GoPro Hero Battery Extender - At Least 3 Hours More Power!
In this video I will discuss and demonstrate how to get about 3 more hours of run time out of my GoPro Hero 8's by using a couple of different external power sources.
I'll also show how I epoxy an Arca Swiss type quick release plate to a power bank and attach it to my video cage using the supplied clamp adapter. This setup powers my camera in "Never Sleep" mode and my GoPro mic adapter.

Thanks! Hopefully - this video will help alleviate some of the frustrations others GoPro users are experiencing. Especially during the time lapse mode. Thanks-a-million for your comment Gary! I really appreciate your comment and support!

I had to watch the out takes multiple times. That was rich! I am going to have to start saving mine. I nailed my shins good on my trailer hitch one time and it was unbelievable what came out of my mouth while the camera was rolling. That wasn't the only thing rolling. My wife was getting a good laugh at my expense.

Same thing Gary.....no one gets out alive around here. Everything is fair game around my place. The out takes are fun to produce by frustrating when the camera's are rolling. I think that's the appeal - you capture that frustration. Thanks for the comment Gary - have a Merry Christmas!

Batteries are a HUGE problem with the Go Pro camera's although they're better now than they used to be. Great video. Thank you.

Bota, a great video. I noticed you said you can get up to 3 hours recording time on your Go-Pro 8 with the handheld pod. So will your Go Pro record that long without timing out or getting too hot? My old Samsung DSLR camera will only allow 19 minutes of recording then it stops all by itself then I must restart recording from scratch. Thanks for this video. Full-watch. Had to chuckle at the bloopers. I surely have a truckload of them (smile). Have a fine Christmas.

Yessir! My GoPro 8 easily runs that long at my current settings without overheating or shutting down. I guess that was a problem with older models but like I said in the video, I'm running two of them from start to finish without any issues or having to change batteries. Help me stay focused on my content and not get distracted with messing around with my camera. Thanks for your comment and for watching my video! You're continued support means a lot to me!

Hey buddy I appreciate the shout out! I have been thinking about getting the hero 8 black as a second camera either that or a second hero 7 black. The 8 has some features I really like tho but it’s a bit more money as of right now. I love your camera setup with the external battery holder it looks like a professial rig for sure! You should see the junk I’m working with 😂 lol. My tri-pod is all bent to hell, camera is all beat up too but I have an external power brick like you have that I got from Walmart and it’s really helped a lot with making my videos longer. One question I do have tho is what amperage are your USB outputs in your external charger? I got the high output when I charged mine I wanna say it’s 3amp and the issue I have is when it’s a warmer day and my hero 7 is connected to it the camera will easily overheat as I think the charger is just charging it way too fast while it’s recording in 4k.. if I recorded in 1440p this prolly wouldn’t be an issue tho but I like to do all my videos in 4k and have had a real tough time finding a camera that can do 4k consistently with out overheating by getting over worked.. the hero 8 I hear is a lot better tho.. be curious to hear what you say.

Ha, ha, ha, ha.......there isn't a tractor content maker out there who hasn't run over a couple of tripods 😝 from time-to-time....wait until after Xmas - the price will drop on the Hero 8 Black now that the 9 is out. Also, you are completely correct. The power banks use 2.1amp outputs and I only use OEM batteries in the camera's. (They get pretty warm but no shut-down's yet). I cheaped out and got the low output bricks and that probably worked to my advantage. I only record in 4K and when I turn on the camera, I don't turn it off until I'm done so it's not unusual (for me anyway) to have 90 minutes of footage for 15 minutes of video. The whole reason I sprung for the 8's was because my gear was dying and when I looked online - everyone was raving about how much better they were over the previous models. Hope this helps. As always, thanks A LOT for the comment and the support!
