After having prepared the quills, I will show differnt eye options and how to do the actual whipping.
3 quills and 3 different eye setups.
I have also added a balsa and cork body to 2 of them.
All this together forms 3 different styles of floats.
I hope you enjoy and can take something from this one.
G

How do you rig it with a line. This is what I want to know. Some use Dental rubber bands to hold the line to the bobber. I use another rubber band to secure a sugar cube sometimes two cubes to give the quill bobber weight to cast out. The sugar cube dissolves instantly.

Hi great blogs, very informative. Still waiting for follow up on pike bung. Have you ever used pampas grass for float making? I got some last week from my daughters garden well pleased with outcome made about 8 floats of various lengths and diameter. Put them in the microwave to dry out not a good idea some burnt and the smell was around all day. They paint quite well and take inserts they have a pith type centre which is very soft. Waiting for some porcupine quills to be delivered off ebay just got some macaw quills, that's the next project. Keep up the good work. John.

Great video. Can you tell me approximately how much weight will be needed for the float without balsa and cork (I guess 2-3 grams maybe).I started to make floats similar like this and I found my wife's nail polisher very usefull for the painting (she is going to kill me when finds out). The weather is bad here, so I can't go on the swim. 10x and great videos.

Hi Daniel. I buy corks from Portugal...different sizes, depending on what kind of float is being made. Graeme.

Hi Mike, no, it's a small rig ring, used by the Carp fellas.
