Love your content mate, think you're also extremely local to me so that's a bonus! Would be good to revisit and hear more of your views on ovens after more extensive use rather than a couple of cooks.
Thanks for watching, and yes i will be doing a more in depth review after 3-6 months of ownership once i know the oven and have a good level of experience cooking on it! 😀
SECOND!!🎉🎉🎉😂😂 Great review Tom. That's a sweet oven. If I had the space, and permission from the old lady 😂, I would love to get one. Keep them coming Tom. Cheers.
Hi Tom ! 🙂 Great video ! I'm curious how long a 20 lb tank (9 Kg) of propane would last using this model, or any of your Ooni models. I'm in Canada, so 20 pound tanks aren't what you use, - with that said, what size of propane tank are you using ? I pay about $14 to fill a 20 lb tank, and for a typical bbq, it would last quite a long time, but since you are heating this model for 30 to 40 minutes ( I'm assuming at full blast ) a tank won't last long so I'd love to get a handle on what your times are on a tank etc..... - a video would be awesome, go through what you pay typically for a propane tank fillup.... how they measure the tanks there... ( are they also be weight ? ) etc.... it would be a great video to do.... anyway thanks for taking the time to read this Tom ! Love your videee-oohhhs !! 🙂
Yes, i was happy it arrived quickly as i wanted to get the video done as soon as possible. I believe the black one is a limited edition, so maybe has less stock?
The only issue i find with it is the heat up time takes longer than some others a similar price, and the stone is difficult to remove for cleaning the oven. Other than that, its great!
I have a Koda 16 and am considering the Arc XL so I can keep my Koda at a cabin. Both will cook the same. The Arc looks nicer, but the thermometer is useless (if you're cooking pizzas you're using a proper thermometer) and the battery igniter will fail over time as they all do. The Koda has a piezo igniter that requires no batteries/is more reliable. I expect the Koda is quite a bit less expensive and you can probably get one 2nd hand. Money no object get the Gozney. If you want a great oven for a better price get the Koda.
Thanks! Already have the Koda 16. Have been using it for a couple of years, and It has worked great. Have ordered the Arc XL (it does look nicer), but im kinda on the fence about it now. @@dothetontim
N2U2 is coming out with door which should help with speeding up the pre-heat as a similar door for the Dome has been demonstrated to speed up tue pre-heat. The door has a baffle design that lets in sufficient air. Plus the vent on top is left unblocked.
Hi Tom, love your reviews, I’m looking for my first pizza oven and am stuck between this one and the Gino pizza oven, I want a gas one ans need the controls at the front due to my workspace, do you think the Gino is good and easy enough to use for a beginner or should I splash out and get the arc xl?
They're both good ovens capable of cooking amazing pizza, the question i would ask yourself is firstly budget, if you can stretch to the Gozney, you're getting a larger oven, thicker stone, more advanced gas technology and i really like the digital display and super accurate gas regulator too. That said, Gozney is expensive, especially if you want to add stand, shelf, and other accessories. The Gino is far less to buy, but your limited to 14", better through if you want to travel with the oven, or take on trips as it folds up, lighter to carry, and also easier to store if you only plan on using a couple of times a month. Also think about who your cooking for... If its just 2-3 pizzas at a time, then the Gino will be fine, if you're doing parties for 6 or more people regularly the Gozney is more suited, as that thicker stone will hold more heat to prevent re heat time in between pizza. Hope this helps :)
If I had to keep just one it would be the Ooni Karu 16, love the fact is both gas and wood, nice big 16” cooking area, glass door, always had amazing results and big enough to cook more than just pizza,
Appreciate it when. You use your own money to test this oven. I am still having lots of fun enjoying making woodfire pizza with my Karu 12.. definitely interesting looking at these dome liked ovens recently released at this size
@@TomVoyageukHas anyone actually tested the 14 yet? From looking at the burner power, mass and entrance opening size, I suspect that the 14 might be much quicker to reach Neapolitan temperatures. The 16 seems errrr…. kinda slow! And longer heat up with a bigger burner translates as noticeably more gas used before you start cooking. Clearly for big, thin, crispy lower temperature pizzas the 16 is the way to go. But for 11/12” Neapolitans, I do wonder whether the basic Arc might actually be the BETTER choice. Agreed, with the current pricing, the XL does look as though you are getting much more for not much more money, but for domestic use (on Neapolitans at least) the extended heat up time is going to be an unwelcome gotcha. The XL seems to have been the only version ‘seeded’ to influencers (I ask myself why), and (in the UK) it is already on backorder from Gozney. But where are the side-by-side comparisons (including gas consumption) of the Arc and the XL?
