Honestly, im usually cool with the kind of "give that slight extra vigilance," especially when talking the service side of things (mainly waitstaff) when it comes to VIPs. Making that slight extra effort to keep an eye on potential issues, that sort of thing. Because it can help prevent bad PR. But yeah. The baseline effort TO serve, and the quality of the food should already be at that level just for them being a customer, VIP or otherwise

Ben was always one of my favourites across the series. Big shame what happened when he came back in Season 17. Diagnosed with diabetes long long before the start of the season. He needed to go see a medic before the start of the first service, and then had to decide if he wanted to stay or go. Even in spite of the overwhelming odds, Ben chose to try and tough it out. Unfortunately, Gordon decided it was too risky to let Ben stay any longer, so he picked him out for elimination, despite being on the winning team. He's a trooper through and through, a legend, and one of my all-time favourites.

Gonna be real, Ben took the criticism admirably. Like, hes not just "yes chefing," him. Hes confirming he knows what he did wrong, even why its wrong, and is seemingly openly taking in Gordons corrections (even repeating them back for confirmation that he understands once or twice). Like, he was definitely fucking up, no doubt. But he was taking the criticism and fire like a champ.
