Can you imagine how good Gino Hernandez could've been had he not died? I think he could've gone to the NWA & feud with Ric Flair Magnum TA & Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard then replacing Ole Anderson & becoming a Horsemen
Was Gino influenced by Flair at this time? Flair vs Gino would've been the ultimate dream match. I know they wrestled a few times, but thoes matches weren't on tv in texas,if i'm not mistaken, but they never had a program.
Other when Flair came to Texas as world champ, I don't think he ever worked the same territory as Gino, who primarily stayed in Texas (either Dallas or San Antonio). Houston wasn't really a territory, but more of an All-Star venue. Boesch didn't have his own champions so he booked the champs from the other territories like Dallas (Von Erich), San Antonio (Joe Blanchard), Amarillo (Funks), El Paso (Gory Guerrero), Tri-State/Mid-South (McGuirk and later Watts) and even the AWA
Gino claimed Jose Lothario convinced him to pretend to be Mexican and dye his hair black. He got tired of it and decided to show his "natural" blonde hair
