Yeah that black mold is horrible.. beautiful job Tom explaining that , most people don't know why that happens.. and yes a bathroom fan in the garage would be a huge help !
My garage is not even 1.5 years old. Attic and walls are insulated. All drywalled except a 3 foot section next to the garage door.(I am being lazy). I have an antique car that I start every month or so during the winter to warm it up. I also park my daily driver when it snows or crappy weather outside. Floor gets super wet and big puddles when my SUV melts. I only heat the garage when I work in there. Too expensive to heat 24/7. I noticed condensation on my tools and my old car's engine parts. I recently noticed mold starting on the drywall next to the missing drywall. Ok...while writting, I guess I answered my own question. Either I heat the garage or ventilate it properly 😮
the local deck guy in the Vancouver BC area said don't do this, it creates more problems down the road, in fact i saw a ripped up a deck last summer because of this. The deck failed and the spray foam actually soaked up the water like a sponge and didn't show up beneath in the garage. Until it was too late, one day it just looked like this garage in the video and poked holes in the drywall water came pouring out. When the deck above was ripped up the subfloor and joists 2x10 were 90% gone rotten.
I recently converted an old garage into a gym. Brand new drywall and insulation in the ceiling and walls. Now there are circles of black, green, pink, white mold growing on the ceiling. Would the bathroom fan help with that? Thank you so much. Desperate for advice.
FYI: 1. Bleach does not "kill" mold! All it does is change the color pigmentation while the mold lies dormant until future moisture makes it grow again! 2. Painting it with "Kilz" is a joke since all it is a primer and it does not "kill" mold!! 2 questions: I just discovered black mold on my garage ceiling (house built in Ontario 2017) No Tarion new home warranty coverage for this either. I don't have a deck above, just a roof. Aside from installing a fan, does the entire ceiling need to be taken down and replaced? Could one not spray with vinegar and paint over it along with putting in a fan? Question 2: If one does remove the drywall, is this a mold mitigation professional's job or in this case, outdoors, is it safe to do it yourself?
I have mould growing in my shed / workshop their is no ventilation at the moment ,walls insulation ,will add some 4 inch holes either side of the walls to allow air to pass through solve this ? Thanks
We have an enclosed metal garage carport sitting entirely on gravel. We purchased and install 2x10 x10 kd l lumber on the insides of the walls ( 6 on each side wall) , to attach shelf brackets to. Now theres mold on the 2x10s. What can we do ? Thank you
We just bought a house and is currently empty. We smell a strong sign of mold or humidity only the garage . The rest of the house smell normal. I saw you video about ventilation. What you suggest for ventilation as well no correct the smell. Nothing visible at all .
Can u pls help on this? My attached garage has nothing on top of it(no bedroom or living) and I can see mold on ceiling. It's an uninsulated garage. How I can fix it permanently?
I found a lot of black mold on my bedroom wall yesterday. I scraped them away with wire brush. Is it okay to just paint that wall, or does the drywall have to be replaced?
People don't notice changes that occur slowly over a long time. Sometimes they don't see it until a fresh set of eyes comes along as says "the f is that?"
