This week we tick off a major bucket list idea - walking with endangered mountain gorillas in Uganda.
We still can't believe we walked with endangered mountain gorillas!!! It truly was the most terrifying experience of our lives.. but truly magical all at the same time.
We flew into Entebbe and were picked up by our tour guide Chi Chi from African Overland Tours.
After making our way across Uganda we arrived at the Bwindi Impenetrable forest, the national park home to over half of the worlds mountain Gorillas around 600 of them.
We were told the trek can be anywhere between 30 minutes and 6 hours! And we'd be walking into the forest to see a family of 12 Gorillas, including the silverback Dad!
Before we went in we asked Habib what to do if a gorilla attacked us so we were prepared. Luckily they just walked very close to us, there was no touching!
It was the most incredible experience, we were so privileged to walk amongst them knowing how precious their little lives and existence is.
It really was a life changing adventure with such a jaw-dropping and heart pounding encounter.
But this wasn't all Uganda had to offer..
From the accommodation to the game drives and river boat cruise safaris -- Uganda is INCREDIBLE! We cannot wait to visit again.
Huge thank you to African Overland Tours for the most unreal itinerary. If you guys want to do the same trip as us and want to explore the forest and Gorillas we'll leave their link below!

Trev you're so authentic with your anxiety, and that helps me immensely with mine. I have extremely bad PTSD and the fact that you're so honest about your anxiety and thoughtful about it helps me with mine. I know being raw and vulnerable is not easy, but thank you. You have no idea how much that helps others that suffer from extreme anxiety as well. You inspire me, and other than the fact I love watching both of you together (you're both perfect for each other and I love watching that), I keep coming back to watch your innocent honesty about it.

Uganda!!! I was so excited to see you were visiting my home as a child! My parents worked in the West Nile District of Uganda and my heart. We lived there for over 18 years. My heart is always in Africa. The sounds, smells, sights and whole experience is always with me. Even 50 years after leaving and living in the USA, Africa has left it's imprint deeply in my heart. I never saw a gorilla but all the other animals,YES!!! I love your travels. Thank you for sharing!

Do you think the gorillas ever get tired of “tour groups” coming through? They are so magestic but like us also need their space. What an Amazing trip! Thank you for sharing.I hope Africa remains like this and never becomes a tourist attraction.

Each family of gorillas only gets one visit a day and only for one hour. They are very strict about it. Without the money that tourist gorilla trekking permits provide, they would probably already be extinct. (Mountain gorillas cannot live in captivity.)
@jerryadriko

Good question, all the gorilla families here in Uganda get visited once a day only in the morning and early afternoon, they are actually habituated before tourists start visiting them, win-win for tourists and conservation efforts.

Not sure if its the full moon or life, or seeing the Gorilla's and your reaction to it but I just burst out crying. I went to Uganda and did the same tour years ago...and I know that feeling of being in absolute awe of these beautiful creatures. I also got a key ring, and a mask that proudly sits on my wall at home to this day that was bought by the light of two nokia mobile phone (they didnt have power after dark) after half a bottle of wine in anticipation of the 'big walk' in the morning. Very happy memories recalled back watching this. I would encourage everyone to visit Uganda. The people were so friendly and open, and being able to support the conservation of these magnificent animals for the future generations was humbling. xx.

I’m a fairly jaded 35+ year feature film AD, and usually spend 7-8 months a year on the road. The great thing about making movies (vs commercials) is that I get to go to that place, whether it’s Cincinnati or Luxembourg for 3-4 months at a time and really get to absorb local culture. For a career, that part is a gift. As for you two, I discovered you during lockdown 2020, and have loved seeing your camera work, editing, music cues, and overall production values grow exponentially. Really. I’m a harsh critic of filmed things, but I always smile watching your vids, so the visceral reaction is working. Well done ❤

Wow, this looked like such an awesome experience - you guys are so lucky. I think I would have cried at seeing the gorillas as well. I also get travel anxiety like Aimee, and I also think part of it is the body knowing it’s going to be put through an exhausting day. That’s why it’s so important to take plenty of rest between your trips. Take care, and I’ll be glued to wherever you go next!
