Great color grading especially the orange and teal color. Would you mind to share how to do that? I always failed to color grade orange and teal color. The tutorial would be much appreciated!
I can try to make a video on how to colour grade. Generally the orange and teal looks appealing since they are opposite colours and the human skin tones are in just a bunch of orange colours. Here's my tips: - Generally you want to shoot in some sort of flat profile and fix the contrast and saturation first. - Pull your shadows towards the teal and push a little bit of orange on the mid-tones, afterwards compensate on the highlights (if you want a warmer look you'll pull this towards orange). - Try be subtle with it! specially with the mid-tones! on this video I didn't try being subtle because I didn't show my face a whole lot but for shots with a human subject you want to tone down the orange a tiny bit since the human skin is generally in the orange side of the color wheel. Do you mean audio wise? No my unit is still (thankfully) functional normally. You’re still under warranty right try contacting GoPro see if there’s anything they can do. Sorry can’t help much :( I know having issues suck my xiomi yi 4k had cracklings audio for a whole and then the whole microphone system just failed so know the pain.
In terms of colours, I say the Hero9 is a bit more saturated just by looking at it (noticed that the Hero9 is not as flat as older gopros like the hero 5), I'll take some shots later and actually compare the waveforms and confirm it to you :)
@@JeffyTology I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED with the Hero 8 & 9. The Flat profile is NOT Flat! The hero 7 actually has a Flat Profile. I wish they would go back!!!!
@@adriandavidpayne indeed but it’s still a bit better since you can sort of try any match your footage together. Firmware updates can make it better I guess
I wouldn’t say true to life but the GoPro has decent colours for auto. keep in mind about gopros they are shit in low light situations and they split your videos in 4gig chunks. May I ask what type of activities you do? I can give more of a suggestion for cameras! Edit: Also can I add that GoPros are known to be unstable so keep that in mind!
@@JeffyTology my usage is for bike helmet and when I get down to shoot locations I like , for travel vlogs to be specific , but I want my videos to look like real life , Thanks for your answer Edit : in some comparisons I felt hero 7 is near to real life ,should I pick it
@@dollar1245 For travel vlogging it’s a pretty good little camera! I have another video in my channel comparing the horizon levelling to other cameras if you want more footage. As for another suggestion the insta 360 one r might be a good choice too!
Manually changing the colours myself, using tutorials on how to colour correct. That being said there are loads of free luts out there if you just search it on Google or youtube Having stills for reference also helps when trying to copy a look, screenshots from movies, for the subtle one I tried to copy the colours from the insta 360 one r 1 inch. Shoot in a flat profile and adjust the colours in post using whatever editing program you have. Also set the white balance if it’s nice and sunny out and you don’t plan to switch between outside and inside you can set the white balance to auto, if not you can set it to natural and adjust it in post again. If you don’t want to mess with the colours yourself you can just download other people’s LUTs but keep in mind that some of these LUTs might look funky because of difference of cameras settings so you need a bit of tweaking to make it look good as well
@@JeffyTology What editing program do you use? I've just started with gopro.... found the recommendation for flat colors but seems like the edit programs are hit and miss.... either they are cheap and don't work.... or they're expensive and take a degree to figure out.....
@@jeffmcc5267 I use final cut, I bought the student bundle with my Mac ages ago. It’s around 200 I believe. If you don’t want to spend to spend too much filmora. It’s about 70 I believe but colour grading options are not the best but workable. For free stuff try the free version of Davinci resolve, I don’t know what the limits of the free version is but I think you can do some colour correcting on it. Finally just little tips! :) - try not to colour correct too much just pull the colours slightly and see if that looks good and go from there. With newer gopros you’re sort of limited with the colours anyways since the image is actually not flat at all. - try to use opposite colours, for example teal and orange is a very popular one. This looks good because they are directly opposite the colour wheel. - If you don’t have a good monitor to view your colour grade properly. try rendering the project and watch it on your phone! If it looks good on your phone then you’re good to go! - lastly over expose your image a tiny bit when shooting flat :)
wrong colors. 0:30 the shadow is blue but should be grey, :) gp 789 always loves blue and hate red :) , so don't set on auto or especially native as you will never make red from orange, without distorting other colors :)
@@utube521 still brand new to this colour grading/correction thing tbh that’s why I said learning as I go! Also I noticed that the flat profile is not very flat compared to the GoPro hero 5 and hero 4… very weird
