Gotta love flograppling, monopoly on broadcasting the sport and they still cant change the fucking names when new people are on the mats even the best in the world. Thought this was just at low level belts they fuck it up.
@Kyle Hines The other match is Nicky Rod vs Cyborg. If you watch the Nicky vs Cyborg match, you can see Gordon/Hulk in background and Gordon looking over to see his teammate getting his hand raised. Pretty funny given the situation Gordon is in himself lmfao but also kinda cool to divert his attention to his teammate winning
This is why Gordon insists on no time limit submission only rules. He wants to keep his submission rate up, and here Hulk's most impressive skill was avoiding penalties for stalling.
Gordon is a great example of the right athlete matched with the right coach. Some examples in other sports would be Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson, or Mohamed Salah and Jurgen Klopp. It’s so important for athletes to have faith in their mentors and the systems they build around them. Really nice to see that sort of symbiosis.
@@joecunningham9979 are you drunk ? He held onto him after being rag dolled no points dead Gordon. Body lock slam death ... ref blows whistle disqualified for actually knowing how to fight
Gordon wrestling is high level? He cant wrestle hes take down is so weak Even a guy who do 6 months wrestling have better take down than black belt BJJ guys
Jesus u guys really are desperate for someone u can idol in BJJ. Don't get too excited, Brazilian are training no gi more these days...soon we will see how good he is.
@@benlaurent3102 he just won once, ADCC 2019. Doesn´t make him a legend, Galvão won 5 times, and flograpling dont make everyday video about him or any shit he says, or mica galvão...ou Preguiça, these guys are legends, win once in life its good...but not a god on earth.
@@thallesferreira_ Everyone really knows that winning the Open Weights is the top stuff at ADCC which even Andre has won only once lol. So have Gordon, Braulio and Roger. Andre does superfights only these days lol. It doesn't indicate greatness. So saying he has 5 without context is bs and you know it. Also Didn't Andre win 1 in 3 tries in his own weight class ?
@anonymous Hulk couldn't go for a back take. Gordon was extending his arm to block the leg from coming in. Threatening the switch and kimura. You can't just jump up on their back. You'll just waste energy falling off. Need to set it up Gordon was defending nice by threatening. But hulk showed some nice wrestling i like him.
Plenty of people try offense. Buchecha when he was down an advantage. Lachlan before he lost. Course Felipe is the only one to be successful that I can remember. Which of course why no matter if Gordon calls him an easy match or not, a submission against Felipe is crucial to his Legacy.
I've done tennis, basketball, soccer, track (sprinting the 100, 200, and 400), football (we had a small team and had to play offense and defense the entire game), hiking, all sorts of different sports. Handball, paintball, etc. etc. Besides sprinting I think grappling (3 years of wrestling in high school and 10 of Jujitsu after that) is the most exhausting of them all. [edit: Removed golf; clarified grappling; clarified what I did in other sports]
@anonymous Let me remind you that in the majority of the exchanges on the feet, Lucas was the one to back out (don’t take my word for it though-watch the match again, look at who backs away from whom, especially in the regulation period). Then, the first decisive move of the match isGordon passing Hulks elbow by and chasing the far hip, Hulk tries to go uchi mata counter, they land on the floor-the exchange ends with Lucas in turtle position, Gordon on top of him covering his hips. Ref made a mistake and restarted them standing (even Mo Jassim head ADCC organizer has said this was a clear mistake). Then Gordon pulls guard (which is not a negative thing to do lmao) and Hulk proceeds to play patty cake and barely tries to pass Gordon’s guard. Again, don’t take my word for it-watch how many times Lucas legitimately tries to pass his guard, as opposed to jumping around without any purpose. Now onto the overtime. Lucas does a great job getting to a double, switches to a single, tries to switch to a double again, gets in on a rear body lock, and lifts Gordon a few times without managing to score. This is the most Lucas had engaged in the match up to now. Then what happens? He gets his back taken and goes into a full belly down pancake position to avoid being finished in the last 30 seconds. So, did Lucas dominate? Far from it. He disengaged in the majority of the exchanges on the feet, barely made any legitimate attempts at passing Gordon’s guard and instead opted to play patty cake for the last five minutes. He does a good job getting in on the hips initially during the overtime, but it ends up with him getting his back taken and almost finished. Side note: Can you genuinely explain why butt scooting is a bad thing for Gordon to do? If his opponent doesn’t want to engage his guard, he can’t just lay on his back-he needs to come forward and pressure his opponent from bottom to force engagement. Gordon shouldn’t even need to butt scoot if his opponents actually come forward and begin pressuring his guard (step a leg outside, step a leg inside, throw the legs by, etc.). Look what happens when Lucas steps a foot inside-Gordon can’t butt scoot anymore because Lucas has actually come forward and somewhat tried to engage.
Lucas also believes he has a victory over Gordon because Gordan gave him a tenner to pay for his lunch at Applebees. I'm not trying to prove a point I just like telling this story
They’re all on steroids anyway. As annoying as Gordon is he technically brilliant. Combination of being a natural, a hard worker and having possibly the best coach for submission grappling
@@innertubez yeah. 3 years ago. With a significant size advantage. Not that they are the same size and Gordon has always been more technical felipe is dodging every opportunity. Felipe is 2-6 since beating Gordon.
@Porrada Everyday how is that irrelevant you dork? buchecha beat joao rocha 6 times yet he lost their last match. gordon has improved massively pena has stayed the same.
@Porrada Everyday so you are just gonna ignore everything i said and keep brining up matches that happened 3 years ago. keep living in the past. felipe got his leg torn off by tex and manhandled by galvao.
Robert Aversa Way different, Gordon’s dvd covers basically every possible situation in turtle and minimal back control, while Danaher’s is the opposite
Zero real passing attempts by Hulk, it is interesting to see how Ryan forces passive opponents to engage, a facet not yet to explored in JJ, and less in nogi.
Hulk knew that if he actually engaged, Gordon would have finished him in under 5 minutes. Watch everyone’s strategy when they compete against Ryan: spazz around, stay away and avoid engaging while waiting for the opportunity to score points and never have to engage again. Only two people remotely engaged Gordon on bottom: Ben Hodgekinson (sorry if I butchered the name) and Tim Spriggs. Look at what happened to them: Ben got his back taken in the first 50 seconds, Tim got his back taken as well, then finished. You could also throw Buchecha in there as well, given he actually came forward and tried to engage for the first two minutes, and what happened? He got swept clean to mount, then Gordon got half-way to his back while he tried to escape. Gordon’s on a different level.
@@Chris-tf5bq no one was smashed here lol no one lost or won it’s points and with the body lock he could have literally killed Gordon with one slam hence the rule set of silly play pretend
@@oliverpersson6090 I’m sorry let me switch it around if he had attempted to wrap Gordon the same way he could have killed him with one slam ..... so let’s get this clear why are slams illegal in bjj again ........... answer it don’t be a bitch
Does anyone know the dillema gordon was playing by putting collar ties on in half butterfly? Was he trying to get lucas to posture so he could underhook and invert across to the far leg?
@will to fight sure, but it was the same with baseball players in the 80s, all of them were on steroids. And now all of them have asterixes next to their achievements.

Lol so true! I suppose when stall, backup, pullaway and hope to win on a takedown are your only plans it makes sense. I bet he was furiously rubbing vaseline into himself before this match 🤣
They really should build a fence around the mat. This way successful takedowns wouldn’t stop the action because they went thru the border and you would get a completely new way of fighting on the cagewall.
