Good video as always. My thinking around Dyneema and its use in this application is its lack of abrasion resistance compared to something like 1000d cordura. It is cool stuff, don't get me wrong, but it is specifically designed for certain rather niche applications, requiring lightweight waterproof fabric like ultra light tents or rain jackets. For a harder use case in a bag, that will get put on the ground, rub against a brick wall, bugging out through the woods hitting tree bark and branches or whatever, it won't wear as well as the much cheaper options in the corduras and ballistic nylons. However, it is for sure much lighter weight. So, if you absolutely, positively want the lightest bag in a particular form factor, then Dyneema will get the job done. But think about it, if you are going to ruck with the pack, the point is to carry weight. One doesn't ruck the lightest load possible, they ruck the load they need to. Once someone can ruck weight comfortably, they shouldn't need to seek out and pay a premium price for the lightest possible bag to save 1 lb. They've been rucking by that point. They can afford to carry durability. They are anti-fragile. A literal 1lb of weight savings in the pack should basically go unnoticed once it is on your back and you are going miles. If that 1 lb is a deal breaker, then it is time for a goal reevaluation.

Great video! I have the GR1 26L in Dyneema, so not apples to apples, but I couldn't be more pleased with the material, build quality, and aesthetics of the bag. The GR2 would be nice when doing more than overnight travel and in cases where you need more organization.

Pound sand! I have a GR3 I use it for travel. My main pack for all my travel items. Love that it holds large volume and it's quality built and it's life time warranty sold me as well.

Pound Sand! …at that price. But I know GoRuck is a premium product, US made and serviced by Scars, and is mostly indestructible. I have a great Tom Bihn Synic pack that does more than 90% of what I need. When this bag ends it service, I have my 👀 on a GoRuck. I use an old, 20+ yr, Swiss Army backpack with some cheap weights to ruck. It’s a struggle to keep the weights from the bottom so I aspire to a rucking built bag one day

Most really well built bags are not gonna fail on you. Like I don’t see something like a van quest bag failing for instance. I think the Dyneema is just really fancy and if you can afford it then get it for sure. Personally, I would never drop that much money on a bag, but it’s really cool.

Kuiu packs are fantastic at half the price. Tough, well organized, light with a insanely comfortable (removable) hip belt that carries a heavy load if needed. Not to mention, the Divide 1500 can even carry a rifle if you need to and expand. It does breathe well. I'll have 25-30 lbs in it and go hiking here in Florida and my back stays relatively cool (considering how f'n hot it gets). From EDC to weekend hunting, it can cover every need you have and it won't fail on you. You can't beat it.

Ive come to own three for goruck bags, started with a bullet 15 L, which I now use as my bike bag with reflective straps and patch, a gr1 slick from huckberry for day to day, a gr2 for travel or longer trips, I've come to love these bags dont think I'd ever go back to Jansport which for the price are good bags and there are so many options

Dude, I kid you not. I don’t know if it was telepathy or whatever you call it when you imagine something happening in the future and then it happens but when you asked if uncle would recommend the bag and you paused for a second, I yelled out this huge very loud “hell yeah!” And then sure enough, you yelled the exact same thing and pretty much the exact same pitch and everything.😂

Love me a full clam shell ! Love that it looks tactical without looking too tactical and that this particular one is made in the USA, but for that price it can. Pound sand.

Sorry for the long comment, Been watching a ton of your videos over the last few days as I’m getting more and more into edc and the prepping scene. I’ve been trying to find a bag that I can use as my edc but also double it as a decent get home bag rather than having two separate bags for now. I’ve been doing a ton of research and I think that I like the GoRuck GR2 the best. I think that the 34L will be the best fit so that I have enough room to use for edc but also have some extra get home stuff packed too. Don’t think the GR2 34L would be a good option for that? Is the 34L still overkill for that purpose?
@MarineX

34l may feel big tbh
@HaveFaithWV

@@MarineX do you think the GR2 26L would be a better fit for that purpose then? I guess I was afraid that the 26L might be too small.

Gorucks are fantastic for durability and Buyitforlife but..........they are always super heavy and super expensive. There are definitely a lot of other options to consider. :D I personally like to go at or below $199, 28-35 liters and less than 3 lbs unfilled.

But what about that 10% rule about eddy gear you buy and what you make? You’d have to make like 5 mill to have the go ahead to buy this right?

Hate to tell you, GoRuck quality is not what it used to be. The connection points where the straps and handle are attached are known failure points, especially the Dyneema ones because of how punctures (needle holes) affect the material. Cordura is way more friendly to sewing and needle holes. I have a 26L Dyneema and I have to send it in because of this known issue. I suggest you check your box stitches of the straps and handles and look for separation (pre-failure). P.s “fair and reasonable pricing” for a $500 bag when you got it for free is a little ironic…

GoRuck, for me this is a hard no. I love premium gear; I get why this is a great bag but I cannot justify the cost. At this price it won't even make it to my "lust list". Hopefully we'll see some of the features filter into other products.

The problem of GoRuck is that their bags never have convenient external access as you will have to swing it to get even a piece of tissue paper or the key to open the door. May be they are well built (when I don't think they are the only one doing so), they don't worth a third of the selling price.

That’s a lot of money for just a bag. I could see spending that kind of money on a mystery ranch for rucking if you’re a career Marine or Soldier, but for edc that’s a bit much for this guy. I’ll stick with the issued assault pack I bought for $35. Only downside is the grandmas couch ammo UCP 😂 great video, Semper Fidelis brother.

I don't want to pay 585 because I dont want to encourage backpack companies to raise their prices to these ridiculous levels. I bet some chinese company could build a bag just as capable for 50 bucks. I dont want to support chinese companies but american companies are just overcharging this could easily be a 100 dollar bag.

Personally, I prefer that my items come in trashcan packaging. Yes, the experience of a good box is nice, but I'm a hoarder and if it has a nice box I can't throw it away and they take up so much space.
