Google sent me a nest mini for free, just for being a RU-vid Music Premium member. 😊 Edit: I switched back to Spotify now 💀 Much better in my opinion, less buggy and just works fluidity with all devices I have in my house.

I like my mini, i only have one mini and one full sized. My mini is next to the bed and the full size goes where i need it. I don,t think i will replace it just yet. I am wishing for a nest hub max for Christmas. But we will see. Thanks Josh for the review. I have sent that on to a friend that was talking about.

I just got the Google Nest Mini 4 days ago, and now I talk to my Google Assistant more often. At first, I wanted the Google Home Mini, but the Nest Mini is what caught my eye the most. I'm totally into the Google ecosystem, so that's why I chose the Google Nest Mini, which I bought in the color of my choice, Chalk. On top of that, I like the Google Assistant's female voice better than the male voice, though the male voice does sound really cool.

Thanks for the review. I have noticed that every review on the Nest Mini is forgetting to mention or show the new intercom / call feature with duo. This is a huge reason why I use Alexa mainly in my home as my family has adapted to the drop in "intercom" feature... and google minis have lacked this feature (broadcast is not the same). I was very excited to learn that an "Intercom" feature was coming to the new nest mini. There is little information about this on the web even though it is a highly requested feature. I think 2 of the nest minis is required in order to use the "intercom". I would love to actually see how it works before deciding to by some of them or move my smart home towards Nest. Thank you.

I feel like someday we will control the Nest Mini like we did with our old iPod Click Wheels.

I really wish they had gone with USB-C to power these new minis. That would make finding custom length/color cords so much easier. What even is this cord called? Are there 3rd party replacements?

Do you have any experience with the Bose 300 and 500 speakers? They are compatible with google assistant (and Alexa), but I’m wondering if those have all the same features available. Would you be able to compare the Bose speakers to the large google speaker? Thanks for any help. I’m brand new to smart home stuff and I’m researching to figure out the best setup for my home.

Thanks for the review, I have my Mini in a Kiwi Battery Base, unfortunately, the new plug location and style is not compatible so I would have to wait for Kiwi to update their Battery Base too. I'm sticking with my original Mini.

I got mine yesterday for $20 new! I got it while on sale at lows.

I really have considered getting the google home mini for a while now and I really like the refreshed speaker and the added mic but if the google home mini's price relly drops it would be nice

if it would have an out port for non BT speakers, an outlet-mount in the box (so one can hide the wire too) then maybe, but the only thing i like in it is the top mute option. Processing time isn't an issue now, and for better audio one can just pair it with a better BT speaker. *If you already have a shelf stereo, active speakers for the home theater or studio monitors w BT then sound isn't going to be a reason to upgrade..not even to the Max*

Okay I’ve been trying to decide but I just can’t really decide. Should I get the echo dot 3rd gen or the nest mini? I don’t really care about how good the speakers sound compared to each other.

Here where I live I can purchase it at 20€ (the exact same I paid my current Google Home Mini, 2 or 3 Black Fridays ago). Do you think the upgrade is worth it? Bare in mind that I mostly talk with it in italian, where the the new assistant is actually not supported (at least from what I know).

I got like 6 Google home minis and 5 Google nest minis and I've got 13 smart lights. Working on getting more and more smart devices now that I got my control devices complete

What other Nest smart speakers (e.g. Nest hub max) have the same 3-mic array and latest local processing enhancements that the new Nest Mini has? For me it's really important that my devices hear me well even in noisy rooms. It really annoys me if I have to try two or three times to get one of my devices to recognise the wakeup phrase. If the new mic array and better on-board processing does deliver a noticeable improvement in recognition that alone will be enough for me to upgrade at least the one in my living room since that's the one that's often battling with TV or music in the background. Any speedup in response time for simple pause and resume commands executed via my Harmony Hub remote would be another compelling reason to upgrade my living room Home Mini.

Does anyone know if it's possible to make any of Google smart speaker to "Stop music after current track"? Meaning it's playing music right now, and I want it to finish up currently playing track/song, but don't start next song.

I've would prefer the first one since it has a usb connector and can connect it to my computer if need be and I find when you add extra bass to a small speaker it actually make the voice commands sound worse. Don't think too many people use these for music.

I was wondering what these things did. They've been advertising them a lot in my country.

I actually like the older Home mini for the micro usb. I have a few devices that still use micro usb that need charging here and there, having the old one always available to charge other devices is nice. This new one should have been USB-C. I'll try to sell the new one I got for free.

my living room home mini has been losing wifi for a couple months now at random, just ordered a nest mini to replace it

i prefer the 5v usb. It’s suck they didn’t take advantage of that to add wireless QI charging ability/portable version of google home mini. third party manufactures are taking advantage of this and selling it at a much higher price. while google home mini on sale for $25

Amazon Alexa is the best for home automation, it has the most skills. Also, Google can't add a device to more than 1 room or group; example: kitchen and family room are adjacent to each other and I want the lights in both room to turn off if I say all, as well as independently turning off either room. Alexa is inexpensive so I bought 8 to equip every room with Amazon Alexa for voice control so that I can just ask 'turn off the lights' and the echo in that room knows to turn off those lights and not other lights in the house. Google app's fonts are really really really tiny for my old eyes. All 8 of my Amazon Echo devices have a clock... very convenient to tell the time or see a timer's countdown. or better sound, I have a few of my Amazon Echo dot 3 with clock output the sound via its 3.5mm headphone jack to my Denon HEOS speakers.

After all that processing power, you would think that you can change the boring "Hey Google" for something more personal, like "Helen" or "Paul" but no, it's not in store apparently. I way prefer "Alexa do something...".

I got it my Granddaughter brought it for me for my birthday it was December 30th and I really like It came in a twin pack I sit the first one up but can't seem to set up the second one I keep telling me to download the app again and I already download the app and it keeps showing the first one that's it up I want to set up the second one so I can put it in my living room can anyone tell me how to do that overall I love to Nest Mini💯👍❤

Based on this review, all i saw was a few cosmetic changes which don't justify replacing the Google home mini at all. and a RU-vid video doesn't do the audio comparison any justice. All i noticed there is that the treble was turned down/removed on the nest mini, and that the bass is exactly the same either way. On top of this, we can just pair up with a bluetooth speaker anyway, so who cares? This is my take on the comparison. And that 3rd mic..... my google home mini works just fine with just 2 mics, and it's not like I'm going to be shouting ok google from inside the bathroom while my mini is in the bedroom anyway. So again, who cares? The only real changes I saw were the addition of a wall mount (which would be nice if you want it on the wall.... hmmmmm I'll think about that), and the change from a micro usb cable to a standard power cable. And then of course the additional LEDs to indicate where to tap on the speaker.... this is a cosmetic change imo but it would be helpful. other than these, who cares? it's essentially just another Google home mini to me. What WOULD justify it, would be 2 speakers for stereo sound, complete with an upgraded EQ (MAYBE 10 BANDS), with better sound quality, and 3x louder (yes i mean 3 as in three). Maybe integrate the Google home mini into an actual bluetooth speaker.... that would be (dare I say....) bad ass.

Is it worth it? And does it record conversations. I want my privacy and I’m contemplating if I should get it

We have 4 Home Minis & 1 Home Hub - which we wouldn't give up for the world. . . but I wouldn't mind shifting things around (still have one room without an G-Assistant) if I got a Nest Max for Christmas. As always, thank you for a very clear and concise review from an awfully handsome reviewer!
