Literally saw no performance difference that would make me spend another $300 to upgrade. Even the fingerprint sensor and wireless charging still hasnt been fixed
Good to see Google delivered on the promised faster night mode exposure. Same main GN1 sensor, so no surprise there, but upgraded all others look welcome especially the ultra wide. Appreciate the hard work, Danny!
I’m honestly very close to considering the Pixel for my next phone. The pictures look so good and way better than most android phones during the day and night. I’m on an iPhone 13 Pro and the pictures are great but I do miss some features on android.

Having had both phones, I do like this years slightly extra zoom, sensor cropping tech and even the Unblur feature, for me I can see reasons for upgrading!
I find 4x on my 6pro is sometimes too zoomed in for my subject so I think having to go out to 5x for the switch to telephoto would reduce the number of zoom shots I can take (also prefer a sharper image, in fact I thought the 6pro was too soft compared to my old P3). Thanks for the comparison!
I've been using the 7 Pro for a few hours now; same impressions when it comes to photos. In fact, I prefer the 4x zoom camera on my 6 Pro. Anyway, if you can pick up a Pixel 6 Pro for $500, I wouldn't think twice! Nothing special on the 7 Pro. The faster Night Mode and more natural Portrait Mode are the biggest upgrades here but even they aren't worth it if you're coming from a 6 Pro. From anything older - sure!
The x4 is a much sweeter spot for photography and portraits shots, I agree. Also a lot of people don't know this but the x5 on the Pixel 7 pro has a smaller sensor than the x4 on the 6 pro. That's why they're so similar and basically feels like a sidegrade than an upgrade. It's just marketing at this point. Hardware-wise these phones are very similar...
@@alphamalluz7422 Other than range, the Sony sensor in the 6 Pro is far superior vs the Samsung sensor in the 7 Pro. It's sharper, captures more detail, and has better natural bokeh. The 4x telephoto on the 6 Pro takes the best portrait shots on any phone to date IMO (many professional photographers agree). These shots always come out better than the actual "portrait" mode from the main sensor, and you can add more blur in post if necessary. It's my understanding Google switched to all Samsung sensors in the 7 Pro to maintain a similar color profile when switching between lenses. The telephoto shots on the 6 Pro often look more warm in comparison to the standard wide Samsung sensor. Of course this isn't an issue when you shoot in RAW.

New macro, farther zoom, better video, 10 bit HDR vid, 2x faster night time shots, better portrait mode, better dynamic range, faster performance. Camera has many upgrades vs the pixel 6 pro. Great video!
Where did you find all these pluses? I see it's in 10% better in portrait mode, but in 10% worsted on Telephoto mode, which I use more often than portrait. So what the reason to upgrade? No reason at all.

Sticking to my 6P for yet another year and to be honest I might considering getting the normal version next year as the "Pro" is at least for me not enough to pay that much more. Also and I cannot state this more than enough, it is PATHETIC that Google does not give us a "PRO" Camera App where we can tune some much needed adjustments like shutter speed or even a 50 hz mode for us living in Europe. It is a real pain in the a** to shoot when LEDs are flickering ALL THE TIME!!!
Photos from the 6 Pro look better in most comparisons other than portrait mode, and when shooting portraits, you should really be using the telephoto lens. The 4x Sony IMX598 sensor in the 6 Pro is far superior to the Samsung ISOCELL GM1 in the 7 Pro. This is a big step backward which has been compared before in other phones. I would much rather have a better quality sensor vs the extra 1x magnification. The only win the 7 Pro has is the shorter exposure in night mode. I'm really struggling with the idea of keeping the 7 Pro. We shouldn't have to give up the better image quality from the 6 Pro to get slightly better battery, shorter night mode exposure, and face unlock capability (which should technically work on the 6 Pro anyways)...
I'm in the same boat. I really want to keep the P7P for all the benefits it does have, but that downgrade in telephoto is really bugging me as I compare the two 😞
Thank you, Danny! I feel after phone cameras starting with Pixel 3 and later iPhone 11 generations the images are quite similar with the current crop of Pixel 7 and iPhone 14. The improvement of wide angle / telephoto adds creative options as well as improved video recording modes but for photo not much has changed. I am sure that features like "macro" closeup mode that just made it to Pixel 7 Pro will be welcomed by some, but I prefer the compressed look of longer telephotos with close focusing. Pixel 7 series is a almost indistinguishable refinement in its truest form from Pixel 6-es. No giant leap in anything, but baby steps forward (and some sideways). I would say if you got an itch for some new gear - go for it, just keep your expectations at bay if you already have a phone from past 3 years.
Good thing Pixel 7 Pro is the same price as P6P and with discounts, into the mid-range territory. The camera improvement is less than I expected and the UWA and 5X seem like a regression.

