This time there is simply something to enjoy. Less to listen to than usual, but all the more beautiful pictures and impressions of the Gotthard Pass. The journey over the Gotthard is at the original speed and therefore less fast. The best thing to do is to let the video run in the background on the TV, turn off the sound and accompany it with your own music.
As a little encore, I drove on to Göschenen after Andermatt. This small section is also very beautiful and there is also the mythical Devil's Bridge to discover. This bridge is simply part of the Gotthard because of the many stories it tells.
The Gotthard Pass is one of the most famous Alpine passes in Switzerland and connects the Italian and German-speaking regions. From the Middle Ages until the construction of the tunnels, the pass was one of the most important north-south connections across the Alps. The pass connects the towns of Andermatt in the canton of Uri and Airolo in the canton of Ticino. The pass is much lower than the highest passes in Switzerland. Nevertheless, the journey is very impressive, steeped in history and, above all, much more beautiful than through the tunnel. With a bit of luck, you may spot one of the nostalgic stagecoaches on the route. It's worth taking a close look.
