Welcome to my video of DX Kidenju Won Tiger [気伝獣ウォンタイガー] from Gosei Sentai Dairanger [五星戦隊ダイレンジャー]!
Won Tiger is the mecha of Kibaranger [キバレンジャー]. It is similar to Ryuranger's Ryuseioh [龍星王] in that it can tranform into a humanoid "Battle Mode", called Kidenbujin Won Tiger [気伝武人ウォンタイガー], and that it can also combine with Tenkuu Kiden [天空気殿] to form a new mecha.
Won Tiger comes with two miniature Kibaranger pieces, the Ogonken [黄金剣] and feet for Seihouou [星鳳凰].
As I mentioned earlier, Won Tiger can combine with the Tenkuu Kiden to become Kibadaioh [牙大王].
Won Tiger is notable for being one of the earliest toy mechas that features a sound other than beeping as well as having great arm articulation (previously seen in DX Liverobo from Liveman). It is a quality toy with excellent play value. The only issue I have is, once again, the damn stickers. It's not nearly as bad as Dairenoh's sticker sheet (a.k.a. The eternal riddle of the universe) but there are still too many complicated stickers to apply in areas with somewhat limited access. Other than that...it's great!
This toy was released by Bandai America for Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers as the White Tigerzord. While the mold of the toy itself was unchanged, there was a number of major changes made. For starters, a large figure of the White Ranger was included as well as a coin for the Power Morpher. Curiously, the coin included was of the Tiger illustration from Dairanger rather than the "fang" logo from Kibaranger's chest that ended up on the coin seen in the show. Also, the stickers were very different with "W" replacing the kanji on the shoulders as well as the addition of those lousy power bolts. The plastic was a solid white while Won Tiger has a flecked plastic resembling the look of Won Tiger's suit in the show. Later versions of this toy also ditched the chromed plastic sword for a soft plastic version. Finally, the kanji on the orbs was removed entirely for some reason.
Which version to buy is entirely up to you. The US version does give you more for your money, but the Dairanger version is a much more accurate toy in ways that just changing the stickers can't fix. Also, the boxart for Won Tiger is absolutely gorgeous...

Say, ever considered finding the Lai-Lai Jewels loose? Or finding a Super Kiryoku Bazooka to load the glass Jewels? (Oh, just only try fitting the actual jewels or comparing the dimensions of the jewels to the foam balls of the bazooka.)

Well I bought me a DX Won Tiger along with Kiba Changer, and a few figures , I’ll be waiting for it to arrive . The mecha and Morpher are so yellow meaning they’re so old and used .

Thanks. ^^ Scaling always gets messed up with DX mecha toys. I always thought that this was the reason Pladera toys exist...since Pladera Kibadaioh is about the same size as DX Ryuseioh.

Scale f-ups are kinda inevitable when you have these models that are a set size relative to each other... but the suits are all made to fit roughly same-size humans.

It's the same other than the differences I mentioned in the written part. The arms have to be that articulated to deal with the transformations.

Wongtiger, the original Tategami Li-Oh. I absolutely love the arm articulation on this guy and the concept itself does really well. Though compared to U.S I rather not have the lousy Dragonzord Power Bolts.

Excellent review. I remember getting those toys for Christmas in 1995. I am kicking my teenage self for getting rid of them.

Those stupid Power bolts and subtle cheap changes ruined a lot of Power Rangers toys from being decent imports of the originals. Some real hairbrained decisions made by Bandai.

Wow. The white plastic on the toy looks a bit like white marble. XD

Yeah. I think it might have been dropped for the US release either to save hassle or because a certain phenomenon had Bandai worried about problems arising from getting fancy with plastic

I don't remember the TigerZord being that poseable... I guess it was something they took out in Saban's release

No, it's just hazy memory or you never realized it could twist in certain ways.

True they were seen on the show, though that couldn't be helped. I guess Bandai of America just wanted their products to feel 'made in the USA' or fear that kids may make fun of the 'funny symbols' despite being show accurate, there was probably a number of good reasons why they changed it?

Now that the artisan Dairenoh is out and the one for Won Tiger is coming out in august, I Think you'll review those.

Not possible since I didn't order them. Not to mention...they aren't much different from the originals. Just ugly detailing instead of ugly decals.

Ugly? Ugly?! The new ones are better and Show accurate.

The legs for Star Ho'oh bug me. It seems to me like they could have designed an integrated connection mechanism..

The kanji on the orbs don't seem to show too well, so they seem like a failed gimmick. Or is that just the camera being a bastard? What kanji are on each orb, by the way? Are they all the kanji for fire, or do they have different ones? If they're different, I wonder if they were actually molded in or if they were stamped into the plastic or something afterward.

Well, obviously...but if you were to watch Power Rangers you'd still see it on the suit. It's not like it can offend anybody. I really just don't see the point.

Apparently, in the Mighty Morphin era Bandai America was really anxious to slap "Power Rangers" branding all over the toys when it came to the stickers (and in three cases, colors), despite the resulting show-inaccuracy. Some of it probably had to do with appeasing retailers, the rest might have been anxiousness to establish mindshare. You'd probably have to write to the execs of the day to find out the full details. It's annoying, though at least now Reprolabels can fix a lot of the decal issues. Speaking of brand-consciousness, that's apparently the reason Saban stuck with the Zyuranger suits (well, and one Dairanger suit) for so long even after the Zyu2 footage was exhausted, despite that requiring all ground footage less a few shots of the White Ranger to be original. Switching to the Ohranger suits was actually considered a calculated risk.

The kanji was removed since American children can't read Japanese. :D
