As much as I like the idea of the Pro and its tech, if I am honest with myself, the 7a will do everything I need a phone to do. I'm switching from a 5, and I think keeping £400 in my pocket and getting the 7a is the best option.
Yep, as long as you can get a 7 for about the same price as the 7a, it is the better one regardless. If the 7a drops from 500 euros to 400 euros (a similar drop happened to the 6a), it will be the better buy for most people. I'd say that untill sept-oct, the 7 remains the best value.
Thanks for doing this. We have Pixel 6 phones and are looking to upgrade. After seeing the specs of the Pixel Fold, me and my wife decided to just go ahead with Pixel 7 Pro's.
Thinking about doing the same but I don't really NEED a new phone... my 4a is holding up great. Do you think it's worth it as a want instead of a need?
@@tijamir4998 I advise u to go to a shop and look to the 2 of them. Sometimes, you like one more than the other. Also, offers can affect your choice. I chose 7a tbh. It was on sale. I am satisfied
go look at the camera comparisons. The 7a has a larger sony sensor with more megapixels. Every comparison ive watched preferes the 7a. So it does make sense if you care about the camera. This guy is the only guy out of like 10 videos ive watched that chose the 7 over the 7a
Thanks for the review! Was actually deciding between getting the 7a or the 7, and I think this solidifies that, for the price difference (which will probably be even smaller since the 7 is often discounted), I will just go with the 7.
I sent my pixel 7 back a few days ago. I discovered that the battery life/drain is extremely bad. Low/medium use would easily kill the battery by early evening. Secondly, the finger print ready isn't the best. Otherwise, great phone. Just not for me.
@@airrunner85 thanks for your input, that really is a concern I have. Most reviews I see talk about 5-6h screen on time, and I saw a battery drain that lasted for 10+ hours. Does this not correspond to your experience?
@@diogomarques7479 Definitely not my experience. I class myself as a low user. It would barely make it to 20% by 7pm. I've decided to go for the Samsung ultra s22. In my opinion it's a much more balanced package of a phone. The pixel has a great camera and the clean android is certainly an appeal. But for me, the compromise with the battery is just so bad. I knew I couldn't keep the device. The thing to remember is that batteries perform worse overtime. If it's this poor brand new. It's going to be very poor in a year's time. Good luck 👍
I would love the 7a to have a larger storage version. The size of that (And 6a) is perfect for me. I'm hoping the base Pixel 8 finally ups the storage to 512 GB or for either it or Pro model to have 1 TB.
Please in the future include front video comparisons for both the visual and microphones, and back camera video/microphone comparisons too. That's literally all I want from phone reviews. Thanks so much. I hope you're having a fun day.
I just got the Pixel 7a for £23 a month (nothing upfront) and honestly can't believe my luck. Great display, amazing camera, good performance, nice size and the best UI around for at least half the price of some flagships!
@@matheor6884 I've had my 7a for about a week now and I can easily go a full 10 hour day without running empty. Lots of photography, music streaming while at work/driving via Bluetooth plus e-mails, couple calls and a dozen chat/sms messages etc. Normal day stuff. I unplugged my charger at 07:20 this morning, it's now 23:59 and my battery is currently at 33%. Screen at 90hz, automatic brightness, no battery saver modes on.
@@gundalfthelost1624 Thanks for the information, many comments regarding the bad battery but this sounds good. And does it get very warm sometimes or you havent had that issue?
I bought the Pixel 6a in August because it was so cheap on Amazon. I'd gotten the Pixel Watch the day it released. My intention was to purchase the watch, then the 6a and, then upgrade to the 7a and honestly now that the 7a is released I'm perfectly fine with my 6a. The buds are compelling but I think I'm gonna hold.
I got a pixel 7 in November absolutely loved it. my mum needed a new phone and I was going to buy her a mid to cheap samsung but decided to give her my 7 and upgrade to the 7 pro for myself. yea bit costly but I'm all about the extra hardware features. and she loves it too as its extremely helpful for her (not being tech savy at all lol)
Current 4a user... worth the upgrade? I don't really need a new phone and could probably wait another year, but I am a sucker for upgraded cameras. ;) Advice?
