Google pixel 8a is a fantastic phone. I highly recommend it. You can't go wrong with this choice. Gameplay is phenomenal, camera is spectacular, AI features is super cool, and all the extra stuff built in the phone is ground breaking next level. Thank you Google for making this supreme device. Yeah. Ran into an issue. I exported the video on the new iPad I’m testing out and then it uploaded the original video that didn’t have the audio adjusted and I didn’t know until after it published. Thanks for letting me know though
Well done for coming back and discussing the comments from the first video. I said I disagreed with you that it's a 'budget' phone , it's not marketers as such imo but the price yeah up for debate but Google gave me £235 for a Pixel 5 as trade in, so the Pixel 8a was only £264 to change, which is brilliant (UK) I think you are right it's a 449 phone but they'd only reduce the trade in process anyway to achieve that As for the bezels , many like me that work on a phone a lot constantly touching the screen on a thin bezeled phone, I've owned every Pixel, and couldn't wait to sell the 8, wanted the wider bezels on the 8. As you say though the 8a is all about the software . Oh and the plastic Matt back , it's superb You also hear a lot that many people don't keep phones a long time, my wife, mother and sister do, they like them they keep for years, in the last 12 months they finally stopped using a Pixel 2, an iPhone 6 and a Pixel 5 respectively . The long updates are a brilliant thing for them
I’ve been a fan of yours for a few years… generally enjoy the content you put out… but lately the content seems to steer directly towards a negative stance on 2024 phones. I get that there are gripes with the price, but we all know the price will come down for those that wait and/or don’t get the phone through a carrier. It’s good to call these things out, but fixating on it ad nauseam has turned me off to a lot of your most recent content. It feels like the new “Oddessy” is to find and fixate only on the negative… hopefully I’m wrong because I’ve enjoyed your channel for a few years.
Thanks for the feedback and taking the time to write this comment. I also appreciate your long term support. I think the negative fixation you’re hearing is very limited to the Pixel 8a in general, not all of the content. I have been critical of the way that Google has marketed this phone and the pricing and tried to make sure people are aware, and to help them make an informed decision, and to save money. I am not tone deaf to my own tone in certain matters and that’s why I made this video today because I’ve been thinking about it and I don’t want to do a disservice to my audience and steer them away from a potentially good deal on this phone or make people think the phone itself is bad, and wanted to separate my issue with Google, versus the phone because the phone itself isn’t bad, and why I made what I though was a fair presentation on the phone on this video. I have had much praise for many phones this year, such as the Samsung phones, the OnePlus phones, and even the new Sony phone despite its shortcomings and lack of availability, which I also told people to temper their wallets toward and not to spend unnecessary money on it. Also, just so you know I have a lot of new products I’ve been accumulating the past couple weeks that I’m currently working on many videos for that hopefully you will enjoy as we move further away from the recency of the pixel 8a, and I’m quite hopeful for the upcoming pixel phones and android updates as we head forwards this fall. Thanks for this video!! The Pixel A series phones have always been my favorite since the Pixel 3a came out in 2019!! I would love to hear your opinion on what Samsung needs to do with it FE series phones to compete with the Pixel A series!! To be honest I am on the fence with getting a Pixel A series phone or waiting until the end of the year to see what Samsung has in store with its S24 fe phones!! In either case, it is a win-win situation for the consumer. As always keep up the great work, I always enjoy watching your informative videos
As per usual great content and for the very nsightful review. Whilst I agree that there is no logic to Google's pricing policy regarding the A series with the main Pixel line I can put into context to where I come from as to why I would buy the Pixel 8A over the Pixel 8. For starters, there is a difference of €150 between the Pixel 8A and Pixel 8. Secondly, unlike the USA, we do not benefit from trade-ins and promotions by trading in say a Pixel 7A and getting a good discount when buying a Pixel 8A. Also, the price takes ages to drop here so the Pixel 8A would be a good candidate for value for money. I will be buying mine this week as I love the form factor and not to bothered at all by the bezel, plastic back and Gorilla Glass plus not to mention the value proposition of having updates for the next 7 years. I am a long time Pixel user and I have seen a bit of a trend with the A series line. I see a major jump in friends, co-workers.....asking me if they should buy a Pixel after the A series release as much if not more so then initial release of the regular models. I don't think it's a stretch that Google's objective with the A series is for carrier deals,upgrades and to actually push sales for the regular pixel by having a similar price point. The A series is a drop in the bucket for Google and with the A series there is no gap in the market for sales. Price point or not how is that not a good idea for Google trying to get to iPhone/Samsung status.....thoughts?
