This is a rather pleasant cemetery. For having so many headstones, it is uniquely well kept, perfectly mown grass, as green as can be, with everything in its place. I am amazed at how beautiful it is in its simplicity. The guinea graves are sad to me but probably the best one could do living in poverty. I hope they will be remembered as all the others are.

Private John Irlam was in the 8th Battalion (Ardwick) Territorials, Manchester Regiment. That's what the 8th Ard means. Not only the Australians suffered, but the New Zealanders, and a lot more British regiments.

Thank you for that answer Bungy106 I was going to say that about the 8th Ardwick , there is a war memorial at Ardwick green to them .the Lancashire regiment had a lot of casualties there , my parents were from Gordon and they used to tell me about the battalion. This drives me mad my father was at D day and all we hear is the Americans landing because of that film Saving Private Ryan and the Anzacs at Gallipoli in WW1 , but in this country nobody seems to care what our heroes did , the beach at Gallipoli is called Lancashire landing since then , the first group 200 of them was whittled down to 21 men with the Turkish machine gun fire , 6 VCs before Breakfast I was told in the early sixties.

You stood right near to my mothers and nieces grave, my mother died in 1974 aged 40, and my niece died in 1985 aged 3. my mother, niece, grandad, cousin and my lifelong friends are in there. i was in there at my mothers grave and my friends graves not too long ago, but we get mixed feelings about visiting relatives, sometimes we go in a lot out of love, and sometimes we stay away because as we get older it brings home the reality of our own mortality. to me, life is like a cruel prison sentence, we are given this life, we grow up all happy and having fun like it's going to last forever, then in the blink of an eye we are older and we realise we are going to die some day and all this is going to come to an end. it frightens me like nothing else.

Frightening isn't it. There's nothing can be done about it though unfortunately. Just have to be a good person and hope to live a long healthy life.

It is a lovely cemetary and is situated in the town where I grew up. Some well known people laid to rest there- namely- Pauline Reade, the moors murder victim. Foo Foo Lammar- Frank Pearson the entertainer and famous Manchester drag act, and apparently Davy Jones’ ashes from The Monkees was scattered where his grandmother was buried as he was from Openshaw. Great video thanks!

Please make a video of the cemetery part of the Polish people, immigrants 1947 who fought against the British army and the Germans are buried. Many Poles went through Stalin's gulag on their monuments with inscriptions, dates of Siberia and the war. I will be very grateful.

Hi,I’m wondering did you come across a grave that has a cross and says Paul Andrew eyre? My dads one but I was there other day and couldn’t find it but emailed Gorton and they said nothing has been destroyed?
