Hi, is there a reason you keep deleting the Gorilla Information links I'm trying to share with others in comments? I tried to share these links a few times but each time you are deleting them. The links are for great pages where you can get information about Gorillas by searching their names. There is nothing wrong with the links and I have used them for years. Please tell me why sharing these links are an issue for you. YES!!!! I think most of us Gorilla fans who love and watch these families daily would love to do the same. I would love to not only donate but to visit the Zoo's and go to those amazing volunteers who have sanctuaries in the wild, and give them $ to give those poor babies who's families were killed and they were on their way to being sold after by evil poachers, the # needed to update and get all the modern day medications, help, Vets., they need to give them a better life! If only we had that power and $$$!! Maybe one day!!!

@@bxchicc7799 , I would LOVE THAT!!! Im in USA, East coast. Most of the Gorilla families I watch are in Asia or Europe. I do have The Philadelphia Zoo near me with the Silverback Motuba and his troop. I bought a year pass to get videos then BANG!! COVID hit. So, sadly, I never got more tickets. I went a few times, my plan was to go in the winter months when the screaming, disrespectful ^ obnoxious kids would be at school because I had heard from a YT Page owner who went there often that in the winter months the Zoo is empty often during the weekdays and a great time to sit with the Gorillas and get great one on one time. Now spring is coming fast. The kids are insane, can't handle them screaming and banging the glass as their parents act like its funny.Last time I was telling a little boy near me thats not cool, "Hey Buddy, you are scaring them. If someone was looking in your window at home and banging on it, wouldn't you get angry and scared?" He replied, "Yeah, I don't want to scare them, I will be good. ok?" He was actually a good little boy, he just needed to understand how they feel and then he was very sweet. Sad more parents don't find it important to have empathy and compassion for these gentle and sensitive Gorillas then teach their children the same feelings.

I am sure baby 🌸 Sumomo sleeps really well at night from all the attention she gets during the day from entire troop, and after all her supplemental feedings from the keepers 😊.

@@jlsherman5805 😂I agree! Baby Sumomo still gets 🍼 bottle fed through the bars, and she is also eating solid bite sized foods. She likely is 💤 sleeping through the night with a full tummy 😌.

Gentaro DID carry Kintaro on his back, which is a true sign of love and friendship. Stop inflicting human social norms on literal zoo animals. Our own ancestors didnt practice them, and If you think gentaro hurt Kintaro, imagine momo. You know, a full grown gorilla peen is smaller than a human thumb, right?

Momoko has raised 5/6 babies. She is an excellent mother. I am not a bit worried about her. Komono learned about caring for babies from her mother, Momoko. She is doing fine. It is nice to have back up though.

I'm confident Haoko and Momoko will keep an eye on everyone whenever they're interacting with Sumomo. They are both great parents and will be very protective of the baby. They know the youngsters just want to spend time with her, but they'll make sure Sumomo is safe. Haoko loves babies, he's going to have his eyes peeled and on her the whole time!

It's exactly the same as Gentaro who was also 10 months when he went back with his family. Like Sumomo he visited Genki through the bars for some time and she accepted him straight away and slept with him and carried him around from the first day. After that he was bottle fed by keepers through the bars. Shortly thereafter Momotaro joined them. Kintaro was never removed from Genki, she fed him and he was also fed supplement milk by keepers.

Yeah , you’re correct , she is kintaro’s little aunt .

What's interesting is that Genki lived in the same troop with Momoko for a while, and they did not get along to the point that Genki had to be removed from the group. Fast forward a few years, and Genki's mate is Momotaro...Momoko's son by Biju!

I wonder if she is the main reason why Genki bit off part of her finger, due to the stress of a contentious relationship? I always wondered who could have driven Genki to such a intense and disturbing reaction. Is Momoko that mean of a Mother-in-Law, so to speak? So even some Gorillas have to deal with that kind of thing!?

Genki is a very sensitive, nervous gorilla. They have personalities, just like people do. Genki could not handle the stress of the hierarchy the females establish in a gorilla troop and started self-mutilating in response. You can see a lot of Genki's insecure personality come through in the way she's raised both Gentaro and Kintaro; she is a very clingy mother and so both boys are a little immature for their ages in my opinion.

