Sony FDR X3000 is amazing!

As Mark041 and others have noted, a bitrate of 80 in HEVC is excellent and the equivalent of ~160.

Hello, great video comparison, i use GoPro 5 and I just returned my GoPro 7. I am an amature video-ograpgher, 🤪. I needed a camera with higher reliability, and easier to deal with In post. The file extension drove me to tears as my kick butt new cyber power desk top couldn’t play the dam Hcv file extension, and troublesome with the Corel Video program I was learning to use. I gave up on both the 7 and Corel. With my return credit I got the Sony FDR AX33 / AXP33, I See now this will not suit my needs and I should return it before it’s to late. It looks like the Stoney 3000 will be exactly what I need for my always in motion videos. I just need to see how the Sony 3000 does for panning. Thank you so much for this video! Subbed!

Makes one eager to know what sony have been doing for 2yrs. If they can keep 100mbs, get variable f-stop, have higher fps slowmo, maybe a larger rx0 sensor and improve the remote viewer. would set another standard.

Great review, I actually bought the Sony X3000 1 1/2 years ago because of your review. I make mountain biking videos and since I switched from the GoPro to the Sony my channel has grown so much. I have seen some recent comparisons between the GoPro 7 to the Sony X3000 and it was so obvious that the reviewers were biased. Thanks for your honest review.

Oh come on Iphonedo, Gopro hero 4 black is much much better than 7 black, why ? bcs you can use 4 in low light, also gopro - in 7 black - killed timelapse (in low light... bcs you can't switch stabilization off in time warp). aaaaand the last think.. try to use slow motion (I tried 120fps) in low light xD doesn't work (after slowed down). So.. gopro hero 7 black is DAY LIGHT camera, and those asshole should write it on the box ! I bought one, but after 2 days sent them back. SONY GOD !

A few comments. 1. My Hero7's touch screen sensitivity is noticeably better than that of my Hero5 or Hero6. 2. Even though I had verified "Wake on Voice" was turned off when I first powered up the camera, it still turned itself on while sitting on my desk when you said "GoPro Turn on". I had to go into the settings, turn it on (verified that it still claimed it was off), and then turn it off again to make sure it was really off. Folks might want to check this if they're seeing battery drain while the camera is supposed to be off. 3. Yes, it's still a Hero.. meaning, it randomly turns itself back on, a couple seconds after I tell it to turn off. It sometimes still locks up, usually right after I've finished a recording, requiring me to pull the battery to reset. 4. I find voice commands useful except for one serious annoyance. It doesn't care what single syllable word you put between "GoPro" and "Recording", and it just toggles between recording and not recording. So if you say "GoPro Start Recording" it starts recording and then say "GoPro Start Recording" again, it stops recording. This is annoying because sometimes when it's mounted on my helmet I don't always remember whether it's recording or not, and I'd like "start" to *always* start if it's not already, and do nothing if it is already. You can literally put any short word between "GoPro" and "Recording" though, and it just toggles back and forth. Also you can't use "GoPro Turn Off" if you happen to be in the playback mode.

Bets review ever lol I upgraded to the 7 from my 5. I like this much better. I find that upgrading every 2 years is worth it more than yearly, even with cell phones.

I make my own Lens Cap for my Sony FDR X3000 from a bottle cap, so I can avoid to buy that expensive one, and I can attach any filter such as ND filter, UV filter in front of the lens. Maybe I will share with you guys in near time.

Thanks for the shot out to FPV pilots using GoPros. Of course we all want to use the Session form factor and not this one, and GoPro decided to kill that off on us.

Great video, BUT, the stabilisation on the GoPro 7 is certainly not gimbal like. We have tested the 7 against the 4 with an evo gimbal, and the gimbal wins by a long stretch.

I suspect that the camera on the bicycle helmet, on the drone or on the skateboard is cooled by the wind? This could lead to longer filming without overheating. Otherwise a great video, as always. Lots of good information, beautifully presented and very entertaining. Definitely always worth a look.

I was really looking forward to upgrading to GoPro 7 from my Sony x3000 because I like GoPros size and shape much more. But the low light on it is kinda bad. I use my camera everywhere on my holidays. That's a bad point I really have to be comfortable to accept to have all the (fixed) good points of the camera. The battery/storage problem is annoying but I'll accept if it's the price to pay. I really like the stabilisation and voice commands on this, very impressive. And it seems like it turns on faster now. Before GoPro turns on/record in 5 seconds compared to Sony's 2 second turn on/record. In your review I can see voice command turn on then record was 4 seconds long. I wonder how fast it can turn on and record with the one touch button feature. Thanks for your amazing thorough review as always.

Superb review. I had a play with the GP7 today and it seemed pretty good I shook it like I was running and jumping around and it still played back fairly smooth. I probably need to get one now :-| ...time to sell the 6?

I subscribed due to the fact that among reviews I've watched on Gopro7 you are the only one that mention about the low light weakness while video stabilization is on. Kudos to you!!!

Can you use the Karma Grip with the built in stabilization enabled? The Hero 6 would disable built in stabilization when its connected to the Karma.

So the unit overheats and shuts down in 4K....The several years old Sony fdr-x3000 still shuts this thing down. Meanwhile, I'm still hoping for a new (already great) updated x3000 soon!