If you could get 7A or 7 pro for the same price which would you buy? Upgraing from realme 6 and have been incredibly happy with it so unsure of which to buy.
If I were you I currently have the pixel 4A The 7a would be the best bet but I would wait because they always always go on sale just look at the month right now we're in May so just give it I don't know keep an eye on it on Best buy and Amazon and they go on sale for like 50 bucks to $100 and then for the the pixel 6A I mean that was 450 to start and then on Amazon it dropped all the way to 299 brand new so that's incredible so just just wait for a deal Don't buy it new new okay especially if you if you have a pixel for a it's still good mine is still freaking awesome but personally I wanted a slight upgrade so I just ordered the Pixel 5 and was only 167 it's refurbished but I don't need something crazy right now it's my backup phone anyway let me know if you have any other questions
@@cobaltblue5523 they're doing the free Pixel Buds A Series with the 7a right now on Google Store and Amazon which I was planning on getting anyway as my "Pixel Buds 2" are starting to die (always had connection issues anyway which apparently have been fixed with A's and Pro's). For 6A I can probs find refurb for like 250 so either way with buds works out at £100 difference
@@adamr94 oh ok well if you get the buds That's a pretty good deal already that's $100 value right or 150 I don't know so $4.99 $100 pixel buzz Is it $100 so that's technically $399 so I would go for it
Do you recommend the Pixel 7, Pixel 6 Pro, or Galaxy S22 Plus? I am basing my decision on battery life, gaming performance for moderate to long periods, and camera quality. I use a Galaxy S9, and I was looking to upgrade to a phone under $649. I did want to improve the camera quality to something comparable to an iPhone. Has the camera quality upgraded significantly for Galaxy phones, or is the Pixel still better between the two?
Go watch someone else if you don't like his style. You people are annoying. Asking a dude with almost a million subs to change shit because your entitled @ss doesn't like it. When it's not some idiot complaining about the accent or the jokes, it's a m0r0n complaining about the phone wallpaper Plenty of tech/phones reviewers to go around on RU-vid. Find someone who is more your speed
Thanks for a very entertaining and informative video! That was a big help. I'm a jewellery designer and prefer a smaller phone but I assume the bigger pixel pro is a better option for the close up shots of jewellery?
Is it really worth upgrading from the Pixel 5 (regular) or should I stick around and wait for the next generation? Battery life on my Pixel 5 is really beginning to be an issue.
Just bought the 7 Pro, changed up from Samsung Note 20. Glad I changed, very nice phone, not a heavy phone user and battery last 2 and a half days - bloody amazing! No way I was going to take out a mortgage to buy the S23 Ultra, gone like Apple - slap a stupid price tag on it and dummies will still pay up.
Let me put it this way... S23u can run genshin and star rail, at the same time, in the same screen, with a browser open in the same screen, and music playing from your dedicated music app... And it doesn't stutter. Try that with the 7 Pro and let me know how that goes for you. The price tag comes with actual power... not gimmicks and cute software perks... The s23u is an power-user device for a reason...
I personally don't see the need for people to have more than 128 GB storage unless you're playing multiple mobile open-world games. For the most part, people store a ton of photos/music - music doesn't take a lot of storage even for a library spanning years not to mention streaming only what you need, and photos shouldn't only be stored on your phone but cloud storage as well like google photos/self-hosted nextcloud etc. If you NEED a large amount of storage, then you're just storing all your photos locally on your phone, which means that you don't necessarily care for data loss (if you were you'd follow 3,2,1 data redundancy rule), which means you don't value your data/photos - making the single-point of failure large storage size pointless.
Around when these phones came out, my pixel 4a said it would trade-in for like 300 dollars, but now it says 47 dollars, why? Also, is the pixel pro 100 dollars off worth it?
