“If it makes you happy and brings you joy and makes you want to go out and do things” (not word for word). This really spoke to me! I love the look of so many bags but it has to speak to me this way for me to really feel good about purchasing it. Thank you for the video!
Good balanced analysis in here man. That grey blue is a pretty sweet combo. I tried to return to 1000d but I just cannot get over how much better a robic GR1 works comparatively. The main compartment and front slash are miles easier to use, I like the less boxy look and the way the fabric sits, light, no lint and easy to clean. This all probably changes if you’ve got a well broken in 1000d I imagine though. I do worry about abrasion and mild things that wouldn’t be scars worthy, I’m sure they’d cover any major failure, but so far it’s been great. I miss the webbing utility a little too. Ultimately though it’s just so cool to have all these options and QAP showing up everywhere, they are firing over there. Very hard to choose if you’re trying to only keep ONE GR1.
First, thanks for this sweet vid. So I have the 21 ripstop/robic in black and in walnut heritage as well as the GR2/26in blue heritage and GR2/40 in slick black, tbh I love the GR1/21 ripstop for travel, slides very easily under plane seats, lighter and does not garner dirt and hair, it’s my dedicated travel Goruck bag, that said it’s slick enough that sternum strap for sure needed, and seems to fray a lot more than my old and trusty Radio
So my robic 21L came in last night and I was torn for the same reasons. I love the earth color, BUT… it was hard to put into words except to say that the Robic seems to eliminate everything that makes a GORUCK what it is. The not standing up on its own was the last straw. It's going back today.
I had questions about Robics durability and Peter from ULA put my mind to ease. They’ve been making robic hiking packs for years and they can attest to years of use and durability. 🤷🏽♂️
I don't really question the outright durability and I think for almost everyone any of these bags will be durable enough...plus there's always SCARS. But comparing them to each other...now that's a drag test!
@@JBOutside1do you think maybe you’re not having many issues cuz they are doing better quality control checks given your review channel? I just bought a kit bag in robic but having second guesses cuz I’m seeing people talk about qc.
Ripstop is such an unknown quantity to me. I've been looking for a slightly smaller and lighter replacement for my trusty Camelbak Linchpin (bring it back in civilian colors and features!) now that I'm just a normal dad and being cool is in the past. I've only had Cordura packs in my adult life, almost all of them, whether issued or bought, being from Mystery Ranch. I really like the features of the NoSurrenderGear Paradigm but being made entirely out of 420D ripstop is giving me so much hesitation. The lack of reviews is also an issue because there's no one who can address build quality and durability.
@JBOutside1 thank you for your reply, yea I hope they come out with a heritage bullet laptop. That would be my perfect bag. I don't see why they wouldn't do it since they already added a laptop version to the regular bullet
@@JBOutside1 Agreed. I've been on the hunt for a Huckberry Slick for a while and I was so close to pulling the trigger on this one. I'll hold off...for now lol
You asked “how much can it hold?” A great video would be a stress test to see if the GR1s with a quick access pocket can hold the same weight of one without a QAP. I predict the zippers breaking with significant weight.
@@JBOutside1 plate security? Is the laptop compartment loose or larger than normal a standard 30lbs plate should fit perfectly inside the laptop compartment
@@r331_is2 All true...and I've discussed plate compatability before. But I don't have the taller 30lb plate...just a 20lb. And even with the height solved it still moves side to side. Either way, the rucker still holds everything best...plus the lumbar pad. In the end it will work...I just don't plan to do the test at the moment.