I have the Arc. It uses less fuel per hour than the XL. This could come in handy when traveling and using one pound propane tanks. Another channel is going to be coming out with a side-by-side comparison between the Arc XL and Arc.
Thanks for the comment, the table is from a company called zest, i did a review on it you can view here. If you do decide to purchase a table or oven, please sue my links as it helps to support the channel! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wu4F8OpSJFo.html
Yes I would definitely say this pizza oven is aimed more towards those that want to do many pizzas at a time or for parties, maybe even catering, because it’s a long time to wait for just 1 or 2 pizzas
Aw no! My stand didn’t arrive either until a few days later, it’s still not set up yet as I want to do a review of the stand too! Maybe will get it done this weekend
@@TomVoyageuk it’s apparently in stock now but the cover still isn’t so I’ve asked the delivery is held until it’s all ready. Then it’ll be pizza time!
After i filmed this video i thought about the fact i didn't mention the table and knew someone would ask! It's from a company called Zest and a very good natural wood option with plenty of storage. I have added the link to it in the video description now, and also have a full review of it on my channel if you want to check that out
Possibly, but in summer a few degrees hotter won’t make much difference when getting it up to 440/500c but sometimes a door can actually make a gas flame go out, would be interesting to see if they bring out a door as an accessory though
thumbs up great video as always and the oven looks pretty good but i still prefer my karu 16 i like to use gas and charcoal/wood sometimes plus i like the design and the faster heat up time of the karu more the gozney with its thick stone might be better for a big party where you have to make lots of pizzas though 😁 i think your pizza looked a little bit flat maybe the frozen dough didnt have enough time to raise i have had this problem too especially in the winter frozen dough needs a lot of time to fully rise 😊🍕🍕🍕🍕
Thanks for the comment, and yes it does look flat. It was a real shame i didn't have the time to make dough as i wasn't really pleased with this dough and know i can do much better. But my focus here was to get a review done as soon as possible, and in the future I'll do a more in depth review and cook with recipe on the oven to show the true potential. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
They're clearly trying to get the dome pizza oven look with these but I definitely prefer the look of my Ooni Koda 12. That said, I do like the idea of the starter button being on the front of the oven. Not being able to see if the flame has ignited properly on my Ooni due to the ignition knob being at the back is my biggest grip with my oven.
I too liked being able to see the flame whilst adjusting and the adjustment felt really controlled to, and easy to dial in the right flame size. I guess it does look like a smaller dome too! Minus the chimney
Beautiful looking oven, great review 👏 The time it takes to get the stone up to temp😮 half the money..... How would you rate the Pi Prime against the Arc xl? I'll be waiting awhile to get an Arc so do i wait or go with the Prime? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated boss 👍
Thanks for the comment, and i agree it's a really nice looking oven, with a very classic design. Reminds me of the way cars were designed in the 1930's/1940's. The Pi Prime is a great oven, and works really well. Smaller though and probably more suited to making 2 or 3 pizzas a time, but it heats up faster and is lighter. The Arc Xl is more suited if you're going to be making 6-8 pizzas at a time, or maybe hosting parties and you need that extended heat retention. Also if your keeping it in place and don't need to move about much, and you're going to be getting the £££ worth by using it every week of the year. Hope this helps :)
@@Grumbo1 Haha, i know the feeling well, when i convinced my wife we needed the first pizza oven back in lockdown... we now have about 14 of them in the garage!! need to have a clean out 😬
just a little bit ugly. This was so close to great. Mostly, that black grill at the top is just awful. If people come up with a solution to fix that, then I'm all in.
Dude good vid but you gotta do some research on the product first. The temp gauge sensor is set in the stone so it IS the stone temp not overall ambient temp. The sensor is not right at the stone surface which is why your gun probably reads higher
You are wrong. the thermometer is the ambient temperature. Gozney themselves suggest that you also buy a infrared thermometer to measure the stone temp.
@@Tru3xEffectsthink he’s right - Additionally, the new digital temperature gauge measures the exact temp of the stone floor so you can create your perfect pizza exactly how you like it.😊