Lovely review. Got my Pixel 7 pro in January, got issues touch sensitivity on the upper left corner of screen, very occasional but annoying I could not select the back arrow on any app. Have to close the app and try it again. Is this a bug? I was using gesture swipe navigation until I noticed I could not access the back button after a month well I could not return it back
Your pixel 5 review helped me decide to switch over from iPhone a couple of years ago & now this one has helped me decide between which of the Pixel 7's I should upgrade to, cheers!
The Pixel 7 Pro looks like just bring too big to comfortably fit in my pocket, so it'll likely be the Pixel 7 when the security support runs out on my Pixel 5 later this year. All that puts me off the Pixel 7A is the low light camera performance, but I'd love to have the telephoto lens on the 7 Pro. The only nice to have for me would be a dual SIM tray, as getting an e-SIM in some countries is just impossible
i came from the pixel 5 to the pixel 7. The pixel 7 seems big compared to the 5. i think the pixel 5 was the best size. I cannot imagine using the pixel 7 pro, it seems way to big.
I think the Nothing Phone 2 might be a better bet for a similar price point to the 7a or alternatively the OP Nord 3. Both are due out in the next couple of months..🤔🤔
Hi Mr tech spurt, I absolutely love my google 7, especially the call screening p and battery life is great. I just like the 7 very much, oh even got a pair of ear buds thrown in for free, thanks for the suggestion. Mr spurt..
I bought 7 pro couple days ago and i faced overheating issues. I haven't use it as my all day phone yet. I am wondering if i had to turn the phone back and chose another brand ...
Not much, actually its same bcuz 7pro has 1440p resolution with 120 hz so 5000mah used there and pixel 7 has 1080p with 90hz and 4350mah battery does the same work
Are there any phones with top specs but cheap camera? I don't take photos and I don't know anyone who cares about the camera on a phone but still wants a speedy phone
For some reason to me phones with that slightly bigger bezel look more pleasing to the eye, and i hate the curved glass on the screens of the pro models? Like honestly the 7a looks better than the more expensive phones to me
The fact that there is no dual physical SIM is something that didn't make me get a pixel. S23 Ultra has options for all (2x physical /1 physical and 1 eSIM) makes it so much more flexible and I'm able to access the cheapest SIM deals
Very tempting to buy a Pixel except there's no SD memory card or 3.5mm headphone jack. I hate those bluetooth ear buds and having to recharge them all the time plus I think the 3.5mm cord gives a better sound. My Redmi Note 11 Pro charges at 67 watts so Google need to pull the finger out there and fix things in the Pixel 8 Pro.
I have the pixel 3a and my big complaint was that I cannot watch photos or videos on a sunny day even if i boost the brightness to maximum. I'm wondering if the pixel 7 and 7a has improved in that matter and if there is a difference between the 7 and 7a in that matter.
@@katinasutherlandwhited5578 oh so the pixel 6 is bright enough under the sun!? Any idea on the difference with the "a" series? I have no doubt on the pro.
@@WuFei0707 the A is definitely not as bright, the 7 and 7 pro are like 1000+ nits though, ive compared my 4a to a 6a and the 6a is slightly brigher, so I assume the 7a is also brighter than the 6a. This is just my experience input, you can google for official specs but I dont think google themselves list the brightness of the 7a
Gorilla glass 3 I got gorilla glass 5 on my redmi note 10 Pro front and back come on Google and Chris over in the emerald isle it's 540 euros which sounds a lot but if you convert euros to gbp it's 469. 61 not bad I'm still going to wait for the one plus nord 3
The 7a kind of deserves to be priced that high although it is kind of out of my reach it is also better than I expected. Honestly apert from the plastic can it even be rated as a mid ranger?
I had the 6 for a while but it developed an issue where no one could hear me talking on a call unless I used the speaker option. Kind of put me off a bit and went to the big S instead. Do like the pixels though 👍
