@@openmike2941 You're not wrong! Firas Zahabi said on the JRE that every time Gordon rolls, every single movement he makes is all Danaher. It's like Ryan downloaded his mind and turns on Death Squad mode when he's on the mat. I doubt he even turns it off.
@@Lorendrawn A funny watch for everyone is listen to Gordon's instructionals or even his lessons hes adopted Johns speech patterns lol not just the japanese names but the sounds they make to take pauses
He's an awesome dude I've met him at a lot of my amateur fights and he's always friendly and takes pictures with me and gives his time and good advice. His whole team ( Fusion XL) are all such solid people in my experience!
@@ansonyt3966 Does the gym name "Elite Muay Thai" ring a bell for you? I trained there for a few years. Phil came around on occasion to train with our guys. Definitely seen him around at local amatuer fights back in the day. I rolled with him a few times.
4 submissions. He decided to take. great tutorial. the weight difference is clear but the fluidity of Ryan is sublime. shows that even at the top the difference is between good and great is as big as between beginner and good.
@@VibeinATLien Jumping Jesus, man. I bet you don't know anyone who ACTUALLY thinks "racism is cool". Let's bring back Dark Humor along with Gordon Ryan's Dark Meat.
@@dannyVulture yeah but Phillip Rowe learned so much in those 15 minutes and got better at defending himself as it went on. Great event and great performance from both men
@@dannyVulture got to be in it to win it but yes.. Gordon is big.. Obviously we know why. You take a gifted person and give them PEDS... Well.. Its not close
Went to High School with GR..Remember seeing him here and there in between classes. Never spoke with him too much but it’s awesome seeing how successful he became. Keep going man ! Crazy
@@youtubeblows326 nothing in this post suggest he’s lying, if he he said they were good friends and hung out a ton maybe you could claim he lied. But, all he said was that he saw him between classes, totally believable.
@@darrennguyen114 not only that, when your confidence and wisdom has transcended everyone else in the current available competition you can do whatever you want. The King does whateva the fook he wants.
Mind boggling people still try to pass Gordon from stationary half guard. Gordon has one of the best halfgaurd transitions in the game if not the best.
@@ElPersistente Really? Are there no Men who are equally or better qualified to offer commentary? Fact is that she was chosen simply because she has a front butt, and for some reason women need to be involved in every form of Men's sporting events. Can she make a sandwich? That's the real question.
He definitely knows how to grapple but what his overall advantages is his strength. The same way a fully grown man can play around with a child is the same way. Steroids makes him stronger than other men. I like Gordon but cheating is cheating and most of them are on gear.
Them actually rolling, performing escapes, sweeps, etc was a lot of fun to watch.. Much better than the competition BJJ formats where it's done for points..
@@blakebrodeur3267 sorry think I misunderstood ya, but yeah man his core and his technique makes it look so effortless guess you could say that it being an exhibition added to it looking that way but that's really stretching to find a criticism. I did want to see more of his escapes, that arm bar escape he did was dope too.
i love rowe yelling at the commentator that gordon didnt let him have that kimura... he layed on his side not controlling you and cocked his elbow up lol
GR is form another world. I had to rewind the vid to rewatch some of his moves over and over again. Just beautiful. Props to Rowe for stepping up to this and giving us such spectacle.
This type of match gives most of us an idea of what it'd be like: if the best guy at your school open mat rolled with Gordan Ryan. We've all wondered how that guy you know that smokes everybody else at your gym would do against the best guy out there. I would love to see more matches just like this.
idk, since Gordon's doing these exhibitions for a while, I think Khabib is a great promotional match up. To say "Khabib would kill GR" or vice versa is way too hard to say. In straight MMA, I'd give Khabib the edge, but GR is world's above MMA guys grappling as we can see here sooooo what happens to Khabib's grappling skill level when he's against the greatest pure grappler of the modern world?
@@phoenixamaranth How is that even a question, Khabib would get destroyed. It's really weird to me how people can't disconnect dominance in a certain sport and weight class from the best in a different sport.
Props to Rowe for showing up! Hopefully he learned something to advance his game. That pre-fight mentality was quickly smothered when the King layer his hands on him.
@@TheDirtyyoungman1 I used to train with him back in the day. He would occasionally stop into my gym at the time, Elite Muay Thai in Daytona beach, to train with us. I even fought on/been at amateur events he fought in. He was always an arrogant show-boater. Would mock his opponents, etc. People like him because he's very charismatic, but most people are m0r0ns and sheeple so that's hardy surprising. Just how the world works. His character and heart deep down is trash. I remember rolling with him one time, and I took his back and went for a rear-naked-choke, and he pretended like he gave up the position on purpose, as if he allowed me to choke him to help "teach" me or something. Deep down he has a massive ego.
I'm new to jiu jitsu I dunno much abt it but this Gordon guy seems like he can take the fight to whatever position and situation he wants...I'm eager to watch more abt him honestly.
13:46 this is why I won't pay for Flo until they get their shit together. Why does it seem like someone's asleep at the wheel so often that it's basically a meme that the commentator actually has to mention camera angle at least once per match?
@@1234kingconan if they kept the camera on the relevant parts of the action and did monthly subscription rather than requiring a full year up front there wouldn't be much to complain about
When rowe threw those punches almost saying he wish it was a real fight so he could be dominating and then gordon flipping him right over and gets on top and shows that he would dominate him in a ufc style fight as well
Gordon literally gave his back multiple times and Rowe refused to take it. Turtled as well. Those were the moments I'm talking about. Like, attempt something my dude. How often do you get to roll with the best in the world? It's a wasted opportunity.
its great to see the level of knowledge from the fans, the way these guys flow in and out of submissions and escapes. Keep the competition at high level makes great fans.
9:20 Bro the way Gordon lets Rowe take his arm and extend it, then magically it just... isn’t an armbar anymore... lol. This man and his coach John have legitimately broken jiu jitsu. They need to patch these glitches ASAP
"Measured analysis"? I lost count of how many times her analysis was "Rowe is going to look to push the pace now" You only realise how good, good commentary is when you hear bad commentary.
That look on Rowe's face after the 4th submission was him thinking,...."I really have a long way to go and may never get there." Ryan is truly a master at his craft.
@@Stargazerz like professional wrestling i suppose. He did move to Austin though, so probably a costume that resembles a Steve Jobs would have been more appropriate. The guy is an absolute animal on the mat. No doubt there.
That sport with all the angles used builds those cats so strong, building up the pulling power and pushing power from all angles humanly possible. VERY versatile. I admire these cats.
