Would totally recommend 'Flesh for Fantasy' by Billy, has a wicked bass line! Oh, and if you're on an 80's trip, please check out Adam and the Ants, so much good stuff! Recommend Kings of the Wild Frontier (the drumming is AMAZING), Prince Charming, Stand and Deliver just for starters!
Someone already mentioned it Jay but I'd love to second the request. PLEASE do - DANCING WITH MYSELF - NEXT ! ..... The one thing I love about it is that it reminds me of Billy's punk rock journey with the band Chelsea before going solo. Even his look on video is super punk. You know which one's also SUPER AWESOME? ..... Rebel Yell LIVE with Miley Cyrus !!! ...... I am aware you've done Rebel Yell but that live 2016 version with Miley is EXTRAORDINARY !
leaves you with a 'fuck around and find out' attitude. like "mommy whats for dinner.? IDK!!!! Fuck around and find out! whoo (rebel yell while I kick the table over.) lol
I remember staying at a hotel with my ex girlfriend and watching the ""The Wedding Singer" and when we saw Billy in the plane scene with both yelled "Yea, it's Billy Idol" at the same time.
Jay, Billy left his mark here in Australia when he first visited in 1984 and appeared on our live music show of the era, "Countdown". Host Ian "Molly" Meldrum was shocked when he casually asked Billy what he'd been doing since arriving in Australia. “I've had some really heavy sex,” Billy Idol replied. Then repeated it just in case nobody heard. The live audience for Countdown was usually hoards of very young teenage girls. Billy personified "sex, drugs and rock and roll" in his early days.
The Dead Next Door (slower song), (Do Not) Stand in the Shadows (nice upbeat one), Beautiful Life (cool one), Can't Break Me Down (newer catchy one), Love Unchained (sexy one)
Truly a rebel who made great, danceable music. His lead guitarist was really talented too. Something for everyone with Billy. Try Eyes Without A Face, Rebel Yell, Mony, Mony.
So good!!! You can't go wrong with Billy!!! "Dancing with Myself", "Rebel Yell", "Mony Mony", "Eyes Without a Face", "Hot in the City" & "Cradle of Love" (to name a few) are all worth checking out!!!
Mony Mony was the first Idol song I fell I fell in love with. 7th grade girls like me loved him and it was the perceived bd bad boy image the boys tried to copy. Don’t know if any teen would even call him a bad boy. We liked what we saw: the music dnd the image.
I got to see Faith No More and Billy Idol in concert. What a great night and review. Throw this song in the tape player in my friend's car back in the 80s and just drive! Whooo.
I saw Billy Idol perform at a small-ish bar in the early 2000’s. I was sixteen. It obviously was long after the “height” of his career and I was still SWOONING!!!
Billy idol definitely brought the whole punk rock to the world with the videos on MTV and even on the radio. My favorite Billy Idol songs were flesh for fantasy and eyes without a face.
I saw Billy Idol live at Astroworld in Houston in 1984. He was everything back then. White Wedding really got him international attention. Eyes Without a Face was the ultimate power ballad. Dancing with Myself, Hot in the City, Rebel Yell, Mony Mony, Flesh for Fantasy. Lots of great songs.
I saw Billy Idol live here in Munich for the first time in 1984 and the last time in 2018 ... and even after so many years when the riff of Rebel Yell starts I immediately have goosebumps and have to sing out loud
So fun to see you get into it and enjoy our old music! Had the pleasure of seeing Billy Idol in concert in the late 80s I think. He had a broken leg (cast from the knee down) but rocked it still. Good concert!
Back in the late 80s, I worked with an older lady whose daughter knew him. When she was visiting her daughter (in Toronto I think) he came over. In her little grandmotherly voice, she said about him, “He is such a polite boy!” For some reason it really tickled me hearing her say that and picturing the tough guy we know from his videos 😁
Dancing with Myself, cradle of love, Eyes Withouta Face, or LA Woman he gives Jim Morrison of the Doors a run for his money on that one but I think you should find some live performances he's better live. Even now, I seen him in concert two years ago still awesome and still sexy as hell
I was totally blown away when i heard this in a radio..and then i the bought the album,,i was just 17 in that time.. then rebel yell came out next year...god damn..this brings back so many good memories :) now..years after this brings back so many good memories..darn im getting old :D
It's awesome to see how much you appreciate this! Billy Idol is the BEST. He looked and sounded like no one else when he started to gain popularity in the early 80s. Together with Steve Stevens, those two made so many great songs through the years. Rebel Yell was one of the first albums I ever owned and it remains a favorite to this day.
Love Billy ♥️ I’m a big fan. I saw him in the 80’s when he came to Australia and again in 2015 when he came back. He was amazing then and he’s still got it 😉
“Dancing With Myself” is another great Billy Idol song! I heard this one it came out and I have no idea what it’s about. I just like singing along 😂🤣😂 🌎✌️
Check out his autobiography. Despite rumors to the contrary, this song is not about Idol's actual little sister. "Little sister" is slang for girlfriend. He is singing about a woman/girl he loves marrying someone else while he still loves her. Idol did have a sister who was getting married, but on an episode of VH1 Storytellers, he explained that his sister's wedding simply gave him the idea for the song. Like many of Idol's compositions, he started with the title and wrote the song from there
I spent A LOT of time in the arcade in the 80s and this was a song that played a lot in the arcade, and everywhere, lol. I know everyone has their favorite decade for music but for me, it will always be the 80s. Just my personal favorite. I put my "80s Playlist" on when I am doing stuff around the house and I sing along (badly - lol) to every song. :-)
ALWAYS A TREAT, watching u react to Billy Idol!!!!! I loved when u turned up the volume; only way to listen to music like that. 👍 When I use to play him yrs ago, I already had the stereo set to BLAST; sub woofer ready & all. Thing is, THE VERY SECOND any of his songs started, started on a WILD NOTE, soooooo..... it use to SCARE THE BLEEP outta whichever cat of mine, was hanging out w/me. Well, it was just me & Billy after that, cuz they..... TOOK OFF!!! 😆😆😆 Anyway, he's got a lot of great songs, so no matter which one u choose, ur sure to love. A few to mention are, "Dancing With Myself", "To Be A Lover" & "Cradle Of Love". You see how he gets YOU amped up, well then, u'll get a kick outta how he gets the girl in Cradle Of Love AMPED UP. 🤭 All are great on official video...
I loved the way this song was about a wedding and they would show nails being hammered in a coffin multiple times. That was a warning for all to think twice about what marriage could do!
*waves from Alaska* My grandmother used to watch Billy Idol videos with me; she thought he was so cute! Great to see you enjoying the music. Another great reaction video!
Billy was another great addition to the 80s. Other songs to check out are "Flesh For Fantasy", "Dancing With Myself" and to see how Billy Idol can change it up, "Sweet Sixteen".
I love love Billy Idol, especially "White Wedding"! Your reaction to the song is so brilliant and adorably cute! (giggles) He always had the same effect on me, ready to dance and kick some ass! (laughs). 9
one of the first videos i ever saw when mtv hit the air . when mtv was ALL music vids and nothing else 24/7. no bullshit rap reality shows. just the best music
Hello Jayvee! Could you please react to "Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag"? I think you would like the song. "Eyes Without a Face" is another song I would highly recommend from Billy idol.
Billy has that ROCK thing. Just like Joan Jett, ACDC, and some others, there are certain unique musicians that are just ROCK, pure and simple. They lived it, breathed it, and poured it out.
