GoPro 8 is more realistic for action on RU-vid but one question I have Black 7 & is it necessary to upgrade from 7 to 8 for improving video regulation?
@@Flexy1217 I would suggest the ONE X, especially if you're running Windows. The MAX desktop software is only available for Mac. The only Windows application available is an extremely limited exporter app that will render a stabilized/stitched MP4 and GoPro's communication on this has been awful. At some point, these companies need to learn that maintaining the software that these cameras rely on is more important than the specs. While the MAX has better specs than the ONE X, it's much more difficult and time-consuming to edit.
Incredible reviewing. I love the idea of having a 360 cam to shoot 3rd person while on the move and the option to reframe later in editing. However, this review showed me that 360 cams (for my purposes) are just not up to snuff yet. To me, the quality is similar to the first couple GoPros. The GoPro8 Black is just on another level cinematically. As much as I want one, I think the best bang for (my) buck is to get an 8 now and 360 cam in 5 years or so when the tech catches up.
After watching a bunch of review videos of yours and others, I decided to go with the Hero 7 Black. The removable lens was the dealbreaker. And the Max was just too big. The 7 seems like the best of them all.
Ben, I have a MAX and I think you are misleading people in two different ways. The invisible selfie stick you are using has a large ring on the bottom which is visible in the eyes of the MAX, you need a smaller base. Second the "Horizon leveling" issue you are having in the software is because of the freeform controls, the camera isn't locked around the Y-axis. If you lock the rotation around the Y-Axis then you lose a lot of ability within the app (this is why you are almost forced to use the gyro controls for the insta360 to do your reframing). On the GoPro Player you can use the same y-axis lock going to traditional, which doesn't let you roll or break the y-axis, which is what you are looking for. You were so close but your lack of understanding is frustrating.
@@Gokushan I use the same software and I find it easy to use. I never used the Insta360 one X but it doesn't matter because the quality looks blurry and dull. I found the stitching to be perfect unless directly next to the side of the camera.
Awesome review ! I can make a wise choice when shopping for my next cam. I just feel the max isn't "maxed" out yet, on purpose. if gopro did so, they wouldn't make money . Like everything today, companies can come out with the best of the best with all the latest tech but dont. like the iphone, every year a new more expensive phone with minor tweaks lol 🤦🏻♂️
I love the images and form factor with the One X, but one big complaint: knowing when it is on...at beach couldn’t hear beep because of surf, couldn’t see screen because of sun glare. Overheated camera filming inside of my pocket for twenty minutes!
Great video. Just watched some other reviews, and the GoPro Max does have gopro max horizon leveling, also has the app had an update, as the workflow looked epic, where you move the camera to the shot in real time when playing it back, custom choosing the shot that you want.

I love my insta360. It’s colors aren’t as vivid as the Max, but the editing workflow is so much better to me. I wish it had protective lens covers like the Max has, but i am careful with it. And it’s not enough to make me upgrade to the Max. I will keep using my insta360 one x until version 2 comes out. I do like the Hero 8 tho. Currently use a hero 7 as my main travel vlogging camera. But i am curious about the new mod case for the hero 8 that is coming out in December. I also hope GoPro does a firmware update for the Hero 7 that will give it some of the same features of the 8. No reason why they can’t since both use the same chip. But i don’t know if Gopro will do that. The main thing that gives me pause about the hero 8 is that the lens cover is not removable like the hero 7. So if you scratch the lens, you gotta send the whole camera in for repair while you can easily replace it on the 7. So gonna keep both my insta360 one x and hero 7 for now. But they are all great cameras. And i may upgrade to the 8 after the media mod comes out.

I actually found a good tripod mount for the gopro when I had the Garmin virb 360 it works a treat with the max and my 7's. I like the mount heaps more over the screw in as you get one more axis of movement.

I say GoPro hero 8 I’ll give the 360 cams a couple more years for improvement. They are nice but still too early in development. They still need improvements.
That is caused by the rocks since they are not as easy to get detected for stitching as for example a field. I also assume the AI or algorithm did not consider rocks THAT much.
Great review👏🏼. I hope that gopro update the firmware for gopro max or can do something to improve the stitching line which is kinda weird to have a hand cut in half unlike insta360 does it way better for the invisible stick. That’s the only thing that i dont like.
Wow, the Insta360 software on the phone looks so much better for efficient workflow! The GoPro stuff would drive me mad. Either GoPro needs to close that gap, or the Insta360 needs to improve their quality (it all seemed super soft, less in focus and washed out to me).
If you want 360 and want to stick with GoPro, get the old fusion. I don't know why they did it, bit GoPro actually went backward with image quality and app support on the Max. The Fusion, while having a slower workflow, is superior to the Max in almost every other regard.
For a travel kit, I'm leaning to a GoPro Max with iPhone 11 Pro Max. I like the idea of using the GoPro on a stick while walking to capture 360 and pano view. I'll use the iPhone for photos, slow motion and low-light shots. And I can carry both far more easily than a DSLR.
iphone is not that great in low light, almost same as gopro now. if you want great low light, get a nice point and shoot like sony rx100 mark 7. although I think gopro max should be enough for all the tasks.
How easy would it be to break the screen on the max. I'm debating getting one to use when I sword fight or fence. We use steel swords. Sense it doesn have a protective case I'm debating if I should get the insta instead. I need the high stabilzation of the max though. What would you recommend. I record in fights of big battles like 25 vs 25 where I'm running around and moving alot. Would the stabilzation of the insta be good enough ? Would the max get ruined when it gets hit with no cover .
Will the Insta360 ONE X attach to a drone? I have a DJI Mavic Air with a built in front camera. Can you hang this camera and just let it dangle somehow?

I bought the Fusion 6 month ago an seeing the Max i really thinking about buying this one, manly because of the editing Max is doing and the Fusion doesn't. BTW shutting of the three dots on the upper right end press Turn Gyroscope off.

Everything about the one x is the feature it has. But sadly the video and audio quality doesn't match the Tag. It just recently released but I rather wait and pay for the next Insta One XX
