@Andre the Giant Has a posse I don't think covid is fake but the cost we are paying is higher than the disease. For example. Let's say the average American was under lockdown for 12 weeks (I know every person is different but on average). With 330 million people that is 3.9 billion weeks lost. As the average person has 4,000 weeks in their entire life, this is equivalent to 975,000 entire lives lost. In other words the lock downs cost 975,000 lives so to justify them we needed to save a minimum of 975,000. That's not all, the average person to die from covid probably would have only 1,000 weeks to live if they didn't die from covid so every covid life saved adds only 1,000 weeks. So to justify the lockdown we needed to save 3.9 million people. I doubt we did that.
@Andre the Giant Has a posse Look at Sweden. No lockdown, no masks and they have a death per capita of 53 per 100,000 where as the US which had lock downs and mask has a death rate of 53.4 per 100,000 and as of September 4th Sweden is averaging just 2 deaths per day from covid while the US is averaging over 800 per day. Clearly lockdowns don't work in the long run.
Yikes! How expensive would that be? A whole set of laws and a fully staffed department to monitor the politicians? Besides, who would monitor that department? What if they are bribed into corruption like the politicians they are policing?
I understand the sentiment but perhaps something less costly and similar to the first Democracy. Restrict office by contract. So require candidates to issue a public contract of what their intentions are for the position, if they win and are elected make the Contract be part of their Oath and Legally Bind them to it. Failing to uphold the Contract should trigger a penalty similar to the ancient ways, whereby failure to meet their obligation they are exiled or banned from holding office again for a 10 year period. Make all legal Penalties for violating standing Law while in Office double. So, theft and fraud via stealing or credit card fraud lands hosts of people in jail for the crime and back out after a year, have a city politician who engages in fraud face automatic doubling of the Penalty as a representative of the Law Violating it is worse than the average non-bound citizen. Literally write a really Stiff Oath Breaker Penalty into Campaign and Civil Law. Violation of Oath should be considered a Violation of all Citizens Civil Rights. Engaging in Criminal Activity while an Oath Bearer should be considered a form of Sedition, for willfully depriving their Community of their rights.

I have seen that happen several times. Near where I used to live, there was an old man who had some prime riverfront property he'd owned for something like 50 years, had bought it pre WW2 when land was cheap. Local developers wanted it to build condos on. He would not sell at any price. SO, they raised his property assessment to what the land MIGHT be worth if you put $100,000,000. worth of condos on it. He could not pay, and his land was auctioned off for the tax bill. THEN, it was reassessed at only a few % of the earlier assessment, and that is what the new developers paid in taxes going forward. So, through a series of legal wrangling, they stole the old man's land from him, and ultimately built condos on it. Which, BTW, were subsidized by the city indirectly as the city paid for wider and better roads to the area.

All members voted unanimously to not cut their bloated salaries all while voting to defund the police. DISGUSTING! Search for the news story. The Mayor is not happy with city council.
Mayors, DA’s, city council and school boards have power without balance. Don’t fight the cops they send, find where the live and let them know balance isn’t to far from their doorsteps. Politicians respect power and money and use fear to obtain both. Government should fear the citizens not the other way around!
Once upon a time I had a girlfriend who wanted me to get involved in politics and run for city or state office. I told her I'd never get elected. She said "Yes you can! You can do it if you put your heart and mind into it!" She didn't like my reply, which was "To be a successful politician, I'd have to cheat on you with multiple women, lie to my constituents, take bribes, dominate citizens and cheat on my taxes. That is where my heart and mind would have to be - and trust me - THAT'S NOT ME!" Our relationship lasted about a week after that. She was a proud Bill Clinton supporter.
You wouldn't have to do those corrupt things to become a politician. A lot of that corruption happens because a lot of power hungry and narcissistic people become politicians. It's not easy to become a politician. It takes a lot of energy, focus, drive, and ambition. Those are neutral qualities to have, neither good or bad. But they are intense qualities, and qualities which naturally power hungry and narcissistic people often have an abundance of. Corrupt people oftentimes have a lot of energy and strength and an "evil genius" quality to them and figure out how to get into positions of power like a "councilman". Let's be honest, most of the people who watched this video and are commenting about how messed up this situation is and want to help this guy are the kinds of people who really should be a councilman and politician, because they're good and decent people. BUT, we're also a little lazy aren't we? Let's be honest. We're a little laid back and just taking it easy watching Johnny Stoss on the RU-vids while some corrupt and sleazy a-hole is wheeling and dealing and hustling hard to become a councilman and get Power, which is all he cares about. A lot of these people only care about power, they don't care about helping society. You seem like a good guy and would probably be a good and decent politician. But let's be honest who wants to go through all the craziness involved in becoming a politician? It's not really fun or easy to do. It's hard work and very complicated. I myself wouldn't get any pleasure or fun from going through the process required. Power hungry people have the drive necessary because their lust for the power of the position pushes them through, but a lot of us good guys watching RU-vid we just want to take it easy. Let us be honest. Plato said "One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors".
