This reminds me of the style used by John Denver in Thank God I'm a Country Boy, or Grandma's Feather Bed. I prefer this one as more real and less corny...though I do like JD a lot.
John denver's carrier took a nose dive after he did that duet with Placido Domingo. The nasal sound reminded folks of finger nails scraping against a chalk board.