Absolutely dirt cheap here in the UK for some reason got the 256GB model for £350. 128GB models csn be had for £300 despite rrp being from £500-£560 depending on storage.
Google was testing the prices of the 8a as a trial by testing the waters selling the 8 at those prifes as a test run. They were going to originally sell the 8a at $549 to reflect the improvements over the 7a. Plus you get $100 store credit with the 8a so you can buy pixel buds a - series free with the thing. If you buy a pixel 8 for $499 you still don't have any headphones, and the damn thing doesn't have a headphone jack so you need to go buy your own usbc dac for it. At launch, the 8a provided a way to get good wireless headphones included at no extra cost. I'd rather have an 8a with pixel buds for $500 than just an 8 with no headphones for $550.
Im looking to upgrade from my Samsung 21fe. The pixel 8a might be my next phone. But I'll wait til it is at least $100 cheaper. My only concern with the phone itself is the relatively slow charging. Even my 21fe has faster charging.
$200 on Google FI until 6/20. Fi uses the T-Mobil network. Only 1 catch you have to keep it activated on Fi for 120 days to get the deal. It's an unlocked phone.
I tried to compare this link for 8a price with Samsung sale s24ultra + trade in + buds 2 pro ( free )+ storage upgrade . I couldn't get trade in value estimates. So, as it stands now , it's $ 530 for 8a . $715 for s24u + buds + storage upgrade. Bottom line : $1650 value vs $530 value. Flash sale ended
Basically people who like pixels or want to try a pixel will get this phone or one of the others .. But just someone who'd like to try Android in general will go for what works for them 🤷🏽♂️ can't be mad at Google because others OEMS do the same thing
Google needs to work on their pricing. Their products are good because of their software & Google 'smarts' integration, but their SoC they use is very easily beaten by even older gen Snapdragon SoC's. Performance isn't everything, but it certainly helps future-proof devices. Once they have TSMC for manufacturing of their Tensor SoC, it'll be really interesting. Also, their budget 'a' series needs to be about $100-$150 cheaper.
About charging speeds.. Short circuit (Linus) mentioned that with a higher end cable, they got similar charging speeds as the pixel 8. But they glazed right over it and moved on without going much in depth. Have anyone seen / experienced anything like this?
Don't understand why they don't just cut all the reserch and developmnt costs and start at the baseline 8 as the start of the range and knock 100 off the price
3:41 i like they killes the vanilla model & lauck A series with the same lauch with 2 other pro models, they can sell more products that way, maybe merging vanilla & A with an one phone. I like the name pixel a instead of call normal pixel 8 or 9 like that. Just a idea as a fan.
7 years of updates on a 128 gig phone. Come on ……my 256 gig iPhone 15 Pro I bought in January is already close to half full. Absolutely zero way that phone would work for a lot of people with that outdated storage capacity. And the 256 gig is only available in black. Why Google? Seriously, why? Why can’t we get Aloe or Bay in 256? 🤦🏻♂️
Sir can u plz raise the issue for pixel 8 pro actually the volume of pixel 8 pro is basically low compared to any other flagship or normal phone like full volume is 25 taps and at 20 taps our ears gonna start listening this speaker sound...i mean that is crazy why this is too much low plz any fix or raise this issue .....
