Couldn't agree more. I use both the Mic Adapter and the Media Mod, as the situation dictates. But I REALLY like the sound level bars you get on screen with the Media Mod.

Hi, I MOSTLY agree with you. My setup is a GoPro 10 and Volta. With the mediamod it a real pain to get at battery or SD card. Goto take it to bits. When I use the Mic Adapter with the Volta and a Ulanzi GP9-5 life is so much better. No issues at all with weight on usb C as you mentioned. I do miss the audio meter though!!!

Good video, but you missed telling about GoPro cages with an adapter holder included. There are several for example from Ulanzi available. Would be worth to mention, maybe the best option.

A: The video wasn't about how to mount a mic adapter, it was about which solution is better, mic adapter or media mod. I also owned such cages and they have the downside of mounting the mic adapter directly under the camera which means the thick usb-c cable actually puts pressure on the USB-C port as it doubles back to fit into the camera. Again, the video mentions the issues of pressure on the USB-C port (which the media mod alleviates).

Im gopro 10 with mediamod user but not happy because mediamod quick charge out

All the media mod does is gives you external audio, external usb-c and micro HDMI out. Usually it's camera screen settings, frame rate, resolution and hypersmooth that will drain a battery much faster. This is why my screen is always set to 10% brightness and to power off after 1 minute, I shoot in 4K @30FPS rather than 5.3K. I also use hypersmooth on it's lowest setting as it's just that good.

@@DemonViewLLC Two things I've noticed since using mediamode are the battery draining faster and the camera getting hotter

Are you able to use the USB-C to connect the external mic? Would seem digital would be better than the analog 3.5…

So what do I need to buy for motovlogging? I have Go Pro 11 black.
@DemonViewLLC
@DemonViewLLC 4 месяца назад
A car? Or a motorbike maybe? motologging from a bicycle doesn't work due to the lack of the moto part..... Jokes aside, if you're on a motorbike, I would suggest you get a lav mic, run it directly into a digital audio recorder. This way you'll have adjustable gain levels, peak protection and won't experience overdrive. Then sync with your GoPro in post. That way you can leave your camera sealed and waterproof.

Can you use external power and external mic with the media mod on a hero 9 at the same time?
@DemonViewLLC

Yes, external power via usbc, external audio via trs in

Thanks for getting back to me so soon. The reason why I asked if I found a bunch of posts in other platforms that said it bugs out the go pro and it won’t work correctly. Wanted to ask someone who seemed like they have maybe done it before without issues.
@DemonViewLLC
@DemonViewLLC 3 месяца назад
@@Joey_Randazzo With the media mod it's not an issue. I suspect other people were trying using the GoPro Mic Adapter and trying to use a USB-C mic (which won't work) with a USB OTG cable at the same time.
@Joey_Randazzo
@Joey_Randazzo 3 месяца назад
People were saying that with the power hooked up to the usb c, the go pro wouldn’t recognize the external mic. But when you unplug from phantom power and over to battery, it then shows the mic. Who knows. I’ll find out in the morning when it gets here.

Update: the media mod does not work for my situation. I hope it works for others. It is not consistent in providing function. Ready set go…. It works for about 5 - 10 minutes then powers down. Then will not turn back on at all. Has to be removed from the camera in order to power on. Then it powers on but the camera has no function. Just shows recording screen but no actually recording functions and won’t power down. Must unplug from power. Remove mod. Plug in power without mod. Then remove power. Add mod. Then power on. Then works…for about 5 - 10 minutes. This is on a hero 9, brand new bought last week. Camera functions perfect without mod…when it’s not overheating. I use this 4 go pros on my boat to film fishing videos. They last about 20 minutes before they over heat. I have an action 4 that will run for 8 hours in the same conditions with the same battery pack and mic. No issues at all. Hope others find this post helpful.

Ok. I think you're not familiar about small GoPro rig. It has adapter compartment. I am Jesus. You're review about adapter is not well sais. 😆
@DemonViewLLC
@DemonViewLLC Месяц назад
Oh I'm more than familiar with the Small GoPro Rig and as Jesus, being omnipresent and all, you should already know this. The rig still requires you to "Double back" the cable on the USB Mic Adapter which is really thick and therefore still puts strain on the USB-C port. I can't believe that Jesus has no knowledge of physics. Best speak to your dad about that one, he pretty much invented physics.
