Hi folks,
I have had a couple of requests to show how I make a Perch Bobber.
A very popular patern and one that probably everyone watching has used at some point, I certainly used them when I was a laddie.
In this video, I will turn the body and cut and fit the stem.

Just been given green light for a 14x8 shed!! So excited lol. Float making is first project 👍. Any instructions on making the lathe?

were are you getting the round basal wood at. all I can find is the small bits of it . can you make a video on you lathe.

Hi Mike, yes, I did make my own lathe,,, being the stereotypical tight arsed Scotsmen, I decided I wasn't paying for something I could make myself! Hahahahahaha

That tool you use to find the centre of the balsa wood. D What glue did you use to glue it to one of the 45° angled edge piece please. I need to make one

@@TheGapinkerton ok thankyou for your reply. Im very new to this and trying to find things i can use to make floats. I like the reed idea but i think you said you have to wait a year for them to dry out. Is there something else i can use that i can find ie certain tree twigs. Or is there a way to dry the reeds out quicker? Cant seem to find the info online. As we are on lockdown id like to try and make some.

Hey Aaron,,,, cut the Reed down to manageable lengths, put them on a baking tray and pop them in the oven at 180° for 20mins or so. Careful,,, they will be hot!

Hi Harry, I made the tool myself (featured in another one of the wee videos). It's really just a section of thin walled brass tube, sharpened at the leading edge, then I turned a wee handle to make it easier to use. G
