It varies by location but I can speak from experience about the state where I've worked in the food service industry & reply that there are very few health inspectors with very limited resources so restaurants can get away with all kinds of disgusting standards. One of the places I worked for three years, we didn't have a single health inspection by any county or state inspectors in the entire time I was there. In fact, we were visited at least once every six months by regional corporate management but not an actual health inspection official. It's just not a funding priority & definitely something to keep in mind when you go out to eat. Until there's a major outbreak of some kind of illness or food poisoning, usually restaurants can get away with it

Lol I couldnt help but laugh when Gordon suddenly started shouting NOW NOW NOW after being surprisingly calm for so long😅 It was so out of the blue. I feel bad for the owner he seems like he is in a rough place but endangering customers is not okay

Part of the show is an act->Gordon getting super super super angry but it's clear people wanted a authentic reaction rather than one that felt more dramatic. So that's probably what was. done,

@@sinisterisrandom8537 if you have followed Gordon for awhile even in his younger days, you'll see his normal reaction might seem dramatic to others, but its not., Its just his passion for standards, food, and safety. They probably have just dumbed it down for the snowflakes these days that get triggered by everything :-)

Don't they have food hygiene inspectors in the US?. If this was the UK, it's highly likely these guys would have been shut down a long time ago by the food hygiene inspectors. In the UK, every eatery gets a one to five star food hygiene rating from the local council. Those that don't pass are usually given a deadline by which to have made all the required improvements, otherwise they get closed down.

Inspectors are few and far between, spread over several thousand restaurants in a given state. They also inform restaurants of their arrival about a week prior so they have enough time to clean up, get things fixed, etc. Doesn't make sense but that's how they roll.

I dont know man, when i look at the new series, looks more made up. I'm sure these people know how Gordon is from the previous shows years back. Its almost impossible they would leave rotten stuff for that long. If I sign up for kitchen nightmare, the least I would do is to keep the place clean as basic requirement, forget about gordon, . He can critic my food all he wants.
