To clarify for anyone living outside of the US, the average singular person in the us eats 2.2 billion grilled cheeses per year, or about 70 grilled cheeses per second
Because its sometimes a lot harder to make than it is to buy. Like I can make all sorts of cakes and things but I will buy a slice because its easier than making my own. Like its not just making it, you gotta buy the breads and have them at home which means you have to eat it all or throw it out etc. Just going and grabbing a grilled cheese from a restaurant means its one and done and you can have any number of kinds without figuring it all out yourself.
@@Meriliremthis is accurate I find as a home cook I but stuff for a single dish then am obligated to make more of it or find uses for the left over ingredients because nothing comes in perfect portions for what you want. Still find ways to use it all up but it's easier if you simply go out. Jack in the box makes a garbage grilled cheese but I've had maybe 200 over the years because I'm just there and it's a beautiful side ( they not big ) to have with your meal if you a bigger person like me and 2 burgers just seems a bit heavy for that specific meal.
There isn’t much variety in a grilled cheese when the recipe is just bread and cheese, it’s understandable why a lot of people add meat, even if it’s not a grilled cheese anymore
Truthfully, you can add all kinds of stuff to it, But it still has to be primarily cheese to be a grilled cheese. I like to cut up Ham into small cubes fry them up and throw them in my grilled cheese with a tiny bit of bacon bits.
By the way, if you add anything that isnt the basic ingredients (bread, cheese, butter/mayo) to a grilled cheese, its no longer a grilled cheese, its a melt.
They've just ruined a childhood food treat for the many children out there, next they're going to open a restaurant with gourmet peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or gourmet egg salad sandwiches. 😂😂😂😂
Did you make a grilled cheese? If yes then it doesn't really matter how much other stuff you add. If you didn't make it like a grilled cheese then no, even if it has grilled cheese.
“You people make me sick. A grilled cheese consists of only these following items. Cheese. Bread with spread (usually butter). This entire subreddit consist of "melts". Almost every "grilled cheese" sandwich i see on here has other items added to it.”
Oh also, best grilled cheese: butter and garlic salt on one side of bread slices. Toast in a skillet, both sides. Melt hand-shredded cheddar of choice, gruyere, and Parmigiano-Reggiano together and plop it on (make sure they are not pre shredded, the vorm starch will ruin the melt). Top with a basil leaf to feel gourmet
@@stanleypines3626Hi yes I’m with the U.S. Census and we’re just here to ask a few follow up questions starting with how many grilled cheeses did you make this past year😂😂😂
I honestly like making my own because I know how I like my grilled cheese. And restaurants just don't know how to make it the way I like. Although Five Guys was the closest and it was good.
My guy just showed me an incredible way yo enjoy Sonic's grilled cheese. Just add pickles. It's absolutely amazing. I thought he was crazy at first but man its so good!!
Miss Cheezious. Man, I haven't heard that name in over a decade. I still remember when they started out as a food truck. Glad to see they're still alive and kicking.
I like Ms cheezious. Their food is good. Customer service is good too! I’d recommend dining in vs ordering to go because once the sandwhich sits for a while it gets a bit soggy.
I have never had a grilled cheese from a food establishment I've liked. They are just one of the foods that so much better when made at home in my opinion.
Whenever I make grilled cheese, I often like to spice it up by putting cream cheese on the inner sides of the bread, American cheese, and I also like to add pickled jalapeño slices! It’s honestly so freaking good. And I especially like to use veggie cream cheese with it!
More affordable to make some grilled cheese at home, and you can make it the way you want and you can make a few grilled cheese sandwiches within a $5 range. Wish I had some tomato soup right now and made some sandwiches too
Just have 2 slices of bread, butter, 2 slices of provolone, 1 slice of muenster and put it in the toaster with the top bread off. Take it out when you want and mix Mexican sour cream and sriracha, put it on the grilled cheese and put the top bread on and that’s my grilled cheese
Try the one they have at the West Coast Burger chain THE HABIT! Really tasty sandwich and you can order a full sized one on the Kids menu (and get some fries, a soda and a SpongeBob Krabby Patty too!) for $6.29
If you want a good fast food grilled cheese, there's this place in Spanish Fork, UT that has an unbelievably great grilled cheese!! It's called Glade's Drive Inn, and their shakes, too, are absolutely delicious!
Nahhhh. In my hometown (Yorktown Heights, NY) our local mall (The Jefferson Valley Mall) has this food truck called “Put Some Meat On Your Bones” and It has the BEST fucking grilled cheeses ever for under $10 & it comes with homemade chips. SO GOOD and worth the wait!
my old man used to say "If there is a price, there is a taste" for food i mean. and then he continue "but somtime bad taste may exist in any range of price"
Go to the great Smoky Mountains Tennessee and go to this place called cookie dough monster it sounds like a cookie dough place but they have the best burgers ever
McDonald’s used to have a good grilled cheese, they would take their hamburger bun and invert it and put two slices of cheese inside after they ran the bun through the toaster. it was really good because their cheese is the best fast food cheese
