The United States has taken major steps to boost domestic production of semiconductors, amid concerns about supply chain disruptions and geopolitical tensions. Government subsidies have created new opportunities, as Washington seeks to re-establish a manufacturing sector that has shifted to Asia in recent decades. CNA's Ira Spitzer reports from SemiCon West - the US' largest semiconductor trade show.

China should set triaffs of 100% on the import of semiconductors from the US.

See? There's nothing wrong about government subsidies, whether it's by China, EU or US, for chips or EVs etc.

The main reason U$A will never able to compete in Chip manufacturing. All the country that do well in chip manufacturing , has Confucianism culture. For chip manufacturing, a high level of discipline is the key, and most Americans today don't possess it. They call it “forced labour" Taiwanese media reported on August 2 that TSMC claimed the production holdup at its Arizona facility was caused by a shortage of trained American labour and that they had sent staff from Taiwan to assist with the factory's development. Labour union officials in Arizona, on the other hand, criticised TSMC for exploiting this as a justification to bring in "low-wage foreign labour."

US already has 40 million "low-wage foreign labor" workers. This is nothing new, and will only extend it by 75k.

The word is creativity, not Confucianism. The microchip was invented in US and manufactured there originally, outsourced for a while, and when too much reverse engineering went on, decided to bring it back.

A small customer base leads to limited income. Combined with high capital and current expenditures, it will result in bankruptcy.

It always gets worse before it gets really bad. The U$ economic problems are unfixable without significant austerity. Already 35T , increase by 1T every 100days. ...they never intended to pay the debt off. They'll do a bail in to force a CBDC. Position yourself accordingly

Coercing other countries to suppress China’s semiconductor industry. Sad for Japan(Tokyo electronics) and Netherlands(ASML) . Just like your classmate(U$A) use his family power coercing the stationary shop(ASML,Japan,..) NOT to sell stationary to you.

The US is a lead designer of advanced semiconductors like the chips that are very well produced by TSMC. Now, the US will bolster its domestic production of advanced semiconductors. A move that works for the US and Taiwan.

Singapore is losing out to major countries when it comes to attracting top semiconductor companies and building local production. PAP rather pays itself extraordinary high salaries than invest in the country's chip needs. PAP cannot be trusted to advance the interest of the nation. Do not vote PAP.