The night sight is way slower in pixel 6 all series they feel ancient in front of newer iphone and Samsung's huge sensors. But now I'm happy they fixed it
It will be a time (and soon) where you wont find diff between shots, at least at normal eyes. The next phones diff are aimed to the zoom, they are working on taking the zoom to another level where you can get awesome shots at max zoom, thats the next goal.
I’m wondering if battery life alone makes it worth upgrading. I have my Pixel 6 Pro and the new iPhone 14 Pro Max. Even though I think the battery on the iPhone isn’t as good as the 13, it still demolishes the Pixel. I don’t think the cameras alone are worth the upgrade.
I think we must wait probably 3-4weeks .After 1-2 updates it will be much better than now.Can you remember.1years ago pixel 6 pro was how much laggy and buggy.Fortunately after lot of updates it can easily compete with 14 pro and s22Ultra.So guys, to verdict its very early

I'm a little disappointed with the 2x zoom, seeing what apple did (even with the basic 14 model, that is even more impresive) I expected a lot more. But the improvement is so mininal that is even non existent. The 10x seems very similar too.
Hi Danny, please I am still waiting for a full comparison between the Samsung S22 ultra and iPhone 14 pro camera, not just a comparison between video test.
I also feel like the images are a little softer this year and I wish they were sharper but maybe Google was listening to 6pro reviews. Some last year complained that the 6pro blew out the shadows too much and were too aggressive on the HDR. I prefer a sharp image on my phone camera. I want to see everything!! 😂 I'll use a DSLR for true to life photos.
Your preferences are valid, but for those of us who don't have a DSLR I really appreciate that the P7P appears to be creating more true to life photos than the overprocessed P6P!
You don't need macro when you pull away and zoom. A quality macro lens would be nice and google didn't deliver, so there won't be any noticeable difference in taking macro pics.
Was this before or after the camera update? I wish Google would push all of their updates prior to review and all the hard work you've put into it. Thanks again for a great vid.
@@fluxXxor They usually don't backport their improvements in the imaging algos to previous phones, and that's a shame. So when you upgrade every year you basically buy an new algo.
Honestly I felt like the pixel 6 cameras needed less computational assistance if they have even more contrast and sharpness being added in the 7 series I feel like they're going the wrong direction....
Danny thanks for the review. I love my pixel 6 pro but I am very tired of it crashing almost every time I open the camera or when I take a picture. So my question is does the pixel 7 pro have the same problem?
To everybody. They are lying to you all. You are being misled, macro photography isn't done with a wide angle lens by getting really close to stuff and focusing really closely. It is done with tele lenses and then you get reasonably close to stuff, these phone companies are misleading us. A real macro cam would be a 10 x (or 200 plus mm) telephoto camera that can focus up to say 30 cm close. That would be an amazing macro cam, not this crap that we get.
I'm torn. I got my 7 pro delivered today, unopened in its box. I'm hoping the speech to text and the rest of the AI stuff helps to justify the difference between this and the 6 Pro that I currently have. Camera wise, I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the two for the most part.
The night time experience alone is worth it IMO but I totally get it. Remember the 6 Pro is a different camera today than it was at launch so time will make the 7 Pro camera better.
Brilliant Camera Comparison Pixel7Pro definitely need an improvement over Video in Cinematic mode HDR video also need to improve and should able to shoot at 4K photos as always are absolutely stunning ❤️