I remember reading that during the 90’s Japan gorilla care was not great…gorillas lost weight and stressed. Westerners joined Japanese care givers and improved conditions. I believe Genki was moved and placed into a not so ideal situation…along with neglect. Moved her back to original zoo and placed with Momotaro. The videos of her trying to get Momotaro to mate is funny. They make beautiful baby gorillas and Genki is very good mother and Momo an excellent Silverback!

@@pamcunningham9608 I chalked up Genki’s clinginess towards Kintaro to the Zoo staff having previously removed Gentaro from her care (in order to care for him better) and so she didn’t want to set Kintaro down for fear of having the same thing happening to him. I can’t fault her for that, plus it worked. Your information is an interesting perspective on Genki. I watched a recent video of Momotaro being affectionate with Kintaro in a wood framed nesting box and Gentaro was watching. Once Kintaro left the box, Gentaro picked up a light weight tire nearby and threw it, rather precisely, but not too forcefully, into the unoccupied end of the box that his father was sitting in, startling him. Gentaro definitely wants attention from his parents and little brother and a little excitement in his life too, as he is quite intelligent. He does seem comically “bratty” at times. I realize I’m anthropomorphizing a bit, but it seems somewhat tolerable or even reasonable when it comes to our fellow Apes.

Thank you for sharing the information and your question. I haven't seen Sumomo walking by herself since she reunited with her family on 19 this March. She can probably do it, but her family gorillas are always curious about her and they look want to stay, move with her. I hope she will be able to venture away and find new things by herself in the near future.

They are, Momoko the mom of Sumomo is Momotaro's mom also, but I can't work it out. Different dad's.🦍

Thank you for your question. Momoko couldn’t breastfeed Sumomo since she got an anemia after giving birth to Sumomo. Their keepers bottle feed Sumomo.

Zoo keepers fee her baby bottles at The gate. Mother is still sick after she had the baby. She doesn't breastfeed. Zoo keepers feed her every day.

The zoo is still bottle feeding. They offer treats to the mother who brings her over to be fed.

Apparently she's hand fed several times a day by keepers.

If and when mom can't supply milk, the zookeepers supplement with bottle feeds.

Sumomo is given a bottle by the keepers (through the bars) several times a day, they must do it at times when the gorillas already have health checks, etc.. (before and after going out to the public exhibition area). Until Sumomo has not had the strength and independence to be able to go to the bottle in this trained way, she has not been returned to the group. It is a complicated subject!

@@barbstube10 It’s a pleasure! I study primatology as a hobby and I follow the gorilas in Japan, for the amount of videos available on RU-vid. I suppose Sumomo is also eating some fruits and vegetables… I saw videos from the zoo where she was trying first fruits etc.. like a baby, they will start introducing more things to her diet. She is so cute! 😍

Yes I also first became hooked on Momotaro family. As I recall from their videos, both Gentaro and Kintaro were eating mashed sweet potatoes and apples by the keepers at this age, and I remember Genki bringing Gentaro to the grate to be fed bottles. She completely cooperated with the keepers, as she knew she had no milk at that point. And we all know how intelligent they are!❤️

Momoka is very young! and she is learning! In addition, Sumomo is very strong and resistant... she cannot be compared to a human baby. She will now be gaining strength! I don't know if you've seen the group of gorillas at Tapiei Zoo.. there is a mother there who has been tremendous... hahaha she dragged him along the ground and everything!! and the calf (Jabali) has grown perfectly and is totally healthy and happy. With that zoo, it seems that Japan has reached an agreement to exchange gorillas in the future.

LOL, she is still young. I hope this will help her to prepare for her own babies someday.

I don't like to see Momoka with her, and now Riki is kidnapping her too. Pray she does not get hurt

@@raquel_cb_ I feel the same way about Jabali's mom; she's very immature .. enjoyed the process but not committed to end result. Back to Sumomo, Riki handled her better than Momoka.
