not the RU-vid channel handy welder

From 2016 to somewhere between 2017 and 2018 for most subject matters, RU-vid was pretty damn good about getting people who actually know what they're talking about. For example, if you were looking for carpentry tutorials, you would get actual how-to videos done by people who've done it many times and know the most efficient way to do it, nowadays you're lucky if you get someone who's done it even once before, or you get things like The RU-vid channel handy welder which is someone who doesn't know a damn thing about actual welding and there are many other examples I could bring up of channels that RU-vid will generally recommend for a particular subject, but it's people who, at the very best could help a novice go from knowing nothing to knowing enough to stumble their way through, but where a genuine expert would laugh at them for the advice they are trying to give

@@the_undead One learns to read the thumbnails, titles, and channel names. Junk has a distinct style that I avoid. Exceptions exist. e.g. "The LockPickingLawyer" and "DeviantOlam" are experts in their RU-vid fields. (Locks are not safe anywhere near LPL, especially MasterLocks. And if Deviant Olam wants into a building it is amazingly difficult to keep him out. He teaches companies how to keep him out for a living.) The rule LPL breaks is "shows the channel owner's name." "Sabine Hassenfelder" and Wes Roth are a examples. This is a high scoring rule. Extreme title hype is another high scoring rule. Over time it becomes fairly easy to hit F5 on the RU-vid home page and scan down the page for keys like Thomas Sowell and negative keys such as "Why I will NEVER use the Metric System." The scan is even quicker if you query for "Welding Videos". Yeah, I may miss some gold and get stuck with some poop. But, it's not not as bad as my email in basket has been in the past. (Let's hear it for SpamAssassin on your own incoming email server.) And the over all golden rule is, "one man's spam is another man's ham." Develop your own mental filters and learn to scan quickly.
