Great review as usual, really liked going through all the changes 1 by 1. Changing the chip in the camera is a huge difference that justifies a new model on its own imo

Great video mate. Im very impressed with the Hero 6 after to me the disappointment that was the Hero 5.

I Have had every camera since they came out and been blown away with every new model but I have used the 6 once now and its unreal, a bit different in post though, the waveform is a bit weird, Come to Squamish next year and I will take on a killer ride!

Great video! Very well planned and executed. GoPro has made amazing progress since the early versions... I hope they invest upcoming upgrades in features that improve underwater photography.

Great video! Was really helpful, especially seeing some of your low light footage, so thanks for showing that. It would be cool if you were able to compare the same scene there with an earlier model as well next time in future videos to really see the improvements in the models. Also, one thing I really thought was important to point out here though both for you and the viewers is about the WiFi 2.4/5 Ghz that you talked about. It should be noted that 5 Ghz definitely does not mean double the download speeds as you mentioned :) Great video and I'll look forward to your future videos! :D Thanks!

Very Good Video about GoPro Hero6 Black Review

Dynamic range is the number one issue I have with Hero 5. I have so many clipping white spots in my mountain biking videos. Great to hear that it's been improved.

Great Review. I had an action camera of another brand. Pretty decent for the price. But nothing beats the Gopro 6 for battery life, decent night photos and videos. The ability to extract good still shots from the video via Quik is a super bonus. But the Quik software can sometimes be a sore. The ability to use screen to zoom and move around in menu is excellent too. Of course my APSC with its lens gives me more control. But the Gopro 6 is a discreet little machine that takes amazing videos and photos.

We film natural sight and sound walks in soulful cities, and have just switched to the GoPro HERO6 Black and have been happy with it on balance, some of you might find it helpful to view the footage and decide? thank you for taking the time to give your review, I'll take a look at the full in-depth review.

Thanks for a great review. Hero6 Black is my second action camera and I too am blown away by it. I went the cheap Chinese knock off route the first time and had to send it back.

This is a great review. The best I've seen so far. Thank you for taking the time. I'm debating upgrading from my dependable old 3+ Black. I've used it since its inception without any issues. I primarily use it on a motorized gimbal to record vacations and low-key outings (I'm not a scuba diver or skydiver or trick skier by any means) to post to Vimeo and RU-vid, and typically only shoot 2.7k 24-30fps in ProTune mode because my dinosaur of a computer lags trying to post 4k in Premiere Pro. Realistically I will never use the 4k 60fps because I don't need it for my purposes (even when I eventually invest in a new computer). The biggest draw to me about the 6 is the stabilization so I can leave the clunky gimbal at home. I'm also intrigued by the new video and photo formats and overall image capture. And, I love not having to carry a separate viewfinder and all those housings. But ... I'm reading a TON of negative reviews about freeze ups and people getting home and downloading black video after their vacations. I write off some due to user error, but there are too many of these complaints to ignore. Do you have an opinion on that? Would a 'recreational' videographer such as myself be crazy to shell out five hundred bucks for the 6?

@DC Rainmaker - very helpful and informative video, thanks for digging into some of the gory details. I'm most interested in this because of the 240 fps at 1080p for the slow-motion capabilities. But reading the comments below, I'm concerned that those files might not be compatible with my computer. Can those files be transferred easily to Windows PC and imported into Adobe Premiere Pro?

I bought same camera yesterday after filming 15 min I realised my camera get too hot it was almost start burning from allover even the lens glass was too hot is this normal? Or should i contact with my seller? Oh also there was one more issue i put 64gb card camera did not give any error but not saving any video instead of saving video it freeze to main screen dont even let me turn it off then i remove the betray and start again. Any advice on these issues will be much appreciated. Thanks

Great review! some of the new features sound good, I have only had the Hero 5 for 7 months, I am interested in upgrading to a 6, but setting up the 5 cost me big bucks so I only want to upgrade the camera and sell the 5. I regularly use my Hero 5 with the Karma Grip, can you confirm that I will be able to use the 6 with the Karma with no technical problems. Thanks.

I had in the past considered purchasing an action CAM because of it size & versatility but very glad to have waited for this one with more future proof features than previous models, I'm so stoked with this camera that I've almost been using it on a daily basis "my very first" ever action cam before was solely recording & photographing with smartphones. I have encountered difficulties with pairing/connecting to GoPro (capture) App installed to my smartphone, it seems to indicate a WiFi connection on the camera but phone says no network connection & my phone suddenly automatically disconnects with WiFi when pairing with Hero 6. Please advise me on what I had done wrong & with regards to question on video recordings seems to not have pause functions, have I over looked such option or non exist? Finally is the micro HDMI the only output to TV monitors? What about lens & screen glass protectors? Cheers!

hello, nice videos. question the slowmo is always done when editing? there is no way no combine regular speed filming and slowmo while filming, and switch from one to the other while filming?

What settings would you recommend for fishing videos? And what editing system do you use?

Very good info. I am buying one within a couple days. I have not done much research yet, so you saved me hours of filtering through videos. As I am a water sports enthusiast, (surfing, scuba diving, fishing, boating, etc...), I am still concerned of the inherent water leaking issues of the Hero 5 Black. A lot of the good action is in less than 30 feet deep, such as catching lobster or spear fishing, (watch for my videos of that real soon), or at the surface under a bit of pressure while surfing. I can back it up with the super suit, but it is supposed to be waterproof to 10 meters, (33 ft), but a lot of people reported leaking issues from the lens cover and small cover on the side in 1 foot deep water. I would love to have the better sound recording without the super suit, but I might like the security of no water leaking with it in these specific given situations. Thank you very much for the detailed breakdown of performance, it answered many of the questions I would have probably called GoPro to get the answers before purchasing. I am already sold on it, just wanted to be less nervous of doing it. Sincerely, CapnStevo.

Wondering why GoPro doesn't allow you to do FB Live or RU-vid Live or IG Live from their app. Would think that would be a great feature and not much work to allow me to sign-in FB on their app - similar to Live4

Hero 5 had a big noise problem for being too sensitive. Has this been fixed in Hero 6?

You can overlay the GPS data using the desktop GoPro app. It was not working at the moment of introducing GoPro 5, but they added it later.

I have the hero 5 black, and thinking about getting the 6 but with a buddy rec on my IPhone 8+ shooting 4K at 60fps, and or with my iPhone X... I think I should just save up for the go pro 7... @gopro if your seeing this focus on 1) battery life, 2) SD CARD ISSUES!!! K thanks bye

When you say the low light feature is one of you favorite improvements, do you mean when you turn that feature on or just in general. I understood that the low light mode simple changes your frame rate automatically. Please elaborate on that for a moment if you would. Thanks..
