I got confused Kevin bolted snapcaster mage at the beginning of fjrst game, but I found he would have died if he took that 2 damage because Corey draw bolt when Kevin was at 5. Nice job
Then again, he could've killed Corey by attacking with the token + Stormbreath, then bolting Corey when the token connects and Stormbreath gets Terminated.
He "payed" life to get information. He wanted to know if his opponent was going to cast something else that would alter his decision. Risky move anyway though. This question was answered here with more detail: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aipz30guGdU.html&lc=z13chhcpyzaouh43523yzpxqtp2xizhwj04
I know this is old at this point, but this was super disappointing from Corey after the great games earlier. Specifically, at 18:44, when he scries and puts visions and polluted delta on top. He has no black mana at this time, particularly the crucial basic swamp he knows he needs. And then he decides to shock the steam vents and mill the delta away. Knowing that he needs black mana, and knowing that he may need it to be a basic swamp, still chooses to mill it away. Cost himself the game for sure.
In game one, when Kevin cast Chandra, Torch of defiance, he activated her first +1 ability and hit an Eternal Scourge. Couldn't he have chosen not to cast it, and have Chandra deal 2 damage to Corey and then cast Eternal Scourge from exile?
After many, many games you get tired. You'll see a lot of misplays in the first/second round of tournaments (warming up), as well as at the end. Generally in the middle ~80% of the tournament is when you see people playing at their best.
Can somebody explain to me why Corey in the first game, decided to take the 3 damage from the thopters then use snapcaster kolaghan's command; than using it in the blocker step to prevent the 3 damage?
It's still a new card, I'm guessing they thought it was a delayed trigger like Abbot of Keral Keep and you don't get the shock until end of turn when you can't actually cast Scourge?
gamefreak203 I understand what he meant, I'm just saying he likely wanted the scourge to be able to attack the next turn in case there was a terminate for the dragon.
There's no 'until the end of turn' involved in new chandra. You exile a card and either cast it right away or if you don't/can't, chandra deals 2. So he just had to +1, exile scourge, opt not to cast, shock, cast scourge from exile.
Maybe you mean something different than we assume by "reactive cards". Would you care to explain?By the way you phrase it, it seems like you miss cards that convert card advantage back into tempo advantage and an explosive finishing move...? We can't all play Psychatog, y'know ;D
That is the usual definition of reactive, I'm aware of that *facepalm+ It's just that his comment doesn't make any sense then and that's why I suggested he meant something else. Why assume that he's an idiot first like the other answers, when instead it is possible that he mixed up terms and wanted to say something else?
People whining about Blood Moon are also the ones saying they can never beat Tron. Easiest way to beat Tron? Turn them into Mountains. Plus, you can always just play basics you greedy MTG player. :)
