Wow, this should be the quintessential example of the overuse of music and background noise. I long for the good old days when the human voice dominated movies.
Great story. The late, great Tom Watson was excellent as the tortured ex-shipyard worker Jock MGinn who receives a harsh lesson in in remembrance of how he treated his own daughter by the ghost of a murdered little girl. Waited to see this again for years. Very spooky and deserving of a DVD release.
Oh my goodness. Spooky. Sad. Scottish ghosts always seem to be the scariest. This movie is a perfect example of an updated ghost story, complete with political upheaval, class issues, violence, a decaying "castle" and a wholly pitiful victim. Interestingly, Aristotle's definition of tragedy fits this piece perfectly. My heartfelt thanks for this posting!
What a great upload. Thank you for this. An excellent piece of social documentary but above all a cracking ghost story. Like English Bob wrote here, this is where RU-vid shows its value.
Was great to watch, not only for the story but seeing the Clyde shipyards that eventually closed due to lack of good management and government of the time...
That was absolutely brilliant! Very thought-provoking. Thanks for uploading, acumfaegovan. BBC England obviously never broadcast this one! The swines! Thank fook for RU-vid. Thanks again! :-)
I love the film choices, I never saw these films before, of course I'm living in the United States now but I'm from New Zealand. Good on You for sharing. love Sandi

They were all sitting there having dinner, talking about after her mom died, And the father says she was very young. She was too young to remember. She said I remember plenty, Then the father say's : Do yea ? The father stands up and he saidad i'm gonna go. And the brother goes down to the front door, His son : Then the sun says to the father. : YOUR A RELIC ! DONT BOTHER TO COME TO THE WEDDINDC -- Someone tell me something, How do you say that to your own father ? No I know I retyped part of the monolog. The script, Connie gave some of it away. You look at this, think about people that lost their father when they were 7 years old and wish they could have their dad their whole life like they did. ? 1 In my eyes -- THEN THOSE GROWN UP KIDS ARE SON OF A BITCHES To say that to your own dad, Don't bother coming to the wedding You're a relic
have some question about the film. Enjoyed it very much, but would love to talk about the film! I don't want to put my thoughts on this site, because it might ruin someone's experience watching this film.
Mixing politics and social issues with a ghost story is like mixing garlic paste in your chocolate icecream...judging from the feedback I read ....many like this gosh awful mess. That's what this story is ..a gosh awful boring mess. Crap...you see a child's ghost at night and morning you brush your teeth and have a bath. Wonder what he will do if he sees a martian in his green dress..shift chewing gum from his left cheek to his right and go to office. And finally the dialog...blah blah blah......
