This is a GoPro MAX 360 camera. it is mounted on a pole and has 2 lenses and sensors in opposite direction. when the footage from the 2 lenses is stitched together the software cuts out the pole the camera is mounted on as this is just between the 2 overlapping views of the 2 lenses.

I prefer a normal gopro 7 or higher for kayaking. Mainly because of the flat lens, ad it is easier to keep free of droplets. In rain , big waves or while rolling , I can lick the lens glass and rinse it with water. This creates an even layer of water on the lens that droplets integrate into. A spherical gopro max lens is more difficult to use in rain. The gopro 11 has much better quality and I even like the gopro 7 better than gopro max for water use. But when skiing snowboarding and mountain biking I actually prefer the gopro max. Gopro max is ok while kayaking in calm condition when it is not raining. It is an advantage if you are kayaking and filming a group of kayakers.

much better stitching, and I think a bit better quality. Also better photo quality in the GoPro Max. The advantages of the VIRB is 360 streaming, and that the editing is easier for long videos up to 1 hour, but garmin VIRB requires much more work in placing the camera as the stitching is less good.
