These are the perfect settings that work for me on the Hero 7 Black: 4K 60fps FOV: Wide Stabilisation: Auto Protune: On Shutter: Auto EV Comp: -0.5 White Balance: Auto ISO Min: 100 ISO Max: 400 Sharpness: Low or Medium (I usually use medium but low looks good for some sports) Color: GoPro (I use flat, but then you have to correct the color in post)

Dirtbike footage is angled pretty low, I just want to reach through the screen and tilt it up

"Cameras always seem to wanna over-sharpen everything..." Yes, especially GoPro. Not only do they sharpen the image too much, their image processor does way too much edge sharpening (think: unsharp mask in Photoshop). That's the true culprit as to why it looks "fake". Set the sharpness all the way down and do whatever you want to the image but that edge sharpening never really goes away and it's a dead giveaway that the footage came from a GoPro. I wish they allowed users to set edge sharpening as a completely separate adjustment.

Honestly, while the dirt bike footage blew me away, the forest ATV footage still looked like typical GoPro footage - unable to handle all that detail - and I was disappointed there. And they removed HDMI out again, which is crappy. Super curious how this one run via HDMI out to a Ninja would look, where you're bypassing their wonky encoder. But you'd lose stabilization and such.

We want the dji pocket 2 vs hero 9 in lowlight. And I suppose which has better stabilization. But that lowlight comparison, come on peter.

That image stabilisation is utterly insane. Got one of these bad boys for Christmas and couldn’t be happier.

On the clip mount, mount the camera on the lower side (camera upside down). This will allow you to get the camera facing up without hitting the mount, you won’t have footage of the handlebars, you’ll have more of what the rider is looking at

I am upgrading from a Hero 4 Black which is still great being without a image stabilization, and I cannot wait for the camera to arrive and the most important thing about this is the fact that I am getting one from my boss. He asked me if I could make a presentation of our company and I told him that with that old Gopro of mine wouldn't be possible, but I could try with an iPhone X and he was amazed with the results. After that he said: order an Gopro for you at our cost. That was a good begining of the day!

I honestly think the new GoPro seems pretty sweet, but when it comes to dynamic range and separating your subject from the background. Eh...that’s where you can’t go wrong with your go to camera. The horizon lock looks very impressive! Good video bud.

On the motorbike you can clearly see that the chin is not the best place. Doing a lot of POV for my cars videos, the best place is simply where our eyes are. That's why i still use the GoPro Session with a headband or on a cap, you can put it between your eyes without screwing your field of view. It's not the most secured thing but we're going deep for a nice shot. Now i need to try this Gopro 9 and it's horizon lock, it might be the good one. But also need to try the sony fdr x3000 with its awesome dynamic range. Thanks for the update !

Unless someone really wants that front screen, 9 won't help. Especially when the price is almost double of 8. It's better to buy two 8 because anyways most users will keep the front screen off as it will drain the battery much faster.

Wow! Just bought a new GoPro 9, this horizontal feature is AWESOME! Always had a problem with horizon in previous 8 and 7 version

by far... this one video is the best example of how to develop a youtube channel as a business model that sells gear as an affiliate, ads as an influencer, and a bunch more! I'm using it as an example to my online business model students in my online courses...etc.. 🚀 too the moon good! Oh and I use my GoPro 7 all the time and my Drone.. but I'm def not a photgraphy buff like Peter... I'll prolly grab that GP9 ... I like the mobile and simple aspects of it.

Peter is just inconsistent, he’s all over the place, two months ago he made a video saying that the GoPro hero six had great footage, then he says oh I hate go pros. He didn’t test the go pro 8 that I can find, and the GoPro 9 looks almost identical to the 8, but NOW he thinks this time they may have gotten it right. GoPro’s have looked the same for the last 3 to 4 years with very minor differences in the stabilization and colors, but all the sudden Peter thinks they have cracked the code.

Hi! My name is Tyler I am a Go Pro Consumer. Go Pro Hero 9s are having an common issue overheating problem. Preventing streaming, hot climate, and use longer that 30minutes to an hour. I bought a GoPro Hero 9 October 2020. I bought it for streaming purposes. It took me a month just to get this to stream: research and ordered parts I had to pay for just to get it to stream (had to buy a media mod (Go pro accessory) and purchase mini hdmi cabling. Extra time was taken up to research how to get it to work on a Mac Book Pro on top of working full time with my job). By the time I was done with this my 30 day return was up. When everything was setup I couldn’t even get 30minutes out of a stream before the camera overheated and shut off. I figured okay these are just not compatible for streaming so I kept my Go Pro Hero 9 around for small video production. Eventually I had a need to us it for training videos for work. I used it within room temperature and filmed around 30 minutes worth of training content and it shuts off and cannot be used for another hour until it’s completely cools off. I figured it was a manufacturer defect and called Go Pro support. I ask if this is a common issue. They tell me it’s not and have me replace it. I get the replacement. First thing I do is test a video recording on default out of the box for 30minutes in room temperature. It turns off before the 30 minute mark due to overheating. I call support. Ask if it’s a common issue. They tell me it is normal and cannot do anything for me. It goes all the way up the manager chain to what I was told: “the last point of contact.” This is a customer service team within the Philippines. I ask if I can be transferred to corporate or an American solutions center and their lead supervisor tells me that an American Go Pro Support team does not exist. Basically he ends up telling me that he will report this to their product development team. I ask if they will follow up with me and he continues to avoid the question until he hangs up with me. (I’m requesting a refund or store credit so I can by a working camera the whole time). I have no idea who to talk to. I couldn’t really afford this product in the first place and now I’m stuck with something I cannot use. Even if I wanted to go hiking with this thing I know it’s just going to overheat and shut off. Definitely not worth the $300-500 I could have used for food and family. I was planning to turn this around with media content. I can hardly even do that. The Go Pro Hero 9s heating problem is a huge issue. With how hot the screen got I’m almost positive that things will start breaking within the unit from use, and Go Pro has done nothing to resolve the issue for me or the other consumers who are also struggling with this. Is there any legal amplifications for something like this? It’s sad that I have to look into legal just to be heard over this issue. How is the Go Pro Hero 9 not recalled? I’d just like my money back and get a camera that will actually work for my start up. I also wasted almost 3 quarters of a year wasting my time relying on Go Pro products when I could have been filming with something that works. Instead I’m writing this. Please let me know if anyone could point me in the direction of a legal firm that can help resolve this. Let’s get this issue recalled. Happy to help, Tyler

I love you are so blunt with GoPro. Horizon lock only works in Linear "Lens". I use my Hero8 weekly but still not sure if I'll upgrade to 9.(wait for sale). Amazingly smooth good looking video *sometimes in the right conditions* . YES CHIN SHOT!

As a motovlogger watching that bike footage was hard.. bad angles and bad camera setting choices. but I know.. it's takes a lot of playing to figure it all out. Still a good video for the average person that uses the camera for hobby scenarios.
