GOTTI MOVIE REVIEW - Can it really be that bad? - The Double Toasted podcast does funny movie reviews and today they look at a movie that is currently on 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. That movie is called Gotti and stars John Travolta in the lead role playing the big time mob boss John Gotti. This movie has had multiple directors and has been in production for a number of years, does all this take its toll on the movie? Critics seem to think so but now it’s Korey’s chance to give his review on this new gangster movie. Will he like it? Will he hate it? What gets me is how many people like this film. I think they just hear the name Gotti and think watching will make them a bad ass. It's like those people who watch scarface over and over again like it makes them a gangster and it's something to live by 😂

The Comedian No the movie was bad because it was horribly edited, and no structure to Gotti's story. It was all over the place. I actually loved Travolta's performance.

I'm only guessing, but I believe why Gotti failed is because this movie was made WITH the support of the Gotti family. When you do that, you only get the bright side of the story, never the dark stuff.

It was bad for a lot of reasons, but a major one: Gotti's family "consulted" on this movie. Meaning, they basically dictated what could be said or not said about Gotti.

The GOTTI marketing department is artificially pumping up the audience scores on rotten tomatoes. Its in 500 theaters, barely making money and it has over 7,000 audience reviews on rotten tomatoes. Thats more than big movies like Oceans 8 that has 5,500 audience reviews

You know it's bad when the marketing has to focus on complaining about critics. If the critics were kinder, you know those quotes and scores would be all over the marketing for it. It's even worse that they were very obviously posting fake audience reviews talking about it being 5 stars, "so amazing WOW" and all that shit. It stands out as fake immediately. Now, if they'd have posted a bunch of 3-4 star reviews and underplayed it a little, their tactic might've worked. But no, they had to get stupid with it.

1996 HBO Gotti is the most underrated and a top 5 Mob movie of all time! Groping ass Travolta couldn't carry Armand Assante's gun holster. Armand Assante is more John Gotti than John Gotti in that movie! Furthermore, it has a phenomenonal supporting cast like- 1) Dominique Chianese (Uncle Jun) 2) Vincent Pastore (Big Puss) 3) Tony Sirico (Pauly Walnutts) and none other than THE Anthony Quinn as Gotti's mentor + Father figure! Never will get why this movie NEVER got the recognition it is long overdue to receive!

The problem with this movie is that it tells 2 stories with the second story being the one that drags the film down, and that's all of the scenes with Gotti Jr. No one went into this movie wanting to see Gotti Jr. at all. The lure was seeing Travolta portray John Gotti Sr. The dialogue is terrible but the most interesting parts of the film are the scenes with Travolta & it's only half of the film. It's also a terrible mob film since you don't actually see how much of New York Gotti controlled through organized crime. They make it clear Gotti becomes boss but they fail to show us what exactly he controlled through organized crime - because the other half of the film has to show Gotti Jr..

The "yous" and "yous guys" talk is prevalent in parts of Cleveland (I know, different location, just noting). Strangely though, that kind of talk I hear from the Irish side of my family living there, not the Italian side.

“Youse” is a New York thing not an Italian thing. I’m Italian from NY. But this review is accurate. Horrible movie, poorly written. Movie doesn’t flow, jumps all around. Soundtrack was a wannabe Godfather sound. Pitbull was on the soundtrack. Completely threw the scenes off. Such a sloppy film.

I finally got around to seeing this, and this honestly feels like the Highlights for children cartoon Goofus (“Gottti”) and Gallant (“Goodfellas”): - Gallant uses music to convey info (time period, character, plot), effectively employs a non-linear narrative structure to subvert audience expectations, and has realistic dialogue that feels true to character. - Goofus... does none of that shit!

A lot of the actors are Midwesterners with no ny accent. The man who played Angelo ruggeirio looked nothing like him and sounded like he was from Kansas. Same with the Neil delacroce actor. Awful.
